The Lord’s Devastation of the Earth
1See, the Lord is going to lay waste the earth
and devastate it;
he will ruin its face
and scatter its inhabitants—
2it will be the same
for priest as for people,
for the master as for his servant,
for the mistress as for her servant,
for seller as for buyer,
for borrower as for lender,
for debtor as for creditor.
3The earth will be completely laid waste
and totally plundered.
The Lord has spoken this word.
4The earth dries up and withers,
the world languishes and withers,
the heavens languish with the earth.
5The earth is defiled by its people;
they have disobeyed the laws,
violated the statutes
and broken the everlasting covenant.
6Therefore a curse consumes the earth;
its people must bear their guilt.
Therefore earth’s inhabitants are burned up,
and very few are left.
7The new wine dries up and the vine withers;
all the merrymakers groan.
8The joyful timbrels are stilled,
the noise of the revelers has stopped,
the joyful harp is silent.
9No longer do they drink wine with a song;
the beer is bitter to its drinkers.
10The ruined city lies desolate;
the entrance to every house is barred.
11In the streets they cry out for wine;
all joy turns to gloom,
all joyful sounds are banished from the earth.
12The city is left in ruins,
its gate is battered to pieces.
13So will it be on the earth
and among the nations,
as when an olive tree is beaten,
or as when gleanings are left after the grape harvest.
14They raise their voices, they shout for joy;
from the west they acclaim the Lord’s majesty.
15Therefore in the east give glory to the Lord;
exalt the name of the Lord, the God of Israel,
in the islands of the sea.
16From the ends of the earth we hear singing:
“Glory to the Righteous One.”
But I said, “I waste away, I waste away!
Woe to me!
The treacherous betray!
With treachery the treacherous betray!”
17Terror and pit and snare await you,
people of the earth.
18Whoever flees at the sound of terror
will fall into a pit;
whoever climbs out of the pit
will be caught in a snare.
The floodgates of the heavens are opened,
the foundations of the earth shake.
19The earth is broken up,
the earth is split asunder,
the earth is violently shaken.
20The earth reels like a drunkard,
it sways like a hut in the wind;
so heavy upon it is the guilt of its rebellion
that it falls—never to rise again.
21In that day the Lord will punish
the powers in the heavens above
and the kings on the earth below.
22They will be herded together
like prisoners bound in a dungeon;
they will be shut up in prison
and be punished24:22 Or released after many days.
23The moon will be dismayed,
the sun ashamed;
for the Lord Almighty will reign
on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem,
and before its elders—with great glory.
Silotan sa Ginoo ang Kalibotan
1Pamati! Laglagon sa Ginoo ang kalibotan24:1 ang kalibotan: o, ang yuta sa Canaan ug ang mga lugar sa palibot niini. hangtod nga dili na kini mapuslan, ug patibulaagon niya ang mga lumulupyo niini. 2Usa lang ang dangatan sa tanan—pari o lumulupyo, agalon o sulugoon, tigbaligya o tigpalit, tigpautang o tigpangutang. 3Malaglag gayod sa hingpit ang kalibotan ug wala na gayoy mahibilin niini. Mahitabo gayod kini, kay ang Ginoo mismo ang nagaingon niini. 4Momala ug mogahi ang yuta. Maluya ang mga tawo sa tibuok kalibotan, apil ang dungganon nga mga tawo. 5Gihugaw-hugawan ang kalibotan sa mga lumulupyo niini, tungod kay wala nila tumana ang mga kasugoan ug mga tulumanon sa Dios. Gilapas nila ang walay kataposan nga kasabotan sa Dios kanila. 6Busa panghimaraoton sa Dios ang kalibotan, ug manubag ang mga lumulupyo niini tungod sa ilang mga sala. Sunogon sila, ug gamay lang ang mahibilin kanila. 7Mangalaya ang mga ubas, ug mahurot ang bino. Magsubo ang naghudyaka, 8ug dili na madunggan ang masadya nga tukar sa mga tamborin ug mga harpa, ug ang paghugyaw sa mga tawo nga nagsaulog. 9Wala nay panag-awit sa ilang pag-inom, ug ang ilimnon mahimong mapait. 10Magun-ob ang siyudad ug dili na mapuslan. Sirad-an ang pultahan sa matag balay aron walay makasulod. 11Maninggit ang mga tawo diha sa kadalanan, nga nagpangayo ug bino. Ang ilang kalipay mapulihan sa kasubo. Ang anaa sa kasadpan magmantala sa pagkagamhanan sa Ginoo. 15Busa ang mga tawo sa sidlakan ug sa mga isla angay nga modayeg sa Ginoo, ang Dios sa Israel. 16Gikan sa kinatumyan sa kalibotan madungog nato ang pag-awit ug “Daygon ang Matarong nga Dios!”
Apan alaot ako! Naluya na ako! Kay padayon gihapon ang pagluib sa mga maluibon. 17Kamong mga katawhan sa kalibotan, naghulat kaninyo ang kalisang, bung-aw, ug lit-ag. 18Ang mokalagiw tungod sa kalisang mahulog sa bangag, ug ang mogawas gikan sa bangag malit-agan.
Magbunok ang ulan, ug matay-og ang pundasyon sa kalibotan. 19Mangliki ang yuta, ug matunga kini. 20Magsusapinday kini sama sa hubog. Mag-uyog-uyog kini sama sa payag nga gihuyop sa hangin. Mabug-atan kini tungod sa sala, ug mapukan kini ug dili na makabangon pag-usab.
21Nianang panahona, silotan sa Ginoo ang gamhanang mga langitnong binuhat, ug ang mga hari sa kalibotan. 22Tigomon silang tanan diha sa bangag sama sa mga priso. Prisohon sila, ug silotan sa kaulahian. 23Modulom ang adlaw ug bulan kay maghari ang Ginoo nga Makagagahom sa Bukid sa Zion, sa Jerusalem. Ug didto mapadayag ang iyang gahom atubangan sa mga pangulo sa katawhan.
