1Here is the vision about Judah and Jerusalem that Isaiah saw. It came to him when Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah were ruling. They were kings of Judah. Isaiah was the son of Amoz.
The Nation Refuses to Obey the Lord
2Listen to me, you heavens! Pay attention to me, earth!
The Lord has said,
“I raised children. I brought them up.
But they have refused to obey me.
3The ox knows its master.
The donkey knows where its owner feeds it.
But Israel does not know me.
My people do not understand me.”
4How terrible it will be for this sinful nation!
They are loaded down with guilt.
They are people who do nothing but evil.
They are children who are always sinning.
They have deserted the Lord.
They have turned against the Holy One of Israel.
They have turned their backs on him.
5Israel, why do you want to be beaten all the time?
Why do you always refuse to obey the Lord?
Your head is covered with wounds.
Your whole heart is weak.
6There isn’t a healthy spot on your body.
You are not healthy from the bottom of your feet to the top of your head.
You have nothing but wounds, cuts
and open sores.
They haven’t been cleaned up or bandaged
or treated with olive oil.
7Your country has been deserted.
Your cities have been burned down.
The food from your fields is being eaten up by outsiders.
They are doing it right in front of you.
Your land has been completely destroyed.
It looks as if strangers have taken it over.
8The city of Zion is left like a shed
where someone stands guard in a vineyard.
It is left like a hut in a cucumber field.
It’s like a city being attacked.
9The Lord who rules over all
has let some people live through that time of trouble.
If he hadn’t, we would have become like Sodom.
We would have been like Gomorrah.
10Rulers of Sodom,
hear the Lord’s message.
People of Gomorrah,
listen to the instruction of our God.
11“Do you think I need any more of your sacrifices?”
asks the Lord.
“I have more than enough of your burnt offerings.
I have more than enough of rams
and the fat of your fattest animals.
I do not find any pleasure
in the blood of your bulls, lambs and goats.
12Who asked you to bring all these animals
when you come to worship me?
Who asked you and your animals
to walk all over my courtyards?
13Stop bringing offerings that do not mean anything to me!
I hate your incense.
I can’t stand your worthless gatherings.
I can’t stand the way you celebrate your New Moon feasts,
Sabbath days and special services.
14Your New Moon feasts and your other appointed feasts
I hate with my whole being.
They have become a heavy load to me.
I am tired of carrying it.
15You might spread out your hands toward me when you pray.
But I do not look at you.
You might even offer many prayers.
But I am not listening to them.
Your hands are covered with the blood of the people you have murdered.
16So wash and make yourselves clean.
Get your evil actions out of my sight!
Stop doing what is wrong!
17Learn to do what is right!
Treat people fairly.
Help those who are treated badly.
Stand up in court for children whose fathers have died.
And do the same thing for widows.
18“Come. Let us settle this matter,”
says the Lord.
“Even though your sins are bright red,
they will be as white as snow.
Even though they are deep red,
they will be white like wool.
19But you have to be willing to change and obey me.
If you are, you will eat the good things that grow on the land.
20But if you are not willing to obey me,
you will be killed by swords.”
The Lord has spoken.
21See how the faithful city of Jerusalem
has become like a prostitute!
Once it was full of people who treated others fairly.
Those who did what was right used to live in it.
But now murderers live there!
22Jerusalem, your silver isn’t pure anymore.
Your best wine has been made weak with water.
23Your rulers refuse to obey the Lord.
They join forces with robbers.
All of them love to accept money from those who want special favors.
They are always looking for gifts from other people.
They don’t stand up in court for children whose fathers have died.
They don’t do it for widows either.
24The Lord is the Mighty One of Israel.
The Lord who rules over all announces,
“Israel, you have become my enemies.
I will act against you in my anger.
I will pay you back for what you have done.
25I will turn my power against you.
I will make you completely ‘clean.’
I will remove everything that is not pure.
26I will give you leaders like the ones you had long ago.
