1Было ко мне слово Господне:
2– Иди и провозгласи во всеуслышание в Иерусалиме: Так говорит Господь:
Я вспоминаю о преданности твоей юности,
когда ты любила Меня, как невеста,
и шла за Мной по пустыне,
по незасеянной земле.
3Израиль был святыней Господа,
был первым плодом Его жатвы;
все, кто его поедал, осуждались,
их постигала беда, –
возвещает Господь.
4Слушайте слово Господне, дом Иакова,
все кланы Израиля.
5Так говорит Господь:
Что за зло нашли во Мне ваши отцы,
что так отдалились от Меня?
Они поклонялись ничтожным идолам
и сами стали ничтожными.
6Они не спрашивали: «Где Господь,
Который вывел нас из Египта,
провел нас сквозь безлюдный край,
по земле пустынь и расселин,
по земле засухи и кромешной тьмы,
по земле, где никто не странствует,
и никто не живет?»
7Я привел вас в плодородную землю,
чтобы вы ели ее плоды и пользовались ее благами.
Но вы пришли и осквернили Мою землю,
и сделали Мой удел мерзостью.
8Не спрашивали священники:
«Где Господь?»
Учителя Закона Меня не знали;
вожди восстали против Меня.
Пророки пророчествовали от имени Баала2:8 Баал – ханаанский бог плодородия и бог-громовержец.
и поклонялись ничтожным идолам.
9Поэтому у Меня тяжба с вами, –
возвещает Господь, –
и тяжба с детьми ваших детей.
10Переправьтесь на побережья Кипра2:10 Букв.: «Киттима». и взгляните,
пойдите в Кедар2:10 Кедар – земля кочевий бедуинских племен в пустыне Аравии. и разведайте тщательно;
посмотрите, бывало ли что-нибудь подобное,
11менял ли какой народ своих богов?
(Хоть они и не боги вовсе.)
А Мой народ променял свою Славу
на ничтожных идолов.
12Поразитесь этому, небеса,
содрогнитесь от ужаса, –
возвещает Господь. –
13Два греха совершил Мой народ:
оставил Меня, источник живой воды,
и вытесал себе водоемы,
разбитые водоемы,
которые не могут хранить воду.
14Разве Израиль слуга?
Разве он раб по рождению?
Почему же он стал наживой?
15Львы взревели,
зарычали на него,
сделали его землю пустыней;
города его сожжены и покинуты жителями.
16А сыновья Мемфиса2:16 Евр.: «Ноф». и Тахпанхеса
обгрызли твое темя2:16 Или: «проломили тебе голову»..
17Разве не ты сама навлекла это на себя,
оставив Господа, своего Бога,
когда Он вел тебя по дороге?
18А теперь что толку ходить в Египет,
чтобы пить воду Шихора?2:18 Возможно «воду из реки Нил».
Какой прок ходить в Ассирию,
чтобы пить воду из реки Евфрата?2:18 За свою историю Израиль часто обращался за помощью не к Богу, а к Египту и Ассирии (см. ст. 36-37; Ис. 30:2-3; Ос. 5:13; 7:11).
19Твое беззаконие накажет тебя,
и твое отступничество осудит.
Подумай же и посмотри,
как плохо тебе и горько от того,
что оставила ты Господа, своего Бога,
и нет в тебе страха предо Мной, –
возвещает Владыка, Господь Сил. –
20Давным-давно ты разбила свое ярмо
и разорвала свои оковы,
и сказала: «Не буду служить!»
На любом высоком холме
и под каждым тенистым деревом
ты распутствовала2:20 Здесь образно говорится об идолопоклонстве в капищах на возвышенностях и в рощах, которое в глазах Бога является духовным блудом..
21Я посадил тебя благородной лозой
от самого чистого семени.
Как же превратилась ты у Меня
в пустоцвет и дикую лозу?
22Помоешься ли ты щелоком,
изведешь ли много мыла,
пятно твоего греха все равно передо Мной, –
возвещает Владыка Господь. –
23Как ты можешь говорить: «Я не осквернилась,
я не ходила вслед Баалам»?
Посмотри, как вела ты себя в долине,
подумай о том, что сделала.
