The death of Moses
1Then Moses climbed Mount Nebo from the plains of Moab to the top of Pisgah, opposite Jericho. There the Lord showed him the whole land – from Gilead to Dan, 2all of Naphtali, the territory of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the Mediterranean Sea, 3the Negev and the whole region from the Valley of Jericho, the City of Palms, as far as Zoar. 4Then the Lord said to him, ‘This is the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob when I said, “I will give it to your descendants.” I have let you see it with your eyes, but you will not cross over into it.’
5And Moses the servant of the Lord died there in Moab, as the Lord had said. 6He buried him34:6 Or He was buried in Moab, in the valley opposite Beth Peor, but to this day no-one knows where his grave is. 7Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died, yet his eyes were not weak nor his strength gone. 8The Israelites grieved for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days, until the time of weeping and mourning was over.
9Now Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit34:9 Or Spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him. So the Israelites listened to him and did what the Lord had commanded Moses.
10Since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face, 11who did all those signs and wonders the Lord sent him to do in Egypt – to Pharaoh and to all his officials and to his whole land. 12For no-one has ever shown the mighty power or performed the awesome deeds that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.

Kumeneko Yehova anamuonetsa dziko lonse; kuchokera ku Giliyadi mpaka ku Dani. 2Dera lonse la Nafutali, dziko lonse la Efereimu ndi Manase, dziko lonse la Yuda mpaka kukafika kumadzulo kwa nyanja, 3Negevi ndi chigawo chonse kuchokera ku Chigwa cha Yeriko, Mzinda wa mitengo ya migwalangwa, mpaka ku Zowari. 4Kenaka Yehova anawuza Mose kuti, “Limenelo ndi dziko limene ndinalonjeza mwa lumbiro kwa Abrahamu, Isake ndi Yakobo pamene ndinanena kuti, ‘Ndidzalipereka kwa zidzukulu zanu.’ Ndakulola kuti ulione, koma sudzawoloka kuti ukalowemo.”
5Choncho Mose mtumiki wa Yehova anamwalira kumeneko ku Mowabu, monga momwe ananenera Yehova. 6Yehova anamuyika mʼmanda ku Mowabu, mʼchigwa choyangʼanana ndi Beti-Peori, koma mpaka lero palibe amene amadziwa pamene pali manda ake. 7Mose anamwalira ali ndi zaka 120, koma maso ake ankaonabe ndipo anali amphamvu. 8Aisraeli analira maliro a Mose mʼchikhwawa cha Mowabu kwa masiku makumi atatu mpaka nthawi ya kulira maliro ndi kukhuza inatha.
9Tsono Yoswa, mwana wa Nuni anadzazidwa ndi mzimu wanzeru chifukwa nʼkuti Mose atamusanjika manja. Choncho Aisraeli anamumvera ndipo anachita zomwe Yehova analamula Mose.
10Kuyambira nthawi imeneyi, mu Israeli simunakhalepo mneneri wina aliyense wofanana ndi Mose, amene Yehova amayankhula naye maso ndi maso. 11Amene anachita zizindikiro zozizwitsa zonsezi ndi zozizwitsa zimene Yehova anamutuma kuti achite mu Igupto, kwa Farao ndi kwa nduna zake zonse ndiponso mʼdziko lake lonse. 12Ndithudi palibe mneneri wina aliyense amene anachita zinthu zazikulu ndi zoopsa zofanana ndi zomwe Mose anachita pamaso pa Aisraeli onse.
