1You have been raised up with Christ. So think about things that are in heaven. That is where Christ is. He is sitting at God’s right hand. 2Think about things that are in heaven. Don’t think about things that are only on earth. 3You died. Now your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4Christ is your life. When he appears again, you also will appear with him in heaven’s glory.
5So put to death anything that comes from sinful desires. Get rid of sexual sins and impure acts. Don’t let your feelings get out of control. Remove from your life all evil desires. Stop always wanting more and more. You might as well be worshiping statues of gods. 6God’s anger is going to come because of these things. 7That’s the way you lived at one time in your life. 8But now here are the kinds of things you must also get rid of. You must get rid of anger, rage, hate and lies. Let no dirty words come out of your mouths. 9Don’t lie to one another. You have gotten rid of your old way of life and its habits. 10You have started living a new life. Your knowledge of how that life should have the Creator’s likeness is being made new. 11Here there is no Gentile or Jew. There is no difference between those who are circumcised and those who are not. There is no rude outsider, or even a Scythian. There is no slave or free person. But Christ is everything. And he is in everything.
12You are God’s chosen people. You are holy and dearly loved. So put on tender mercy and kindness as if they were your clothes. Don’t be proud. Be gentle and patient. 13Put up with one another. Forgive one another if you are holding something against someone. Forgive, just as the Lord forgave you. 14And over all these good things put on love. Love holds them all together perfectly as if they were one.
15Let the peace that Christ gives rule in your hearts. As parts of one body, you were appointed to live in peace. And be thankful. 16Let the message about Christ live among you like a rich treasure. Teach and correct one another wisely. Teach one another by singing psalms and hymns and songs from the Spirit. Sing to God with thanks in your hearts. 17Do everything you say or do in the name of the Lord Jesus. Always give thanks to God the Father through Christ.

18Wives, follow the lead of your husbands. That’s what the Lord wants you to do.
19Husbands, love your wives. Don’t be mean to them.
20Children, obey your parents in everything. That pleases the Lord.
21Fathers, don’t make your children bitter. If you do, they will lose hope.
22Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything. Don’t do it just to please them when they are watching you. Obey them with an honest heart. Do it out of respect for the Lord. 23Work at everything you do with all your heart. Work as if you were working for the Lord, not for human masters. 24Work because you know that you will finally receive as a reward what the Lord wants you to have. You are slaves of the Lord Christ. 25Anyone who does wrong will be paid back for what they do. God treats everyone the same.

1Ya que habéis resucitado con Cristo, buscad las cosas de arriba, donde está Cristo sentado a la derecha de Dios. 2Concentrad vuestra atención en las cosas de arriba, no en las de la tierra, 3pues vosotros habéis muerto y vuestra vida está escondida con Cristo en Dios. 4Cuando Cristo, que es vuestra vida,3:4 vuestra vida. Var. nuestra vida. se manifieste, entonces también vosotros seréis manifestados con él en gloria.
5Por tanto, haced morir todo lo que es propio de la naturaleza terrenal: inmoralidad sexual, impureza, bajas pasiones, malos deseos y avaricia, la cual es idolatría. 6Por estas cosas viene el castigo de Dios.3:6 de Dios. Var. de Dios sobre los que son desobedientes. 7Vosotros las practicasteis en otro tiempo, cuando vivíais en ellas. 8Pero ahora abandonad también todo esto: enojo, ira, malicia, calumnia y lenguaje obsceno. 9Dejad de mentiros unos a otros, ahora que os habéis quitado el ropaje de la vieja naturaleza con sus vicios, 10y os habéis puesto el de la nueva naturaleza, que se va renovando en conocimiento a imagen de su creador. 11En esta nueva naturaleza no hay griego ni judío, circunciso ni incircunciso, culto ni inculto,3:11 culto ni inculto. Lit. bárbaro, escita. esclavo ni libre, sino que Cristo es todo y está en todos.
12Por lo tanto, como escogidos de Dios, santos y amados, revestíos de afecto entrañable y de bondad, humildad, amabilidad y paciencia, 13de modo que os toleréis unos a otros y os perdonéis si alguno tiene queja contra otro. Así como el Señor os perdonó, perdonad también vosotros. 14Por encima de todo, vestíos de amor, que es el vínculo perfecto.
15Que gobierne en vuestros corazones la paz de Cristo, a la cual fuisteis llamados en un solo cuerpo. Y sed agradecidos. 16Que habite en vosotros la palabra de Cristo con toda su riqueza: instruíos y aconsejaos unos a otros con toda sabiduría; cantad salmos, himnos y canciones espirituales a Dios, con gratitud de corazón. 17Y todo lo que hagáis, de palabra o de obra, hacedlo en el nombre del Señor Jesús, dando gracias a Dios el Padre por medio de él.
Normas para la familia cristiana
18Esposas, someteos a vuestros esposos, como conviene en el Señor.
19Esposos, amad a vuestras esposas y no seáis duros con ellas.
20Hijos, obedeced a vuestros padres en todo, porque esto agrada al Señor.
21Padres, no exasperéis a vuestros hijos, no sea que se desanimen.
22Esclavos, obedeced en todo a vuestros amos terrenales, no solo cuando ellos os estén mirando, como si vosotros quisierais ganaros el favor humano, sino con integridad de corazón y por respeto al Señor. 23Hagáis lo que hagáis, trabajad de buena gana, como para el Señor y no como para nadie en este mundo, 24conscientes de que el Señor os recompensará con la herencia. Vosotros servís a Cristo el Señor. 25El que hace el mal pagará por su propia maldad, y en esto no hay favoritismos.
