The Appointed Festivals
1The Lord said to Moses, 2“Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘These are my appointed festivals, the appointed festivals of the Lord, which you are to proclaim as sacred assemblies.
The Sabbath
3“ ‘There are six days when you may work, but the seventh day is a day of sabbath rest, a day of sacred assembly. You are not to do any work; wherever you live, it is a sabbath to the Lord.
The Passover and the Festival of Unleavened Bread
4“ ‘These are the Lord’s appointed festivals, the sacred assemblies you are to proclaim at their appointed times: 5The Lord’s Passover begins at twilight on the fourteenth day of the first month. 6On the fifteenth day of that month the Lord’s Festival of Unleavened Bread begins; for seven days you must eat bread made without yeast. 7On the first day hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work. 8For seven days present a food offering to the Lord. And on the seventh day hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work.’ ”
Offering the Firstfruits
9The Lord said to Moses, 10“Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘When you enter the land I am going to give you and you reap its harvest, bring to the priest a sheaf of the first grain you harvest. 11He is to wave the sheaf before the Lord so it will be accepted on your behalf; the priest is to wave it on the day after the Sabbath. 12On the day you wave the sheaf, you must sacrifice as a burnt offering to the Lord a lamb a year old without defect, 13together with its grain offering of two-tenths of an ephah23:13 That is, probably about 7 pounds or about 3.2 kilograms; also in verse 17 of the finest flour mixed with olive oil—a food offering presented to the Lord, a pleasing aroma—and its drink offering of a quarter of a hin23:13 That is, about 1 quart or about 1 liter of wine. 14You must not eat any bread, or roasted or new grain, until the very day you bring this offering to your God. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live.
The Festival of Weeks
15“ ‘From the day after the Sabbath, the day you brought the sheaf of the wave offering, count off seven full weeks. 16Count off fifty days up to the day after the seventh Sabbath, and then present an offering of new grain to the Lord. 17From wherever you live, bring two loaves made of two-tenths of an ephah of the finest flour, baked with yeast, as a wave offering of firstfruits to the Lord. 18Present with this bread seven male lambs, each a year old and without defect, one young bull and two rams. They will be a burnt offering to the Lord, together with their grain offerings and drink offerings—a food offering, an aroma pleasing to the Lord. 19Then sacrifice one male goat for a sin offering23:19 Or purification offering and two lambs, each a year old, for a fellowship offering. 20The priest is to wave the two lambs before the Lord as a wave offering, together with the bread of the firstfruits. They are a sacred offering to the Lord for the priest. 21On that same day you are to proclaim a sacred assembly and do no regular work. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live.
22“ ‘When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Leave them for the poor and for the foreigner residing among you. I am the Lord your God.’ ”
The Festival of Trumpets
23The Lord said to Moses, 24“Say to the Israelites: ‘On the first day of the seventh month you are to have a day of sabbath rest, a sacred assembly commemorated with trumpet blasts. 25Do no regular work, but present a food offering to the Lord.’ ”
The Day of Atonement
26The Lord said to Moses, 27“The tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. Hold a sacred assembly and deny yourselves,23:27 Or and fast; similarly in verses 29 and 32 and present a food offering to the Lord. 28Do not do any work on that day, because it is the Day of Atonement, when atonement is made for you before the Lord your God. 29Those who do not deny themselves on that day must be cut off from their people. 30I will destroy from among their people anyone who does any work on that day. 31You shall do no work at all. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live. 32It is a day of sabbath rest for you, and you must deny yourselves. From the evening of the ninth day of the month until the following evening you are to observe your sabbath.”
The Festival of Tabernacles
33The Lord said to Moses, 34“Say to the Israelites: ‘On the fifteenth day of the seventh month the Lord’s Festival of Tabernacles begins, and it lasts for seven days. 35The first day is a sacred assembly; do no regular work. 36For seven days present food offerings to the Lord, and on the eighth day hold a sacred assembly and present a food offering to the Lord. It is the closing special assembly; do no regular work.
