The Good Shepherd and His Sheep
1“What I’m about to tell you Pharisees is true. What if someone does not enter the sheep pen through the gate but climbs in another way? That person is a thief and a robber. 2The one who enters through the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. 3The gatekeeper opens the gate for him. The sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4When he has brought out all his own sheep, he goes on ahead of them. His sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5But they will never follow a stranger. In fact, they will run away from him. They don’t recognize a stranger’s voice.” 6Jesus told this story. But the Pharisees didn’t understand what he was telling them.
7So Jesus said again, “What I’m about to tell you is true. I am like a gate for the sheep. 8All who have come before me are thieves and robbers. But the sheep have not listened to them. 9I’m like a gate. Anyone who enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out. And they will find plenty of food. 10A thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come so they may have life. I want them to have it in the fullest possible way.
11“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives his life for the sheep. 12The hired man is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when the hired man sees the wolf coming, he leaves the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. 13The man runs away because he is a hired man. He does not care about the sheep.
14“I am the good shepherd. I know my sheep, and my sheep know me. 15They know me just as the Father knows me and I know the Father. And I give my life for the sheep. 16I have other sheep that do not belong to this sheep pen. I must bring them in too. They also will listen to my voice. Then there will be one flock and one shepherd. 17The reason my Father loves me is that I give up my life. But I will take it back again. 18No one takes it from me. I give it up myself. I have the authority to give it up. And I have the authority to take it back again. I received this command from my Father.”
19The Jews who heard these words could not agree with one another. 20Many of them said, “He is controlled by a demon. He has gone crazy! Why should we listen to him?”
21But others said, “A person controlled by a demon does not say things like this. Can a demon open the eyes of someone who is blind?”
Another Challenge to Jesus’ Claims
22Then came the Feast of Hanukkah at Jerusalem. It was winter. 23Jesus was in the temple courtyard walking in Solomon’s Porch. 24The Jews who were gathered there around Jesus spoke to him. They said, “How long will you keep us waiting? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly.”
25Jesus answered, “I did tell you. But you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father’s name are a witness for me. 26But you do not believe, because you are not my sheep. 27My sheep listen to my voice. I know them, and they follow me. 28I give them eternal life, and they will never die. No one will steal them out of my hand. 29My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than anyone. No one can steal them out of my Father’s hand. 30I and the Father are one.”
31Again the Jews who had challenged him picked up stones to kill him. 32But Jesus said to them, “I have shown you many good works from the Father. Which good work are you throwing stones at me for?”
33“We are not throwing stones at you for any good work,” they replied. “We are stoning you for saying a very evil thing. You are only a man. But you claim to be God.”
34Jesus answered them, “Didn’t God say in your Law, ‘I have said you are “gods” ’? (Psalm 82:6) 35We know that Scripture is always true. God spoke to some people and called them ‘gods.’ 36If that is true, what about the one the Father set apart as his very own? What about this one the Father sent into the world? Why do you charge me with saying a very evil thing? Is it because I said, ‘I am God’s Son’? 37Don’t believe me unless I do the works of my Father. 38But what if I do them? Even if you don’t believe me, believe these works. Then you will know and understand that the Father is in me and I am in the Father.” 39Again they tried to arrest him. But he escaped from them.
40Then Jesus went back across the Jordan River. He went to the place where John had been baptizing in the early days. There he stayed. 41Many people came to him. They said, “John never performed a sign. But everything he said about this man was true.” 42And in that place many believed in Jesus.
