1내 아들아, 내 말을 지키며 내 교훈을 잘 간직하여라.
2내 명령을 지켜라. 그러면 네가 살 것이다. 나의 가르침을 네 눈동자처럼 지키고
3이것을 항상 간직하고 네 마음에 새겨라.
4너는 지혜를 네 누이처럼 생각하고 가까운 친구처럼 여겨라.
5그러면 이것이 너를 지켜 음란한 여자들의 유혹에 빠지지 않게 할 것이다.
음란한 여자를 조심하라
6나는 우리 집 창문을 내다보면서
7어리석은 자들을 많이 보았다. 그 중에서도 특별히 지각 없는 한 젊은이를 본 적이 있다.
8그는 음란한 여자가 살고 있는 집 모퉁이 부근의 거리를 따라 그녀의 집 쪽으로 걸어가고 있었는데
9때는 이미 해가 져서 어두움이 찾아드는 저녁 무렵이었다.
10그러자 기생처럼 예쁘게 차려 입은 간교한 그 여자가 그를 맞으러 나왔다.
11그녀는 집에 붙어 있지 않고 제멋대로 돌아다니며
12어떤 때는 길거리에서, 어떤 때는 광장에서, 어떤 때는 길 이 모퉁이 저 모퉁이에 서서 남자를 기다리는, 창녀와 같은 여자였다.
13그 여자가 그를 붙잡고 입을 맞추며 부끄러운 줄도 모르고 이렇게 말하였다.
14“나는 오늘 화목제를 드려서 내가 서약한 것을 갚았다.
15그래서 내가 너를 찾으려고 나왔는데 여기서 만나게 되었구나.
16내 침대에는 이집트에서 수입해 온 아름다운 아마포가 깔려 있고
17몰약과 유향과 계피를 뿌려 놓았다.
18들어가자. 우리가 아침까지 마음껏 서로 사랑하며 즐기자.
19내 남편은 먼 여행을 떠나고 지금 집에 없다.
20그는 여비를 많이 가져갔으니 아마 보름이 되어야 집에 돌아올 것이다.”
21그녀가 그럴 듯한 말로 구슬려대자 결국 그 청년은 그녀의 유혹에 넘어가
22곧 그 여자를 따라갔으니 소가 도살장으로 가는 것 같고 사슴이 올가미 속으로 뛰어들어가는 것 같았다.
23결국 화살이 그의 심장을 꿰뚫고 말 것이다. 그는 세차게 그물을 향해 날아가면서도 자기 생명의 위험을 알지 못하는 새와 같은 자였다.
24내 아들들아, 내가 하는 말에 귀를 기울이고 주의 깊게 들어라.
25너희는 그런 여자에게 마음을 쏟지 말고 그 길에 미혹되지 말아라.
26많은 사람들이 그녀에게 희생되었고 그녀에게 죽은 자도 수없이 많다.
27너희가 그런 여자의 집을 찾아다니는 것은 7:27 원문에는 ‘그 집은 음부의 길이라 사망의 방으로 내려가느니라’지옥행 급행 열차를 타는 것이나 다름없다.
Warning Against the Adulterous Woman
1My son, keep my words
and store up my commands within you.
2Keep my commands and you will live;
guard my teachings as the apple of your eye.
3Bind them on your fingers;
write them on the tablet of your heart.
4Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,”
and to insight, “You are my relative.”
5They will keep you from the adulterous woman,
from the wayward woman with her seductive words.
6At the window of my house
I looked down through the lattice.
7I saw among the simple,
I noticed among the young men,
a youth who had no sense.
8He was going down the street near her corner,
walking along in the direction of her house
9at twilight, as the day was fading,
as the dark of night set in.
10Then out came a woman to meet him,
dressed like a prostitute and with crafty intent.
11(She is unruly and defiant,
her feet never stay at home;
12now in the street, now in the squares,
at every corner she lurks.)
13She took hold of him and kissed him
and with a brazen face she said:
14“Today I fulfilled my vows,
and I have food from my fellowship offering at home.
15So I came out to meet you;
I looked for you and have found you!
16I have covered my bed
with colored linens from Egypt.
17I have perfumed my bed
with myrrh, aloes and cinnamon.
18Come, let’s drink deeply of love till morning;
let’s enjoy ourselves with love!
19My husband is not at home;
he has gone on a long journey.
20He took his purse filled with money
and will not be home till full moon.”
21With persuasive words she led him astray;
she seduced him with her smooth talk.
22All at once he followed her
like an ox going to the slaughter,

23till an arrow pierces his liver,
like a bird darting into a snare,
little knowing it will cost him his life.
24Now then, my sons, listen to me;
pay attention to what I say.
25Do not let your heart turn to her ways
or stray into her paths.
26Many are the victims she has brought down;
her slain are a mighty throng.
27Her house is a highway to the grave,
leading down to the chambers of death.
