Hezekiah’s illness
1In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, ‘This is what the Lord says: put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.’
2Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, 3‘Remember, Lord, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes.’ And Hezekiah wept bitterly.
4Then the word of the Lord came to Isaiah: 5‘Go and tell Hezekiah, “This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will add fifteen years to your life. 6And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city.
7‘ “This is the Lord’s sign to you that the Lord will do what he has promised: 8I will make the shadow cast by the sun go back the ten steps it has gone down on the stairway of Ahaz.” ’ So the sunlight went back the ten steps it had gone down.
9A writing of Hezekiah king of Judah after his illness and recovery:
10I said, ‘In the prime of my life
must I go through the gates of death
and be robbed of the rest of my years?’
11I said, ‘I will not again see the Lord himself
in the land of the living;
no longer will I look on my fellow man,
or be with those who now dwell in this world.
12Like a shepherd’s tent my house
has been pulled down and taken from me.
Like a weaver I have rolled up my life,
and he has cut me off from the loom;
day and night you made an end of me.
13I waited patiently till dawn,
but like a lion he broke all my bones;
day and night you made an end of me.
14I cried like a swift or thrush,
I moaned like a mourning dove.
My eyes grew weak as I looked to the heavens.
I am being threatened; Lord, come to my aid!’
15But what can I say?
He has spoken to me, and he himself has done this.
I will walk humbly all my years
because of this anguish of my soul.
16Lord, by such things people live;
and my spirit finds life in them too.
You restored me to health
and let me live.
17Surely it was for my benefit
that I suffered such anguish.
In your love you kept me
from the pit of destruction;
you have put all my sins
behind your back.
18For the grave cannot praise you,
death cannot sing your praise;
those who go down to the pit
cannot hope for your faithfulness.
19The living, the living – they praise you,
as I am doing today;
parents tell their children
about your faithfulness.
20The Lord will save me,
and we will sing with stringed instruments
all the days of our lives
in the temple of the Lord.
21Isaiah had said, ‘Prepare a poultice of figs and apply it to the boil, and he will recover.’
22Hezekiah had asked, ‘What will be the sign that I will go up to the temple of the Lord?’
Ang Pagmasakit ni Hezekia
(2 Har. 20:1-11; 2 Cro. 32:24-26)
1Sadto nga tion, nagmasakit si Hezekia kag daw mapatay na siya. Nagkadto sa iya si Propeta Isaias nga anak ni Amoz kag nagsiling, “Nagasiling ang Ginoo nga himuon mo na ang nagakadapat mo nga himuon kay indi ka na mag-ayo kundi mapatay ka.”
2Pagkabati sini ni Hezekia, nag-atubang siya sa dingding kag nagpangamuyo sa Ginoo. 3Siling niya, “Ginoo, dumduma kon paano ako nagkabuhi nga matutom sa imo kag nag-alagad sing tinagipusuon, kag kon paano ako naghimo sing maayo sa imo panulok.” Kag naghilibion siya sing tudo.
4Nagsiling ang Ginoo kay Isaias 5nga magbalik siya kay Hezekia kag ihambal ini: “Amo ini ang ginasiling sang Ginoo, ang Dios sang imo katigulangan nga si David: Nabatian ko ang imo pangamuyo kag nakita ko ang imo mga luha. Dugangan ko pa sang 15 ka tuig ang imo kabuhi. 6Luwason ko ikaw kag ang ini nga siyudad sa kamot sang hari sang Asiria. Protektaran ko ini nga siyudad. 7Amo ini ang tanda nga akon ihatag sa pagpamatuod nga tumanon ko ining akon promisa: 8Pabalikon ko sing napulo ka gutlo ang landong sang adlaw sa orasan nga ginpahimo ni Ahaz.” Kag natuman ini.
9Amo ini ang ginsulat ni Haring Hezekia sang Juda sang nag-ayo na siya sa iya sakit: 10Abi ko nga mapatay na ako nga bataon pa, kag magpabilin sa lugar sang mga patay. 11Abi ko indi ko na makita ang Ginoo diri sa kalibutan sang mga buhi, ukon indi ko na makita ang mga tawo sa sini nga kalibutan. 12Diutayan lang madula ang akon kabuhi pareho sa tolda sang manugbantay sang karnero nga ginpalid. Halin sa aga hasta sa gab-i naghulat ako nga tapuson mo na ang akon kabuhi. 13Naghulat ako nga mapainubuson hasta sa kaagahon, nga nagahunahuna nga mapatay ako nga daw sa ginadugmok sang leon ang akon mga tul-an. Halin sa aga hasta sa gab-i naghulat ako nga tapuson mo na ang akon kabuhi. 14Nagpangayo ako sang bulig nga ang akon tingog daw sa huni sang salimbabatang ukon dugwak. Nag-ugayong ako nga daw sa huni sang pating. Ginkapoy ang akon mga mata sa pagtangla sa langit. Ginoo, buligi ako sa sini nga kalisod.
15Pero ano pa ang masiling ko? Kay ginsabat na niya ako kag siya mismo ang nag-ayo sa akon. Magakabuhi ako sing mapainubuson tungod sa mapait nakon nga inagihan.
16Paagi sini, Ginoo, nagabaskog ang kabuhi sang tawo, kag ako mismo nagbaskog. Gin-ayo mo ako kag gintugutan nga mabuhi. 17Matuod nga ang akon gin-antos para sa akon kaayuhan. Tungod sa imo gugma, ginluwas mo ako sa kalaglagan kag ginpatawad mo ang akon mga sala. 18Kay paano pa ako makadayaw sa imo kon patay na ako? Ang mga patay indi na makadayaw sa imo ukon makalaom sang imo pagkamatutom. 19Ang mga buhi amo lang ang makadayaw sa imo pareho sang akon ginahimo subong. Ang tagsa ka henerasyon magasugid sa masunod nga henerasyon sang imo katutom. 20Ginoo, ikaw ang akon manluluwas, gani sa bug-os namon nga kabuhi, magakanta kami sa imo templo nga nagatukar sang mga instrumento.
21Sang wala pa mag-ayo si Hezekia, ginsilingan siya ni Isaias nga pahampulan niya sa iya mga suluguon ang iya hubag sang gindunot nga higos38:21 higos: ang bunga sang kahoy nga higera (ukon, fig tree). agod nga mag-ayo siya. 22Nagpamangkot si Hezekia, “Ano bala ang tanda nga magapamatuod nga magaayo ako kag makakadto sa templo sang Ginoo?”