चरवाहा (गड़रिया) अऊ ओकर झुंड
1“मेंह तुमन ला सच कहत हंव कि जऊन मनखे ह दुवारी म ले होके भेड़ के कोठा म नइं आवय, पर कोनो आने कोति ले चघके आथे, ओह चोर अऊ डाकू अय। 2जऊन मनखे ह दुवारी म ले होके भीतर जाथे, ओह अपन भेड़मन के चरवाहा अय। 3ओकर बर रखवार ह दुवारी ला खोल देथे अऊ भेड़मन ओकर अवाज ला सुनथें; अऊ ओह अपन भेड़मन ला नांव लेके बलाथे अऊ ओमन ला बाहिर ले जाथे। 4जब ओह अपन जम्मो भेड़मन ला बाहिर निकार लेथे, तब ओह ओमन के आघू-आघू जाथे अऊ ओकर भेड़मन ओकर पाछू-पाछू चलथें, काबरकि ओमन ओकर अवाज ला चिनथें। 5ओमन कोनो अनजान मनखे के पाछू नइं जावंय, पर ओमन ओकर ले दूरिहा भाग जाथें, काबरकि ओमन अनजान मनखे के अवाज ला नइं चिनहें।” 6यीसू ह ओमन ला ए पटंतर कहिस, पर ओमन नइं समझिन कि ओह का कहत रिहिस।
7एकरसेति यीसू ह ओमन ला फेर कहिस, “मेंह तुमन ला सच कहत हंव कि भेड़मन बर मेंह दुवारी अंव। 8ओ जम्मो जऊन मन मोर पहिली आईन, ओमन चोर अऊ डाकू रिहिन, अऊ भेड़मन ओमन के नइं सुनिन। 9दुवारी मेंह अंव, जऊन ह मोर ले होके भीतर जाही, ओह उद्धार पाही। अऊ ओह भीतर-बाहिर आय-जाय करही अऊ चारा पाही। 10चोर ह सिरिप चोरी करे बर, हतिया करे बर अऊ नास करे बर आथे, पर मेंह एकरसेति आय हवंव, ताकि ओमन जिनगी पावंय अऊ भरपूर जिनगी पावंय।
11बने चरवाहा मेंह अंव। बने चरवाहा ह भेड़मन बर अपन परान देथे। 12बनिहार ह न तो चरवाहा अय अऊ न तो भेड़मन के मालिक। एकरसेति जब ओह भेड़िया ला आवत देखथे, त ओह भेड़मन ला छोंड़के भाग जाथे। तब भेड़िया ह भेड़मन ऊपर झपटथे अऊ ओमन ला तितिर-बितिर कर देथे। 13ओ मनखे ह भाग जाथे काबरकि ओह एक बनिहार ए अऊ ओला भेड़मन के कोनो फिकर नइं रहय।
14बने चरवाहा मेंह अंव; मेंह अपन भेड़मन ला जानथंव, अऊ मोर भेड़मन मोला जानथें – 15जइसने ददा ह मोला जानथे अऊ मेंह ददा ला जानथंव – अऊ मेंह भेड़मन बर अपन परान देथंव। 16मोर अऊ घलो भेड़ हवंय, जऊन मन ए भेड़ के कोठा म नइं एं। मोला ओमन ला घलो लाना जरूरी ए। ओमन घलो मोर अवाज ला सुनहीं; तब एके ठन झुंड अऊ एके झन चरवाहा होही। 17मोर ददा ह मोर ले एकरसेति मया करथे, काबरकि मेंह अपन परान ला देथंव कि मेंह ओला फेर लेय लेवंव। 18कोनो मोर परान नइं ले सकय; पर मेंह अपन खुद के ईछा ले एला देथंव। मोर करा ए अधिकार हवय कि मेंह अपन परान ला दे दंव अऊ ओला फेर लेय लेवंव। ए हुकूम मोला मोर ददा ले मिले हवय।”
19यीसू के ए गोठ के खातिर, यहूदीमन म फेर फूट पर गीस। 20ओमन ले कतको झन कहिन, “ओम परेत आतमा हवय अऊ ओह बइहा ए। ओकर गोठ ला काबर सुनबो?”
21पर आने मन कहिन, “एक परेत आतमा के धरे मनखे ह अइसने नइं गोठियावय। का एक परेत आतमा ह अंधरा के आंखीमन ला बने कर सकथे?”
