Jesus Greater Than Moses
1Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest. 2He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God’s house. 3Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself. 4For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything. 5“Moses was faithful as a servant in all God’s house,”3:5 Num. 12:7 bearing witness to what would be spoken by God in the future. 6But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory.
Warning Against Unbelief
7So, as the Holy Spirit says:
“Today, if you hear his voice,
8do not harden your hearts
as you did in the rebellion,
during the time of testing in the wilderness,
9where your ancestors tested and tried me,
though for forty years they saw what I did.
10That is why I was angry with that generation;
I said, ‘Their hearts are always going astray,
and they have not known my ways.’
11So I declared on oath in my anger,
‘They shall never enter my rest.’ ”3:11 Psalm 95:7-11
12See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 13But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. 14We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end. 15As has just been said:
“Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts
as you did in the rebellion.”3:15 Psalm 95:7,8
16Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt? 17And with whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies perished in the wilderness? 18And to whom did God swear that they would never enter his rest if not to those who disobeyed? 19So we see that they were not able to enter, because of their unbelief.

キリストの声を聞きなさい
1そういうわけですから、神によって天国の市民として選び出された、愛する皆さん。お願いです。どうか、私たちが告白する信仰の使徒であり、大祭司であるイエスに目をとめてください。 2「神の家」で忠実に奉仕したモーセと同じように、イエスも、大祭司としてご自分を任命された神に忠実な方です。 3しかしイエスは、モーセよりはるかにまさった栄光をお受けになりました。豪華な家よりも、その家を建てる人のほうが賞賛されるのです。 4家を建てる人はたくさんいますが、世界のすべてのものを造られたのは神です。 5確かにモーセは、神の家のために賞賛に値する仕事をしましたが、モーセの果たした役割は後に起こることを指し示すことでした。 6しかし、キリストは神の忠実な御子として、神の家のいっさいを治められるのです。もし、最後まで揺るがない確信を持ち続け、喜びと主への信頼を失わなければ、私たちも神の家となるのです。そして、神がそこに住んでくださるのです。
7-8ですから、聖霊はこう警告します。キリストの声に注意深く耳を傾けなさい。今日その声を聞いたら、昔のイスラエル人のように心を閉ざしてはいけません。彼らは荒野で試練を与えられた時、神の愛にそむき、心を鋼鉄のように固くして、文句を言い続けたのです。 9彼らは何度も反抗しましたが、四十年の間、神は忍耐され、彼らの目の前で驚くべき奇跡を行い続けてくださいました。 10しかし、とうとう神がこう宣言される時が来たのです。「わたしの怒りは極に達した。彼らはわたしに心を向けたことがなく、いつもほかを見ていた。そんな彼らに、わたしの用意した道が見いだせるはずがない。」 11神は怒りをもって、決して彼らを安息（神による休息）の地に導かないと誓われました（詩篇95・7-11）。
神に心を閉ざさないために
12皆さん。心が悪に染まって信仰をなくし、生ける神から離れることがないように、自分の心を見張りなさい。 13まだ時間があるうちに、日々、互いにこのことを確かめ合いなさい。そうすれば、罪に惑わされて神に心を閉ざす人は一人も出ないでしょう。 14もし私たちが、初めてキリストを信じた時と同じ気持ちで神に信頼し、最後まで忠実であれば、キリストにある祝福を受けることができるのです。 15ですから、今この時がかんじんなのです。次の警告を、片時も忘れてはなりません。「今日、語られる神の声を聞いたなら、神の怒りを招いた時のように、心をかたくなにしてはいけない。」（詩篇） 16神の声を聞きながら反抗した人たちとは、いったいだれでしょう。指導者モーセに率いられてエジプトを出たイスラエル人すべてです。 17四十年もの間、神の怒りを買ったのは、いったいだれでしたか。罪のために荒野で死に果てた、あのイスラエル人ではありませんか。 18神が誓って約束の地に入らせないと断言されたのは、だれに対してでしたか。従うことを拒んだ、あの人たち全員です。 19彼らが約束の地に入れなかったのは、神を信頼しなかったからです。
