The seventh seal and the golden censer
1When he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.
2And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them.
3Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all God’s people, on the golden altar in front of the throne. 4The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of God’s people, went up before God from the angel’s hand. 5Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and hurled it on the earth; and there came peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning and an earthquake.
The trumpets
6Then the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared to sound them.
7The first angel sounded his trumpet, and there came hail and fire mixed with blood, and it was hurled down on the earth. A third of the earth was burned up, a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up.
8The second angel sounded his trumpet, and something like a huge mountain, all ablaze, was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea turned into blood, 9a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.
10The third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water – 11the name of the star is Wormwood.8:11 Wormwood is a bitter substance. A third of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that had become bitter.
12The fourth angel sounded his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them turned dark. A third of the day was without light, and also a third of the night.
13As I watched, I heard an eagle that was flying in mid-air call out in a loud voice: ‘Woe! Woe! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the other three angels!’
Siódma pieczęć
1Gdy Baranek złamał siódmą pieczęć, w całym niebie, na około pół godziny, zapanowała cisza. 2Zobaczyłem wtedy siedmiu aniołów, którzy stoją przed Bogiem—wręczono im siedem trąb.
3Przybył też inny anioł, trzymający złotą kadzielnicę, i stanął przy ołtarzu. Podano mu dużą ilość kadzidła, aby je zmieszał z modlitwami wszystkich świętych i ofiarował na złotym ołtarzu, znajdującym się przed tronem. 4Wtedy dym z kadzidła, wraz z modlitwami świętych, wzniósł się z ręki anioła ku Bogu. 5Następnie anioł napełnił kadzielnicę ogniem z ołtarza i zrzucił ją na ziemię, a wtedy rozległy się potężne grzmoty oraz błyskawice i zatrzęsła się ziemia.
Trąby
6Tymczasem siedmiu aniołów, mających siedem trąb, przygotowało się do tego, aby zatrąbić.
7Gdy zatrąbił pierwszy z nich, na ziemię spadł grad i ogień zmieszany z krwią. Jedna trzecia część ziemi stanęła wtedy w płomieniach i spaliła się jedna trzecia drzew oraz wszystkie polne rośliny.
8Gdy zatrąbił drugi anioł, coś przypominającego wyglądem ogromną płonącą górę zostało wrzucone do morza. Jedna trzecia wód stała się wtedy czerwona jak krew. 9Wyginęła też jedna trzecia morskich zwierząt i została zniszczona jedna trzecia wszystkich okrętów.
10Gdy zatrąbił trzeci anioł, ogromna płonąca gwiazda spadła z nieba na jedną trzecią rzek oraz na źródła, z których wypływała woda. 11Gwiazda ta zatruła jedną trzecią wszystkich wód, dlatego nazwano ją Goryczą. Woda zyskała bowiem gorzki smak i zabiła wielu ludzi.
12Gdy zatrąbił czwarty anioł, słońce, księżyc i gwiazdy straciły jedną trzecią jasności. W ciągu dnia było o jedną trzecią ciemniej, a również noc stała się o jedną trzecią ciemniejsza niż dotychczas.
13Wtedy zobaczyłem orła lecącego środkiem nieba i usłyszałem jego głos. Trzykrotnie zawołał on: „Marny będzie los ziemi, gdy zatrąbią pozostali trzej aniołowie!”.
