The Passover
1The Lord spoke to Moses in the Desert of Sinai in the first month of the second year after they came out of Egypt. He said, 2“Have the Israelites celebrate the Passover at the appointed time. 3Celebrate it at the appointed time, at twilight on the fourteenth day of this month, in accordance with all its rules and regulations.”
4So Moses told the Israelites to celebrate the Passover, 5and they did so in the Desert of Sinai at twilight on the fourteenth day of the first month. The Israelites did everything just as the Lord commanded Moses.
6But some of them could not celebrate the Passover on that day because they were ceremonially unclean on account of a dead body. So they came to Moses and Aaron that same day 7and said to Moses, “We have become unclean because of a dead body, but why should we be kept from presenting the Lord’s offering with the other Israelites at the appointed time?”
8Moses answered them, “Wait until I find out what the Lord commands concerning you.”
9Then the Lord said to Moses, 10“Tell the Israelites: ‘When any of you or your descendants are unclean because of a dead body or are away on a journey, they are still to celebrate the Lord’s Passover, 11but they are to do it on the fourteenth day of the second month at twilight. They are to eat the lamb, together with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. 12They must not leave any of it till morning or break any of its bones. When they celebrate the Passover, they must follow all the regulations. 13But if anyone who is ceremonially clean and not on a journey fails to celebrate the Passover, they must be cut off from their people for not presenting the Lord’s offering at the appointed time. They will bear the consequences of their sin.
14“ ‘A foreigner residing among you is also to celebrate the Lord’s Passover in accordance with its rules and regulations. You must have the same regulations for both the foreigner and the native-born.’ ”
The Cloud Above the Tabernacle
15On the day the tabernacle, the tent of the covenant law, was set up, the cloud covered it. From evening till morning the cloud above the tabernacle looked like fire. 16That is how it continued to be; the cloud covered it, and at night it looked like fire. 17Whenever the cloud lifted from above the tent, the Israelites set out; wherever the cloud settled, the Israelites encamped. 18At the Lord’s command the Israelites set out, and at his command they encamped. As long as the cloud stayed over the tabernacle, they remained in camp. 19When the cloud remained over the tabernacle a long time, the Israelites obeyed the Lord’s order and did not set out. 20Sometimes the cloud was over the tabernacle only a few days; at the Lord’s command they would encamp, and then at his command they would set out. 21Sometimes the cloud stayed only from evening till morning, and when it lifted in the morning, they set out. Whether by day or by night, whenever the cloud lifted, they set out. 22Whether the cloud stayed over the tabernacle for two days or a month or a year, the Israelites would remain in camp and not set out; but when it lifted, they would set out. 23At the Lord’s command they encamped, and at the Lord’s command they set out. They obeyed the Lord’s order, in accordance with his command through Moses.
Celebrarea Paștelui în Sinai

4Moise le‑a spus fiilor lui Israel să țină Paștele. 5Ei au ținut Paștele în luna întâi, în a paisprezecea zi, între cele două seri, în pustia Sinai. Fiii lui Israel au făcut așa cum Domnul i‑a poruncit lui Moise.
6Au existat însă niște oameni care, fiind necurați din cauză că se atinseseră de un mort, n‑au putut ține Paștele în ziua aceea.
Ei s‑au înfățișat înaintea lui Moise și a lui Aaron în aceeași zi 7și i‑au zis lui Moise:
– Noi suntem necurați din cauză că ne‑am atins de un mort, dar de ce trebuie să fim împiedicați să aducem ofrandă Domnului la vremea hotărâtă, împreună cu ceilalți fii ai lui Israel?
8Moise le‑a zis:
– Așteptați până voi afla ce va porunci Domnul cu privire la voi.
9Domnul i‑a vorbit lui Moise, zicând: 10„Vorbește‑le fiilor lui Israel și spune‑le: «Dacă cineva dintre voi sau din generațiile voastre viitoare va fi necurat din cauză că s‑a atins de un mort sau dacă va fi departe în călătorie, va putea totuși să țină Paștele Domnului. 11Să‑l țină în luna a doua, în a paisprezecea zi, între cele două seri. Să mănânce mielul de Paște cu azime și cu ierburi amare. 12Să nu lase nimic din el până dimineața și să nu‑i zdrobească niciun os. Să țină Paștele conform tuturor hotărârilor luate cu privire la el. 13Dar dacă cineva este și curat, și nici nu este plecat în călătorie, dar se abține să țină Paștele, să fie nimicit din popor lui pentru că n‑a adus ofrandă Domnului la vremea hotărâtă. Un astfel de om își va purta păcatul. 14Orice străin care locuiește între voi și dorește să sărbătorească Paștele Domnului, să facă acest lucru potrivit legii Paștelui, ținând cont de hotărârile date cu privire la el. Să aveți o singură lege atât pentru străin, cât și pentru băștinaș.»“
Norul de deasupra Tabernaculului
15În ziua când a fost înălțat Tabernaculul, norul a acoperit Tabernaculul, Cortul Mărturiei. De seara până dimineața era deasupra Tabernaculului, arătând ca un foc. 16Așa era tot timpul: ziua, norul acoperea Tabernaculul, iar noaptea arăta ca un foc. 17Când norul se ridica de deasupra Cortului, fiii lui Israel porneau și, în locul unde se oprea norul, acolo își așezau tabăra fiii lui Israel. 18La porunca Domnului fiii lui Israel porneau, și la porunca Domnului își așezau tabăra. Ei rămâneau în tabără atâtea zile cât norul stătea deasupra Tabernaculului. 19Când norul rămânea mai multe zile deasupra Tabernaculului, fiii lui Israel păzeau îndatorirea dată de Domnul și nu porneau. 20Uneori norul rămânea un număr mai mic de zile deasupra Tabernaculului; la porunca Domnului rămâneau în tabără și la porunca Domnului porneau. 21Uneori norul rămânea de seara până dimineața, astfel că ei porneau dimineața, când norul se ridica. Dacă norul rămânea o zi și o noapte, ei porneau atunci când se ridica. 22Dacă norul rămânea deasupra Tabernaculului două zile sau o lună sau mai multe zile, fiii lui Israel rămâneau în tabără și nu porneau. Ei porneau când acesta se ridica. 23La porunca Domnului își așezau tabăra și la porunca Domnului porneau. Ei păzeau îndatorirea dată de Domnul, potrivit cu porunca Domnului dată prin Moise.