I will give you rulers like those you had at the beginning.
Then you will be called
the City That Does What Is Right.
You will also be called the Faithful City.”
27Zion will be saved when justice is done.
Those who are sorry for their sins will be saved
when what is right is done.
28But sinners and those who refuse to obey the Lord will be destroyed.
And those who desert the Lord will die.
29“Israel, you take delight in worshiping among the sacred oak trees.
You will be full of shame for doing that.
You have chosen to worship in the sacred gardens.
You will be dishonored for doing that.
30You will be like an oak tree whose leaves are dying.
You will be like a garden that doesn’t have any water.
31Your strongest men will become like dry pieces of wood.
Their worship of other gods will be the spark that lights the fire.
Everything will be burned up.
No one will be there to put the fire out.”

Ang Makasasala nga Nasyon
2Pamati, langit kag duta, kay nagsiling ang Ginoo, “Ginsagod ko kag ginpadako ang mga Israelinhon nga akon mga anak, pero nagbato sila sa akon. 3Bisan gani ang mga baka nakakilala sang ila agalon, ang mga asno nakatultol sang pasungan nga ginapakan-an sa ila sang ila agalon, pero ang Israel nga akon katawhan wala nakakilala sa akon.”
4Makasasala sila nga nasyon, katawhan nga puno sang kalautan, kaliwat sang mga manughimo sang malaot kag manughalit. Ginsikway nila kag ginyaguta ang Ginoo, ang Balaan nga Dios sang Israel, kag nagtalikod sila sa iya.
5Mga taga-Israel, ngaa nagapadayon kamo sa pagrebelde? Gusto pa bala ninyo nga silutan? Pareho kamo sa tawo nga ang iya ulo puro na lang pilas kag ang iya tagipusuon puno sang kasakit. 6Halin sa ulo hasta sa dapadapa wala gid sang bahin nga maayo, puro na lang pilas, lagob kag hubag. Wala ini nahugasan, ukon nabugkusan, ukon nabulong.
7Nangin mamingaw ang inyo nga nasyon; ang inyo mga banwa nagkalasunog. Samtang nagatulok kamo, ginapanguha sang taga-iban nga lugar ang mga bunga sang mga tanom sa inyo mga uma. Ginalaglag nila ang inyo duta hasta nga indi na ini mapuslan. 8Wala sing may nabilin kundi ang Zion.1:8 Zion: sa Hebreo, anak nga babayi sang Zion. Ang Zion amo man ang Jerusalem. Pareho siya sa palasilungan sa talamnan sang ubas ukon sang payag-payag sa talamnan sang pipino nga amo lang ang nagatindog. Pareho man siya sang siyudad nga ginakibon sang mga kaaway. 9Kon ang Ginoo nga Makagagahom wala sing may ginbilin sa aton nga buhi, pareho na kuntani kita sa Sodom kag Gomora.
10Kamo nga mga manugdumala kag mga katawhan sang Jerusalem, nga pareho sa mga taga- Sodom kag Gomora, pamatii ninyo ang pulong kag kasuguan sang Ginoo nga aton Dios. 11Nagasiling siya, “Baliwala sa akon ang madamo ninyo nga mga halad. Natak-an na ako sang inyo mga halad nga ginasunog—ang mga karnero kag ang tambok sang mga sapat nga inyo ginpatambok. Wala ako nalipay sa dugo sang mga turo nga baka, mga karnero, kag mga kanding. 12Sin-o bala ang nagsugo sa inyo nga dal-on ninyo ini tanan kon magsimba kamo sa akon? Sin-o bala ang nagsugo sa inyo nga maglapak sa akon templo? 13Mag-untat na kamo sa pagdala sang mga halad nga wala sing pulos. Ginakangil-aran ko ang inyo insenso. Indi ko na maagwanta ang inyo mga pagtilipon kon Piesta sang Pag-umpisa sang Bulan kag kon Adlaw nga Inugpahuway, kay bisan nagatipon kamo nagahimo kamo sang kalainan. 14Ginakaugtan ko ang inyo mga Piesta sang Pag-umpisa sang Bulan kag iban pa ninyo nga mga piesta. Nangin pabug-at ini sa akon; indi ko ini maagwanta.