37(“ ‘These are the Lord’s appointed festivals, which you are to proclaim as sacred assemblies for bringing food offerings to the Lord—the burnt offerings and grain offerings, sacrifices and drink offerings required for each day. 38These offerings are in addition to those for the Lord’s Sabbaths and23:38 Or These festivals are in addition to the Lord’s Sabbaths, and these offerings are in addition to your gifts and whatever you have vowed and all the freewill offerings you give to the Lord.)
39“ ‘So beginning with the fifteenth day of the seventh month, after you have gathered the crops of the land, celebrate the festival to the Lord for seven days; the first day is a day of sabbath rest, and the eighth day also is a day of sabbath rest. 40On the first day you are to take branches from luxuriant trees—from palms, willows and other leafy trees—and rejoice before the Lord your God for seven days. 41Celebrate this as a festival to the Lord for seven days each year. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come; celebrate it in the seventh month. 42Live in temporary shelters for seven days: All native-born Israelites are to live in such shelters 43so your descendants will know that I had the Israelites live in temporary shelters when I brought them out of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.’ ”
44So Moses announced to the Israelites the appointed festivals of the Lord.

Paștele și Sărbătoarea Azimelor

4Acestea sunt sărbătorile Domnului, adunările sfinte, pe care le veți vesti la vremea lor hotărâtă. 5În a paisprezecea zi a lunii întâi, între cele două seri5 Între amurg și întunericul propriu‑zis al nopții, moment în care mielul pascal era sacrificat., va fi Paștele Domnului, 6iar în a cincisprezecea zi a acestei luni va fi Sărbătoarea Azimelor în cinstea Domnului; timp de șapte zile să mâncați azime. 7În prima zi să aveți o adunare sfântă. Să nu faceți nicio muncă obișnuită.7 Sau: muncă obositoare. 8Apoi, timp de șapte zile să aduceți Domnului jertfe mistuite de foc, iar în ziua a șaptea să aveți o adunare sfântă; să nu faceți nicio muncă obișnuită.»“
Sărbătoarea Primelor Roade
9Domnul i‑a vorbit lui Moise, zicând: 10„Vorbește‑le fiilor lui Israel și spune‑le: «Când veți intra în țara pe care v‑o voi da și veți aduna recolta, să aduceți preotului un snop din primele roade ale secerișului. 11Să legene snopul înaintea Domnului ca voi să fiți primiți; preotul să‑l legene la o zi după Sabat. 12În ziua când veți legăna snopul, să jertfiți un miel de un an, fără meteahnă, ca ardere‑de‑tot pentru Domnul. 13Să adăugați la el un dar de mâncare din două zecimi dintr‑o efă13, 17 Vezi nota de la 14:10; aproximativ 4,5 l. de făină aleasă, amestecată cu untdelemn, ca jertfă mistuită de foc de o aromă plăcută Domnului și o jertfă de băutură de un sfert de hin13 Vezi nota de la 19:36; aproximativ 0,9 l. de vin. 14Să nu mâncați nici pâine, nici spice prăjite, nici boabe, până în ziua aceasta, când veți aduce această ofrandă Dumnezeului vostru: aceasta este o hotărâre veșnică de‑a lungul generațiilor voastre în toate locuințele voastre.
Sărbătoarea Săptămânilor15 Titlu. Numită, în Noul Testament, Sărbătoarea Cincizecimii.
(Num. 28:26-31; Deut. 16:9-12)
15Din ziua de după Sabat, adică din ziua în care veți aduce snopul ca jertfă legănată, să numărați șapte săptămâni întregi. 16Să numărați cincizeci de zile până în ziua următoare celui de‑al șaptelea Sabat, după care să aduceți Domnului un nou dar de mâncare. 17Să aduceți din locuințele voastre două pâini ca jertfă legănată. Să fie făcute din două zecimi de efă de făină aleasă și să fie coapte după ce s‑a dospit aluatul. Acestea sunt cele dintâi roade pentru Domnul. 18Împreună cu pâinile să aduceți, ca ardere‑de‑tot pentru Domnul, șapte miei de un an, fără meteahnă, un taur din turmă și doi berbeci. La acestea să adăugați darul de mâncare și jertfele de băutură ca jertfă mistuită de foc de o aromă plăcută Domnului. 19Să aduceți și un țap ca jertfă pentru păcat și doi miei de un an ca jertfă de pace19 Vezi nota de la 3:1.. 20Preotul să le legene ca jertfă legănată înaintea Domnului împreună cu pâinea adusă din primele roade și cu cei doi miei; ele să fie închinate Domnului și să rămână ale preotului. 21În aceeași zi, să vestiți o adunare sfântă; atunci să nu faceți nicio muncă obișnuită. Aceasta este o hotărâre veșnică în toate locuințele voastre de‑a lungul generațiilor voastre.