Ты – норовистая верблюдица,
мечущаяся из стороны в сторону,
24дикая ослица, выросшая в пустыне,
задыхающаяся от страсти, –
кто умерит ее пыл?
Все, кто ищет ее, без труда
найдут ее в пору случки.
25Побереги свои ноги, чтобы не остаться разутой,
и свое горло – чтобы не пересохло.
Но ты сказала: «Бесполезно!
Я люблю чужих богов
и буду бегать за ними».
26Как вор опозорен, когда он пойман,
так будет опозорен и дом Израиля –
его народ, его цари, его вельможи,
его священники и пророки.
27Дереву они говорят: «Ты отец мой» –
и камню: «Ты меня родил».
Они повернулись ко Мне спиной,
а не лицами;
а когда случается беда, они говорят:
«Приди и спаси нас!»
28А где же те боги, которых вы сделали себе?
Пусть придут, если в силах спасти вас,
когда случится беда!
Ведь богов у тебя, Иудея,
столько же, сколько и городов.
29Почему вы хотите тягаться со Мной?
Все вы восстали против Меня, –
возвещает Господь. –
30Напрасно наказывал Я ваш народ –
урока вы не усвоили.
Ваш меч пожрал ваших пророков,
точно лев-убийца.
31О нынешнее поколение, поразмысли над словом Господним:
– Разве Я был пустыней Израилю
или краем кромешной тьмы?
Почему Мой народ говорит:
«Мы свободны бродить;
мы больше к Тебе не придем»?
32Позабудет ли девушка украшения,
и невеста – свой свадебный наряд?
А Меня народ Мой забыл
уже давным-давно.
33Как же умело ты домогаешься любви!
Даже блудницам есть чему у тебя поучиться.
34Найдена на твоих одеждах
кровь невинных бедняков,
которых ты убила,
хотя и не застала, как воров, при взломе2:34 Ср. Исх. 22:2-3..
Но, несмотря на все это,
35ты говоришь: «Я безвинна;
Он на меня не гневается».
Я осуждаю тебя
за то, что ты говоришь:
«Я не согрешила».
36Как легко тебе бродить,
меняя свой путь!
Ты будешь опозорена Египтом,
как была опозорена Ассирией.
37И уйдешь ты оттуда,
обхватив голову руками:
Господь отверг тех, кому ты поверила,
и они тебе не помогут.

5¶ Thus saith the LORD, What iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain? 6Neither said they, Where is the LORD that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, that led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and of pits, through a land of drought, and of the shadow of death, through a land that no man passed through, and where no man dwelt? 7And I brought you into a plentiful country, to eat the fruit thereof and the goodness thereof; but when ye entered, ye defiled my land, and made mine heritage an abomination.2.7 a plentiful…: or, the land of Carmel 8The priests said not, Where is the LORD? and they that handle the law knew me not: the pastors also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things that do not profit.
9¶ Wherefore I will yet plead with you, saith the LORD, and with your children’s children will I plead. 10For pass over the isles of Chittim, and see; and send unto Kedar, and consider diligently, and see if there be such a thing.2.10 over: or, over to 11Hath a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit. 12Be astonished, O ye heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate, saith the LORD. 13For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

29Wherefore will ye plead with me? ye all have transgressed against me, saith the LORD. 30In vain have I smitten your children; they received no correction: your own sword hath devoured your prophets, like a destroying lion.
31¶ O generation, see ye the word of the LORD. Have I been a wilderness unto Israel? a land of darkness? wherefore say my people, We are lords; we will come no more unto thee?2.31 We are…: Heb. We have dominion 32Can a maid forget her ornaments, or a bride her attire? yet my people have forgotten me days without number. 33Why trimmest thou thy way to seek love? therefore hast thou also taught the wicked ones thy ways. 34Also in thy skirts is found the blood of the souls of the poor innocents: I have not found it by secret search, but upon all these.2.34 secret…: Heb. digging 35Yet thou sayest, Because I am innocent, surely his anger shall turn from me. Behold, I will plead with thee, because thou sayest, I have not sinned. 36Why gaddest thou about so much to change thy way? thou also shalt be ashamed of Egypt, as thou wast ashamed of Assyria. 37Yea, thou shalt go forth from him, and thine hands upon thine head: for the LORD hath rejected thy confidences, and thou shalt not prosper in them.