15“Kon magpangamuyo kamo indi ako magsapak sa inyo. Indi ako mamati bisan makapila pa kamo magpangamuyo, tungod kay madamo kamo sang ginpamatay nga tawo. 16Magpakatinlo kamo! Mag-untat na kamo sa paghimo sang malain sa akon atubangan. 17Magtuon kamo sa paghimo sang maayo, kag paluntara ninyo ang hustisya. Sabdunga ninyo ang mga nagapamigos,1:17 Sabdunga ninyo ang mga nagapamigos: ukon, Buligi ninyo ang mga ginapigos. kag depensahi ninyo ang kinamatarong sang mga ilo kag mga balo nga babayi.”
18Nagasiling pa ang Ginoo, “Dali kamo, husayon naton ini. Bisan ano kahigko sang inyo mga sala, limpyuhan ko ina agod mangin matinlo kamo. 19Kon magtuman lang kamo sa akon, pakamaayuhon ko gid kamo.1:19 pakamaayuhon ko gid kamo: ukon, makakaon kamo sang pinakamaayo nga mga produkto sang duta. 20Pero kon magsupak kamo kag magrebelde, sigurado gid nga magkalamatay kamo. Matabo gid ini, kay ako, ang Ginoo, ang nagasiling sini.”
Ang Makasasala nga Siyudad
21Tan-awa bala ninyo ang siyudad sang Jerusalem. Sadto anay matutom, pero subong pareho na sa babayi nga nagabaligya sang iya lawas. Sang una matarong nga mga tawo ang nagaestar dira, pero subong mga manugpatay. 22Jerusalem, sang una bilidhon ka pareho sa pilak, pero subong wala na sing pulos. Sadto anay pareho ka sang puro nga bino, pero subong nasimbugan na sang tubig. 23Ang imo mga pangulo mga rebelde kag kaupod sang mga makawat. Gusto nila permi nga may lagay, kag nagapangayo sila sang mga regalo. Wala nila ginadepensahan ang kinamatarong sang mga ilo kag wala nila ginapamatian ang reklamo sang mga balo nga babayi.
24Gani nagasiling ang Ginoo, ang Makagagahom nga Ginoo sang Israel: “Magatimalos ako sa inyo nga mga taga-Jerusalem, nga akon mga kaaway, agod indi na ako matublag sa inyo ginahimo. 25Silutan ko kamo agod malimpyuhan kamo, pareho sa pilak nga ginapapuraw sa kalayo. 26Hatagan ko kamo liwat sang mga pangulo kag mga manuglaygay nga pareho sang una. Kag sa ulihi ang inyo siyudad pagatawgon nga siyudad sang mga matarong kag matutom nga mga tawo.”
27Paagi sa matarong nga paghukom sang Dios, luwason niya ang Jerusalem1:27 Jerusalem: sa Hebreo, Zion. kag ang mga pumuluyo sini nga nagahinulsol. 28Pero pagalaglagon niya ang mga malinapason kag mga makasasala, nga nagasikway sa Ginoo.
29Mahuy-an kamo nga mga taga-Jerusalem tungod sa inyo pagsimba sa mga kahoy nga terebinto kag sa mga pinili ninyo nga mga katamnan. 30Mangin pareho kamo sa kahoy nga terebinto nga nagakalaya, kag sa katamnan nga wala mabunyagi. 31Ang mga gamhanan sa inyo mangin pareho sa mamala nga kahoy nga madali lang masunog, kag ang ila malaot nga mga binuhatan mangin pareho sa igrab nga amo ang magasunog sa ila, kag wala sing may makapauntat sina nga kalayo.