यहूदीमन के अबिसवास
22जड़काला के समय रहय, अऊ ओ समय यरूसलेम सहर म अरपन के तिहार मनाय जावत रहय। 23यीसू ह मंदिर के इलाका म रहय अऊ ओह सुलेमान के परछी म टहलत रहय। 24यहूदीमन ओकर चारों खूंट जुरके ओला कहिन, “तेंह कब तक हमन ला दुबिधा म रखबे? यदि तेंह मसीह अस, त हमन ला साफ-साफ बता दे।”
25यीसू ह जबाब देके कहिस, “मेंह तुमन ला बता डारे हवंव, पर तुमन बिसवास नइं करव। जऊन काममन ला मेंह अपन ददा के नांव म करथंव, ओही काममन मोर गवाह हवंय, 26पर तुमन बिसवास नइं करव, काबरकि तुमन मोर भेड़ नो हव। 27मोर भेड़मन मोर अवाज ला सुनथें; मेंह ओमन ला जानथंव, अऊ ओमन मोर पाछू-पाछू चलथें। 28मेंह ओमन ला परमेसर के संग सदाकाल के जिनगी देथंव, अऊ ओमन कभू नास नइं होहीं; अऊ ओमन ला कोनो मोर हांथ ले छीन के नइं ले जा सकय। 29मोर ददा जऊन ह ओमन ला मोला दे हवय, ओह सबले बड़े अय, अऊ कोनो ओमन ला मोर ददा के हांथ ले छीन नइं सकय। 30मेंह अऊ मोर ददा एकेच अन।”
31यहूदीमन यीसू ला मारे बर फेर पथरा उठाईन। 32पर यीसू ह ओमन ला कहिस, “मेंह तुमन ला ददा कोति ले बहुंते बने काम देखाय हवंव। एम के कोन काम के सेति तुमन मोर ऊपर पथरा फेंकथव?”
33यहूदीमन ओला ए जबाब दीन, “ए बने काम बर हमन तोला पथरा नइं मारत हवन, पर परमेसर के निन्दा करे के कारन अइसने करथन, काबरकि तेंह एक मनखे होके अपन-आप ला परमेसर बनावत हस।”
34यीसू ह जबाब दीस, “का तुम्हर कानून म ए नइं लिखे हवय, जिहां परमेसर ह कहिस, ‘तुमन ईसवर अव’10:34 भजन-संहिता 82:6? 35ओह ओमन ला ईसवर कहिस, जेमन करा परमेसर के बचन आईस अऊ परमेसर के बचन गलत नइं हो सकय। 36ओकर बारे म तुमन का कहिथव जऊन ला ददा ह अपन खुद के रूप म अलग करिस अऊ ओला संसार म पठोईस? तुमन ओकर ले कहिथव कि तेंह परमेसर के निन्दा करथस, काबरकि मेंह ए कहेंव कि मेंह परमेसर के बेटा अंव। 37यदि मेंह अपन ददा के काममन ला नइं करत हंव, त मोर ऊपर बिसवास झन करव। 38पर यदि मेंह ओ काममन ला करथंव, त चाहे तुमन मोर ऊपर बिसवास झन करव, पर मोर काम ऊपर तो बिसवास करव, ताकि तुमन जान सकव अऊ समझ सकव कि ददा ह मोर म हवय अऊ मेंह ददा म हवंव।” 39तब ओमन फेर यीसू ला पकड़े के कोसिस करिन, पर ओह ओमन के हांथ ले बचके निकर गीस।
40तब यीसू ह यरदन नदी के ओ पार वापिस ओ जगह म गीस, जिहां यूहन्ना ह पहिली बतिसमा देवत रिहिस। अऊ ओह उहां रूक गीस। 41बहुंते मनखेमन ओकर करा आईन अऊ ओमन कहंय, “हालाकि यूहन्ना ह कोनो चमतकार के काम नइं देखाईस, पर जऊन बात यूहन्ना ह ए मनखे के बारे म कहिस, ओ जम्मो बात सच रिहिस।” 42अऊ उहां बहुंते मनखेमन यीसू ऊपर बिसवास करिन।
