Zelophehad’s Daughters
1The daughters of Zelophehad belonged to the family groups of Manasseh. Zelophehad was the son of Hepher. Hepher was the son of Gilead. Gilead was the son of Makir. Makir was the son of Manasseh. And Manasseh was the son of Joseph. The names of Zelophehad’s daughters were Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milkah and Tirzah. They approached 2the entrance to the tent of meeting. There they stood in front of Moses and Eleazar the priest. The leaders and the whole community were there too. Zelophehad’s daughters said, 3“Our father died in the Sinai Desert. But he wasn’t one of the men who followed Korah. He wasn’t one of those who joined together against the Lord. Our father died because of his own sin. He didn’t leave any sons. 4Why should our father’s name disappear from his family just because he didn’t have a son? Give us property among our father’s relatives.”
5So Moses brought their case to the Lord. 6The Lord said to him, 7“What Zelophehad’s daughters are saying is right. You must certainly give them property. Give them a share among their father’s relatives. Give their father’s property to them.
8“Say to the Israelites, ‘Suppose a man dies who doesn’t have a son. Then give his property to his daughter. 9Suppose the man doesn’t have a daughter. Then give his property to his brothers. 10Suppose the man doesn’t have any brothers. Then give his property to his father’s brothers. 11Suppose his father doesn’t have any brothers. Then give his property to the nearest male relative in his family group. It will belong to him. That is what the law will require of the Israelites. It is just as the Lord commanded me.’ ”
Joshua Becomes Israel’s New Leader
12Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go up this mountain in the Abarim Range. See the land I have given the Israelites. 13After you have seen it, you too will join the members of your family who have already died. You will die, just as your brother Aaron did. 14The community refused to obey me at the waters of Meribah Kadesh in the Desert of Zin. At that time, you and Aaron did not obey my command. You did not honor me in front of them as the holy God.”
15Moses spoke to the Lord. He said, 16“Lord, you are the God who gives life and breath to all living things. Please put someone in charge of this community. 17Have that person lead them and take care of them. Then your people won’t be like sheep without a shepherd.”
18So the Lord said to Moses, “Joshua, the son of Nun, has the ability to be a wise leader. Get him and place your hand on him. 19Have him stand in front of Eleazar the priest and the whole community. Put him in charge while everyone is watching. 20Give him some of your authority. Then the whole community of Israel will obey him. 21Joshua will stand in front of Eleazar the priest. Eleazar will help him make decisions. Eleazar will get help from me by using the Urim. Joshua and the whole community of Israel must not make any move at all unless I command them to.”
22Moses did just as the Lord commanded him. He got Joshua and had him stand in front of Eleazar the priest and the whole community. 23Then Moses placed his hands on Joshua. And he put him in charge of the people. He did just as the Lord had directed through Moses.
Салпадове ћерке
1Тада су приступиле ћерке Салпада, сина Еферовог, сина Галадовог, сина Махировог, сина Манасијиног, сина Јосифовог. Он је био из Манасијине породице. Ћерке су му се звале: Мала, Нуја, Егла, Мелха и Терса. 2Стале су пред Мојсија и свештеника Елеазара, пред кнезове и сву заједницу, код улаза у Шатор од састанка, и рекле: 3„Наш отац је умро у пустињи. Он није био међу оним присталицама, Корејевим присталицама, што су се побуниле против Господа, него је умро због свог греха. Није имао синова. 4Зашто да име нашег оца нестане из његове породице зато што није имао ни једног сина? Дај нам посед међу браћом нашег оца.“
5Мојсије донесе њихов случај пред Господа. 6Господ рече Мојсију: 7„Салпадове ћерке су у праву. Дај им посед у наследство међу браћом њиховог оца; преведи на њих наследство њиховог оца.
8А Израиљцима реци: ’Ако човек умре а нема ниједног сина, преведите наследство на његову ћерку. 9Ако нема ни ћерку, његово наследство дајте његовој браћи. 10Ако нема ни браћу, дајте његово наследство браћи његовог оца. 11Ако његов отац нема браће, његово наследство дајте у посед његовом најближем рођаку из родбине. Нека то Израиљцима буде правна уредба као што је Господ заповедио Мојсију.’“
Исус Навин постављен за Мојсијевог наследника
12Господ рече Мојсију: „Попни се на ову гору Аварим и погледај земљу коју сам дао Израиљцима. 13Кад је погледаш, придружићеш се своме народу, као што му се придружио твој брат Арон, 14јер сте се побунили против моје речи у пустињи Цин када се заједница свађала, уместо да код вода објавите моју светост пред њиховим очима.“ (То су меривске воде код Кадиса у пустињи Цин.)
15Мојсије рече Господу: 16„Нека Господ, Бог духова свих створења, постави једног човека над заједницом, 17који ће их предводити у свему што предузимају, који ће их изводити и доводити. Тако Господња заједница неће бити као стадо без пастира.“
18Господ рече Мојсију: „Узми Исуса, сина Навиновог, човека у коме је мој Дух, и положи своју руку на њега. 19Постави га пред свештеника Елеазара и пред сву заједницу, и уведи га у службу у њиховој присутности. 20Затим му предај део своје власти, да му се покорава сва израиљска заједница. 21Онда га постави пред свештеника Елеазара, а он ће за њега тражити савет од Господа путем Урима. На његову заповест нека он и сва израиљска заједница полазе и на његову заповест нека долазе.“
22Мојсије учини како му је Господ заповедио. Узео је Исуса и поставио га пред свештеника Елеазара и пред сву заједницу. 23Затим је положио своју руку на њега у увео га у службу, као што је Господ рекао преко Мојсија.
