The Priests Begin Their Ministry
1On the eighth day Moses summoned Aaron and his sons and the elders of Israel. 2He said to Aaron, “Take a bull calf for your sin offering9:2 Or purification offering; here and throughout this chapter and a ram for your burnt offering, both without defect, and present them before the Lord. 3Then say to the Israelites: ‘Take a male goat for a sin offering, a calf and a lamb—both a year old and without defect—for a burnt offering, 4and an ox9:4 The Hebrew word can refer to either male or female; also in verses 18 and 19. and a ram for a fellowship offering to sacrifice before the Lord, together with a grain offering mixed with olive oil. For today the Lord will appear to you.’ ”
5They took the things Moses commanded to the front of the tent of meeting, and the entire assembly came near and stood before the Lord. 6Then Moses said, “This is what the Lord has commanded you to do, so that the glory of the Lord may appear to you.”
7Moses said to Aaron, “Come to the altar and sacrifice your sin offering and your burnt offering and make atonement for yourself and the people; sacrifice the offering that is for the people and make atonement for them, as the Lord has commanded.”
8So Aaron came to the altar and slaughtered the calf as a sin offering for himself. 9His sons brought the blood to him, and he dipped his finger into the blood and put it on the horns of the altar; the rest of the blood he poured out at the base of the altar. 10On the altar he burned the fat, the kidneys and the long lobe of the liver from the sin offering, as the Lord commanded Moses; 11the flesh and the hide he burned up outside the camp.
12Then he slaughtered the burnt offering. His sons handed him the blood, and he splashed it against the sides of the altar. 13They handed him the burnt offering piece by piece, including the head, and he burned them on the altar. 14He washed the internal organs and the legs and burned them on top of the burnt offering on the altar.
15Aaron then brought the offering that was for the people. He took the goat for the people’s sin offering and slaughtered it and offered it for a sin offering as he did with the first one.
16He brought the burnt offering and offered it in the prescribed way. 17He also brought the grain offering, took a handful of it and burned it on the altar in addition to the morning’s burnt offering.
18He slaughtered the ox and the ram as the fellowship offering for the people. His sons handed him the blood, and he splashed it against the sides of the altar. 19But the fat portions of the ox and the ram—the fat tail, the layer of fat, the kidneys and the long lobe of the liver— 20these they laid on the breasts, and then Aaron burned the fat on the altar. 21Aaron waved the breasts and the right thigh before the Lord as a wave offering, as Moses commanded.
22Then Aaron lifted his hands toward the people and blessed them. And having sacrificed the sin offering, the burnt offering and the fellowship offering, he stepped down.
23Moses and Aaron then went into the tent of meeting. When they came out, they blessed the people; and the glory of the Lord appeared to all the people. 24Fire came out from the presence of the Lord and consumed the burnt offering and the fat portions on the altar. And when all the people saw it, they shouted for joy and fell facedown.
Os Sacerdotes Começam o seu Ministério
1Oito dias depois, Moisés convocou Arão, seus filhos e as autoridades de Israel. 2E disse a Arão: “Traga um bezerro para a oferta pelo pecado e um carneiro para o holocausto, ambos sem defeito, e apresente-os ao Senhor. 3Depois diga aos israelitas: Tragam um bode para oferta pelo pecado; um bezerro e um cordeiro, ambos de um ano de idade e sem defeito, para holocausto; 4e um boi9.4 A palavra hebraica pode significar boi ou vaca. e um carneiro para oferta de comunhão, para os sacrificar perante o Senhor, com a oferta de cereal amassada com óleo; pois hoje o Senhor aparecerá a vocês”.
5Levaram então tudo o que Moisés tinha determinado para a frente da Tenda do Encontro, e a comunidade inteira aproximou-se e ficou em pé perante o Senhor. 6Disse-lhes Moisés: “Foi isso que o Senhor ordenou que façam, para que a glória do Senhor apareça a vocês”.
7Disse Moisés a Arão: “Venha até o altar e ofereça o seu sacrifício pelo pecado e o seu holocausto, e faça propiciação por você mesmo e pelo povo; ofereça o sacrifício pelo povo e faça propiciação por ele, conforme o Senhor ordenou”.
8Arão foi até o altar e ofereceu o bezerro como sacrifício pelo pecado por si mesmo. 9Seus filhos levaram-lhe o sangue, e ele molhou o dedo no sangue e o pôs nas pontas do altar; depois derramou o restante do sangue na base do altar, 10onde queimou a gordura, os rins e o lóbulo do fígado da oferta pelo pecado, conforme o Senhor tinha ordenado a Moisés; 11a carne e o couro, porém, queimou fora do acampamento.
12Depois sacrificou o holocausto. Seus filhos lhe entregaram o sangue, e ele o derramou nos lados do altar. 13Entregaram-lhe, em seguida, o holocausto pedaço por pedaço, inclusive a cabeça, e ele os queimou no altar. 14Lavou as vísceras e as pernas e as queimou em cima do holocausto sobre o altar.
15Depois Arão apresentou a oferta pelo povo. Pegou o bode para a oferta pelo pecado do povo e o ofereceu como sacrifício pelo pecado, como fizera com o primeiro.
16Apresentou o holocausto e ofereceu-o conforme fora prescrito. 17Também apresentou a oferta de cereal, pegou um punhado dela e a queimou no altar, além do holocausto da manhã.
18Matou o boi e o carneiro como sacrifício de comunhão pelo povo. Seus filhos levaram-lhe o sangue, e ele o derramou nos lados do altar. 19Mas as porções de gordura do boi e do carneiro, a cauda gorda, a gordura que cobre as vísceras, os rins e o lóbulo do fígado, 20puseram em cima do peito; e Arão queimou essas porções no altar. 21Em seguida, Arão moveu o peito e a coxa direita do animal perante o Senhor como gesto ritual de apresentação, conforme Moisés tinha ordenado.
22Depois Arão ergueu as mãos em direção ao povo e o abençoou. E, tendo oferecido o sacrifício pelo pecado, o holocausto e o sacrifício de comunhão, desceu.
23Assim Moisés e Arão entraram na Tenda do Encontro. Quando saíram, abençoaram o povo; e a glória do Senhor apareceu a todos eles. 24Saiu fogo da presença do Senhor e consumiu o holocausto e as porções de gordura sobre o altar. E, quando todo o povo viu isso, gritou de alegria e prostrou-se com o rosto em terra.
