1The Lord said to Moses, 2“Tell Aaron and his sons to treat with respect the sacred offerings the Israelites consecrate to me, so they will not profane my holy name. I am the Lord.
3“Say to them: ‘For the generations to come, if any of your descendants is ceremonially unclean and yet comes near the sacred offerings that the Israelites consecrate to the Lord, that person must be cut off from my presence. I am the Lord.
4“ ‘If a descendant of Aaron has a defiling skin disease22:4 The Hebrew word for defiling skin disease, traditionally translated “leprosy,” was used for various diseases affecting the skin. or a bodily discharge, he may not eat the sacred offerings until he is cleansed. He will also be unclean if he touches something defiled by a corpse or by anyone who has an emission of semen, 5or if he touches any crawling thing that makes him unclean, or any person who makes him unclean, whatever the uncleanness may be. 6The one who touches any such thing will be unclean till evening. He must not eat any of the sacred offerings unless he has bathed himself with water. 7When the sun goes down, he will be clean, and after that he may eat the sacred offerings, for they are his food. 8He must not eat anything found dead or torn by wild animals, and so become unclean through it. I am the Lord.
9“ ‘The priests are to perform my service in such a way that they do not become guilty and die for treating it with contempt. I am the Lord, who makes them holy.
10“ ‘No one outside a priest’s family may eat the sacred offering, nor may the guest of a priest or his hired worker eat it. 11But if a priest buys a slave with money, or if slaves are born in his household, they may eat his food. 12If a priest’s daughter marries anyone other than a priest, she may not eat any of the sacred contributions. 13But if a priest’s daughter becomes a widow or is divorced, yet has no children, and she returns to live in her father’s household as in her youth, she may eat her father’s food. No unauthorized person, however, may eat it.
14“ ‘Anyone who eats a sacred offering by mistake must make restitution to the priest for the offering and add a fifth of the value to it. 15The priests must not desecrate the sacred offerings the Israelites present to the Lord 16by allowing them to eat the sacred offerings and so bring upon them guilt requiring payment. I am the Lord, who makes them holy.’ ”
Unacceptable Sacrifices
17The Lord said to Moses, 18“Speak to Aaron and his sons and to all the Israelites and say to them: ‘If any of you—whether an Israelite or a foreigner residing in Israel—presents a gift for a burnt offering to the Lord, either to fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering, 19you must present a male without defect from the cattle, sheep or goats in order that it may be accepted on your behalf. 20Do not bring anything with a defect, because it will not be accepted on your behalf. 21When anyone brings from the herd or flock a fellowship offering to the Lord to fulfill a special vow or as a freewill offering, it must be without defect or blemish to be acceptable. 22Do not offer to the Lord the blind, the injured or the maimed, or anything with warts or festering or running sores. Do not place any of these on the altar as a food offering presented to the Lord. 23You may, however, present as a freewill offering an ox22:23 The Hebrew word can refer to either male or female. or a sheep that is deformed or stunted, but it will not be accepted in fulfillment of a vow. 24You must not offer to the Lord an animal whose testicles are bruised, crushed, torn or cut. You must not do this in your own land, 25and you must not accept such animals from the hand of a foreigner and offer them as the food of your God. They will not be accepted on your behalf, because they are deformed and have defects.’ ”
26The Lord said to Moses, 27“When a calf, a lamb or a goat is born, it is to remain with its mother for seven days. From the eighth day on, it will be acceptable as a food offering presented to the Lord. 28Do not slaughter a cow or a sheep and its young on the same day.
29“When you sacrifice a thank offering to the Lord, sacrifice it in such a way that it will be accepted on your behalf. 30It must be eaten that same day; leave none of it till morning. I am the Lord.
31“Keep my commands and follow them. I am the Lord. 32Do not profane my holy name, for I must be acknowledged as holy by the Israelites. I am the Lord, who made you holy 33and who brought you out of Egypt to be your God. I am the Lord.”
تقدس قربانیها و هدايا
1-3خداوند به موسی فرمود: «به هارون و پسرانش بگو كه حرمت قربانیها و هدايای مقدسی را كه قوم به من وقف می‌كنند، نگه دارند و نام مقدس مرا بی‌حرمت نسازند، زيرا من خداوند هستم. در نسلهای شما اگر كاهنی كه شرعاً نجس است به اين هدايای مقدس دست بزند بايد از مقام كاهنی بركنار شود.
