아브라함과 그두라
1아브라함은 ‘그두라’ 라는 또 다른 여자와 결혼하였다.
2그녀는 시므란, 욕산, 므단, 미디안, 이스박, 수아를 낳았으며
3욕산은 스바와 드단을 낳았는데 드단의 자손들은 앗수르족, 르두시족, 르움미족이 되었다.
4그리고 미디안의 아들은 에바, 에벨, 하녹, 아비다, 엘다아였다. 이상은 모두 그두라의 자손들이었다.
5아브라함은 그의 모든 재산을 이삭에게 주었으며
6자기 서자들에게도 재물을 주어 그들이 이삭을 떠나 동쪽 지방에 가서 살게 하였다.
아브라함의 죽음
7-8아브라함이 늙고 나이 많아 175세에 숨 을 거두자
9그의 아들 이삭과 이스마엘이 그를 헷 사람 소할의 아들 에브론의 밭에 있는 마므레 앞 막벨라 굴에 장사하였다.
10그 땅은 아브라함이 헷 사람들에게서 산 밭인데 아브라함과 사라가 함께 거기에 묻혔다.
11아브라함이 죽은 후에 하나님이 그의 아들 이삭을 축복하셨으며 이삭은 브엘 – 라해 – 로이 근처에서 살았다.
이스마엘의 자손들
12사라의 여종 이집트인 하갈이 아브라함에게 낳은 아들 이스마엘의 자손은 이렇다:
13이스마엘의 장남은 느바욧이며 그 다음은 게달, 앗브엘, 밉삼,
14미스마, 두마, 맛사,
15하닷, 데마, 여둘, 나비스, 게드마였다.
16이 사람들은 12종족의 조상이 되었으며 이들의 이름은 그들의 마을과 부락 이름을 딴 것이었다.
17이스마엘은 137세에 죽었으며
18그의 자손들은 하윌라에서부터 술까지 앗시리아로 향하는 이집트 동쪽 지방에 흩어져 25:18 또는 ‘그모든형제의맞은편에거하였더라’아브라함의 다른 자손들에게 적대감을 가지고 살았다.
야곱과 에서
19아브라함의 아들 이삭에 대한 이야기는 이렇다:
20이삭은 40세에 25:20 히 ‘밧단아람’메소포타미아 출신의 아람 사람 브두엘의 딸이며 라반의 누이동생인 리브가와 결혼하였다.
21리브가가 아이를 낳지 못하여 이삭이 여호와께 기도하자 여호와께서 그 기도를 들어주셨다. 그래서 리브가가 임신하게 되었는데
22뱃속에서 아이들이 서로 싸우고 있었다. 리브가가 “어째서 나에게 이런 일이 있는가?” 하고 여호와께 물으러 가자
23여호와께서 그녀에게 이렇게 말씀하셨다. “두 국민이 네 뱃속에 있구나. 두 민족이 네 태중에서 나누어질 것이니 한 민족이 다른 민족보다 강할 것이며 형이 동생을 섬기리라.”
24해산하게 되었을 때 그녀의 태에는 쌍둥이가 있었다.
25먼저 나온 아이는 마치 털옷을 입은 것처럼 전신이 불그스름한 털로 덮여 있어서 그 이름을 25:25 ‘털이많다’ 는뜻.‘에서’ 라 하였고
26나중에 나온 그의 동생은 손으로 에서의 발꿈치를 꽉 잡았으므로 그 이름을 25:26 ‘발꿈치를잡는다’ 또는 ‘속인다’ 는뜻.‘야곱’ 이라고 하였다. 리브가가 그들을 낳았을 때 이삭은 60세였다.
27그 아이들이 자라 에서는 능숙한 사냥꾼이 되어 들을 좋아하였고 야곱은 조용한 사람이어서 집에 머물러 있기를 좋아하였다.
28이삭은 에서가 사냥해 온 고기를 좋아하였으므로 그를 사랑하였고 리브가는 야곱을 사랑하였다.
29하루는 야곱이 죽을 쑤고 있었다. 그런데 에서가 사냥을 하고 돌아와서
30야곱에게 “배가 고파 죽겠으니 그 붉은 죽을 좀 다오” 하였다 (그래서 에서에게는 붉다는 뜻을 지닌 ‘에돔’ 이라는 별명이 붙게 되었다).
31이때 야곱이 “먼저 형의 장자권을 나에게 파시오” 하자
32에서가 “내가 죽게 되었는데 이 장자권이 무슨 소용이 있겠느냐?” 하고 대답하였다.
33그러나 야곱은 “25:33 암시 됨.장자권을 다시 주장하지 않겠다고 나에게 맹세하시오” 하였다. 그래서 에서는 야곱에게 맹세하고 장자권을 그에게 팔았다.
34야곱이 에서에게 빵과 팥죽을 주자 에서는 먹고 마신 후에 일어나 갔다. 그는 장자권을 가볍게 생각했던 것이다.
1Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah. 2And she bare him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah. 3And Jokshan begat Sheba, and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim. 4And the sons of Midian; Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and Abidah, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Keturah.
5¶ And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac. 6But unto the sons of the concubines, which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward, unto the east country. 7And these are the days of the years of Abraham’s life which he lived, an hundred threescore and fifteen years. 8Then Abraham gave up the ghost, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years; and was gathered to his people. 9And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is before Mamre; 10The field which Abraham purchased of the sons of Heth: there was Abraham buried, and Sarah his wife.
11¶ And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well Lahai-roi.
12¶ Now these are the generations of Ishmael, Abraham’s son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah’s handmaid, bare unto Abraham: 13And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: the firstborn of Ishmael, Nebajoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam, 14And Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa, 15Hadar, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah:25.15 Hadar: or, Hadad 16These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, by their towns, and by their castles; twelve princes according to their nations. 17And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, an hundred and thirty and seven years: and he gave up the ghost and died; and was gathered unto his people. 18And they dwelt from Havilah unto Shur, that is before Egypt, as thou goest toward Assyria: and he died in the presence of all his brethren.25.18 died: Heb. fell
19¶ And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham’s son: Abraham begat Isaac: 20And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan-aram, the sister to Laban the Syrian. 21And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived. 22And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to enquire of the LORD. 23And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.
24¶ And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb. 25And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau. 26And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau’s heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them. 27And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents. 28And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.25.28 he…: Heb. venison was in his mouth
