God Will Save His People and Punish Their Enemies
1Who is this man coming from the city of Bozrah in Edom?
His clothes are stained bright red.
Who is he? He is dressed up in all his glory.
He is marching toward us with great strength.
The Lord answers, “It is I.
I have won the battle.
I am mighty.
I have saved my people.”
2Why are your clothes red?
They look as if you have been stomping
on grapes in a winepress.
3The Lord answers, “I have been stomping on the nations
as if they were grapes.
No one was there to help me.
I walked all over the nations because I was angry.
That is why I stomped on them.
Their blood splashed all over my clothes.
So my clothes were stained bright red.
4I decided it was time to pay back Israel’s enemies.
The year for me to set my people free had come.
5I looked around, but no one was there to help me.
I was shocked that no one gave me any help.
So I used my own power to save my people.
I had the strength to do it because I was angry.
6I walked all over the nations because I was angry with them.
I made them drink from the cup of my great anger.
I poured out their blood on the ground.”
Isaiah Praises the Lord and Prays to Him
7I will talk about the kind things the Lord has done.
I’ll praise him for everything he’s done for us.
He has done many good things
for the nation of Israel.
That’s because he loves us and is very kind to us.
8In the past he said, “They are my people.
They are children who will be faithful to me.”
So he saved them.
9When they suffered, he suffered with them.
He sent his angel to save them.
He set them free because he is loving and kind.
He lifted them up and carried them.
He did it again and again in days long ago.
10But they refused to obey him.
They made his Holy Spirit sad.
So he turned against them and became their enemy.
He himself fought against them.
11Then his people remembered what he did long ago.
They recalled the days of Moses and his people.
They asked, “Where is the God who brought
Israel through the Red Sea?
Moses led them as the shepherd of his flock.
Where is the God who put
his Holy Spirit among them?
12He used his glorious and powerful arm
to help Moses.
He parted the waters of the sea in front of them.
That mighty act made him famous forever.
13He led them through that deep sea.
Like a horse in open country,
they didn’t trip and fall.
14They were like cattle that are taken down to the plains.
They were given rest by the Spirit of the Lord.”
That’s how he guided his people.
So he made a glorious name for himself.
15Lord, look down from heaven.
Look down from your holy and glorious throne.
Where is your great love for us?
Where is your power?
Why don’t you show us
your tender love and concern?
16You are our Father.
Abraham might not accept us as his children.
Jacob might not recognize us as his family.
But you are our Father, Lord.
Your name is One Who Always Sets Us Free.
17Lord, why do you let us wander away from you?
Why do you let us become so stubborn
that we don’t respect you?
Come back and help us.
We are the tribes that belong to you.
18For a little while your holy people possessed the land.
But now our enemies have torn your temple down.
19We are like people you never ruled over.
We are like those who don’t belong to you.
Ziua răzbunării Domnului și a răscumpărării
1– Cine este Acesta, Care vine din Edom,
Care vine cu hainele roșii din Boțra?!
Cine este Acesta, înveșmântat atât de frumos,
pășind atât de plin de putere?!
– Eu sunt, Cel Ce vorbesc cu dreptate
și Care am putere să izbăvesc!
2– De ce‑Ți sunt hainele roșii
și veșmintele ca ale unuia care calcă în teasc?
3– Eu singur am călcat în teasc,
iar dintre popoare n‑a fost nimeni cu Mine.
Le‑am călcat în mânia Mea,
le‑am călcat în picioare în furia Mea.
Sângele lor Mi‑a stropit hainele,
astfel că pe toate Mi le‑am pătat.
4Căci ziua răzbunării era în inima Mea
și anul răscumpărării Mele sosise.
5M‑am uitat și nu era nimeni să Mă ajute;
am fost uimit căci nu era nimeni să Mă sprijine;
prin urmare, brațul Meu Mi‑a adus victorie
și mânia Mea M‑a sprijinit.
6Am călcat în picioare popoare în mânia Mea,
le‑am îmbătat în furia Mea
și le‑am vărsat sângele pe pământ.
Laudă și mărturisire
7Voi vesti îndurările Domnului
și isprăvile Domnului,
potrivit cu tot ceea ce a făcut Domnul pentru noi.
Voi vesti marea Lui bunătate
față de Casa lui Israel,
pe care i‑a arătat‑o potrivit milei Sale
și potrivit bogăției îndurării Lui.
8El a zis: „Cu siguranță ei sunt poporul Meu,
fiii care nu vor trăda“;
și astfel El a devenit Mântuitorul lor.
9Orice necaz de‑al lor l‑a considerat necazul Său,9 Lit.: În tot necazul lor, pentru El [a fost] necaz.
iar Îngerul Prezenței Sale i‑a izbăvit.
În dragostea și în mila Sa El i‑a răscumpărat;
i‑a ridicat și i‑a purtat în toate zilele din vechime.
10Dar ei s‑au răzvrătit
și L‑au întristat pe Duhul Său cel Sfânt.
De aceea El S‑a făcut dușmanul lor
și a luptat El Însuși împotriva lor.
11Atunci ei și‑au adus aminte11 Sau: Fie ca El să‑Și aducă aminte. de zilele străvechi,
când Moise Îi conducea poporul.
Unde este Acela Care i‑a scos din mare
împreună cu păstorul turmei Sale?
Unde este Acela Care a pus printre ei
Duhul Său cel Sfânt,
12Acela Care Și‑a pus să meargă brațul Său măreț
la dreapta lui Moise,
Acela Care a despărțit apele înaintea lor
pentru a‑Și face un renume veșnic,
13Acela Care i‑a condus prin adâncuri?
Asemenea unui cal ce aleargă prin pustie,
ei nu s‑au împiedicat
14și asemenea unor vite care coboară în vale,
așa i‑a condus Duhul Domnului la odihnă.
În felul acesta Ți‑ai călăuzit Tu poporul,
pentru a‑Ți face un Nume măreț.
15Privește din ceruri și vezi,
din Locuința Ta sfântă și măreață!
Unde‑Ți sunt râvna și puterea?
Fiorul Tău lăuntric și mila Ta
s‑au retras de la mine.
16Totuși, Tu ești Tatăl nostru,
chiar dacă Avraam nu ne cunoaște,
chiar dacă Israel nu ne recunoaște;
Tu, Doamne, ești Tatăl nostru,
din vechime Tu Te numești „Răscumpărătorul nostru“!
17De ce, Doamne, ne‑ai făcut să rătăcim de la căile Tale?
De ce ne‑ai împietrit inimile,
ca să nu mai avem teamă de Tine?
Întoarce‑Te, de dragul robilor Tăi,
de dragul semințiilor ce‑Ți sunt moștenire!
18Pentru puțină vreme, ei au stăpânit poporul sfințeniei Tale;
vrăjmașii noștri au călcat în picioare Sfântul Tău Lăcaș.
19Am fost multă vreme ca unii peste care Tu nu stăpâneai,
ca unii peste care nu era chemat Numele Tău.19 Sau: Suntem ai Tăi din vechime; / peste ei însă nu ai stăpânit, / iar ei nu au purtat Numele Tău.