4«كاهنی كه جذامی باشد يا از بدنش مايع ترشح شود، تا وقتی كه شرعاً طاهر نشده، حق ندارد از قربانیهای مقدس بخورد. هر كاهنی كه به جنازه‌ای دست بزند يا در اثر خروج منی نجس گردد، 5و يا حيوان يا شخصی را كه شرعاً نجس است لمس كند، 6آن كاهن تا عصر نجس خواهد بود، و تا هنگام غروب كه غسل می‌كند نبايد از قربانیهای مقدس بخورد. 7وقتی كه آفتاب غروب كرد، او دوباره طاهر می‌شود و می‌تواند از خوراک مقدس بخورد، چون معاش او همين است. 8-9كاهن نبايد گوشت حيوان مرده يا حيوانی را كه جانوران وحشی آن را دريده باشند بخورد، چون اين عمل او را نجس می‌كند. به كاهنان بگو كه با دقت از اين دستورات اطاعت كنند، مبادا مجرم شناخته شده، به سبب سرپيچی از اين قوانين بميرند. من كه خداوند هستم ايشان را تقديس كرده‌ام.
10«هيچكس غير از كاهنان نبايد از قربانیهای مقدس بخورد. میهمان يا نوكر كاهن كه از او مزد می‌گيرد نيز نبايد از اين خوراک بخورد. 11ولی اگر كاهن با پول خود غلامی بخرد، آن غلام می‌تواند از قربانیهای مقدس بخورد. فرزندان غلام يا كنيزی نيز كه در خانهٔ او به دنیا بيايند می‌توانند از آن بخورند. 12اگر دختر يكی از كاهنان با شخصی كه كاهن نيست ازدواج كند، نبايد از هدايای مقدس بخورد؛ 13ولی اگر بيوه شده يا طلاق گرفته باشد و فرزندی هم نداشته باشد كه از او نگهداری كند و به خانهٔ پدرش بازگشته باشد، می‌تواند مانند سابق از خوراک پدرش بخورد. پس كسی كه از خانوادهٔ كاهنان نيست، حق ندارد از اين خوراک بخورد.
14«اگر كسی ندانسته از قربانیهای مقدس بخورد، بايد همان مقدار را به اضافه يک پنجم به كاهن بازگرداند. 15-16كاهنان نبايد اجازه دهند اشخاص غير مجاز قربانیهای مقدس را بخورند و به اين وسيله مجرم شوند. اين كار بی‌حرمتی به هدايای مقدسی است كه بنی‌اسرائيل به من تقديم می‌كنند. من خداوند هستم و اين هدايا را تقديس كرده‌ام.»
17-18خداوند به موسی فرمود كه اين دستورات را به هارون و پسرانش و تمامی قوم اسرائيل بدهد: اگر يک نفر اسرائيلی يا غريبی كه در ميان شما ساكن است، به خداوند هديه‌ای برای قربانی سوختنی تقديم كند، خواه نذری باشد خواه داوطلبانه، 19فقط به شرطی مورد قبول خداوند خواهد بود كه آن حيوان، گاو يا گوسفند يا بز، نر و بی‌عيب باشد. 20حيوانی كه نقصی داشته باشد نبايد تقديم شود، چون مورد قبول خداوند نمی‌باشد. 21وقتی كسی از رمه يا گلهٔ خود حيوانی را به عنوان قربانی سلامتی به خداوند تقديم می‌كند، خواه نذری باشد خواه داوطلبانه، آن حيوان بايد سالم و بی‌عيب باشد و گرنه مورد قبول خداوند واقع نمی‌شود. 22حيوان كور، شل يا مجروح و يا حيوانی كه بدنش پر از زخم است و يا مبتلا به گری يا آبله می‌باشد، نبايد به خداوند هديه شود. اين نوع هديه را بر آتش قربانگاه به خداوند تقديم نكنيد. 23اگر گاو يا گوسفندی كه تقديم خداوند می‌شود عضو زائد يا ناقصی داشته باشد، آن را به عنوان قربانی داوطلبانه می‌توان ذبح كرد ولی نه به عنوان نذر. 24حيوانی كه بيضه‌اش نقص داشته باشد يعنی كوفته يا بريده باشد هرگز نبايد در سرزمين خود برای خداوند قربانی كنيد. 25اين محدوديت، هم شامل قربانیهای غريبانی است كه در ميان شما ساكنند و هم قربانیهای خود شما، چون هيچ حيوان معيوبی برای قربانی پذيرفته نمی‌شود.
26-27خداوند به موسی فرمود: «وقتی گاو يا گوسفند يا بزی زاييده شود بايد تا هفت روز پيش مادرش بماند ولی از روز هشتم به بعد می‌توان آن را بر آتش برای خداوند قربانی كرد. 28گاو يا گوسفند را با نوزادش در يک روز سر نبريد. 29-30وقتی كه قربانی شكرگزاری به من كه خداوند هستم تقديم می‌كنيد، بايد طبق مقررات عمل كنيد تا مورد قبول من واقع شويد. در همان روز تمام گوشت حيوان قربانی شده را بخوريد و چيزی از آن را برای روز بعد باقی نگذاريد.
31«شما بايد تمام اوامر مرا اطاعت كنيد، چون من خداوند هستم. 32-33نام مقدس مرا بی‌حرمت نكنيد. مرا مقدس بدانيد زيرا من كه خداوند هستم، شما را تقديس كردم و از مصر نجات دادم تا خدای شما باشم.»