22Când veți aduna recolta țării voastre, să nu aduni recolta de la marginea ogorului și să nu strângi spicele care vor rămâne după secerișul tău. Să le lași pentru cel sărac și pentru străin. Eu sunt Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru.»“
Sărbătoarea Trâmbițelor
(Num. 29:1-6)
23Domnul i‑a vorbit lui Moise, zicând: 24„Vorbește‑le fiilor lui Israel și spune‑le: «În prima zi a lunii a șaptea24 Luna Tișri, septembrie-octombrie; mai târziu, Anul Nou, deoarece marca sfârșitul anului agricol și începutul unui nou sezon. să aveți o zi de odihnă24 Termenul ebraic șabbaton. Vezi nota de la Ex. 16:23., o aducere-aminte vestită cu sunet de trâmbiță24 Sărbătoarea era anunțată, cel mai probabil, prin sunetul șofarului, al cornului de berbec (pentru șofar, vezi nota de la 25:9)., o adunare sfântă. 25Să nu faceți nicio muncă obișnuită în timpul ei și să aduceți Domnului jertfe mistuite de foc.»“
Ziua Ispășirii
(Lev. 16; Num. 29:7-11)
26Domnul i‑a vorbit lui Moise, zicând: 27„În a zecea zi a lunii a șaptea să fie Ziua Ispășirii. Atunci să aveți o adunare sfântă, să vă smeriți sufletele27, 29, 32 Sau: să postiți. și să aduceți Domnului jertfe mistuite de foc. 28Să nu faceți nicio lucrare în ziua aceea, căci este Ziua Ispășirii, când se face ispășire pentru voi înaintea Domnului, Dumnezeul vostru. 29Acela care nu se va smeri în ziua aceea, va fi nimicit din poporul său. 30Pe acela care va face orice fel de lucrare în ziua aceea îl voi nimici din mijlocul poporului său. 31Să nu faceți nicio lucrare. Aceasta este o hotărâre veșnică de‑a lungul generațiilor voastre în toate locurile în care veți locui. 32Este un Sabat, o zi de odihnă32 Expresia ebraică șabbat șabbaton. 33Domnul i‑a vorbit lui Moise, zicând: 34„Vorbește‑le fiilor lui Israel și spune‑le: «În a cincisprezecea zi a acestei a șaptea luni să țineți Sărbătoarea Corturilor în cinstea Domnului, timp de șapte zile. 35În prima zi să aveți o adunare sfântă; să nu faceți nicio muncă obișnuită. 36Timp de șapte zile să aduceți Domnului jertfe mistuite de foc. În ziua a opta să aveți o adunare sfântă și să aduceți Domnului jertfe mistuite de foc. Este o adunare solemnă36 Sau: adunare de încheiere.; să nu faceți nicio muncă obișnuită.
37Acestea sunt sărbătorile Domnului, cu ocazia cărora veți vesti adunări sfinte, pentru a aduce Domnului o jertfă mistuită de foc – o ardere‑de‑tot și un dar de mâncare, o jertfă și jertfe de băutură, fiecare la vremea hotărâtă 38– în afară de Sabatele Domnului, în afară de darurile voastre, de toate jurămintele și de toate darurile voastre de bunăvoie pe care le oferiți Domnului.

Toți băștinașii din Israel să locuiască în corturi, 43pentru ca generațiile voastre să știe că Eu i‑am făcut pe fiii lui Israel să locuiască în corturi, după ce i‑am scos din țara Egiptului. Eu sunt Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru.»“
44Și astfel, Moise le‑a spus fiilor lui Israel care sunt sărbătorile Domnului.
