이스라엘의 두 번째 인구 조사
1그 재앙이 그친 후에 여호와께서 모세와 아론의 아들 제사장 엘르아 살에게 이렇게 말씀하셨다.
2“모든 이스라엘 백성 가운데서 전쟁에 나가 싸울 수 있는 20세 이상의 사람이 몇 명이나 되는지 각 집안별로 조사하여라.”
3-4그래서 모세와 제사장 엘르아살은 여리 고 맞은편에 있는 요단 강변의 모압 평야에서 이스라엘 지도자들에게 지시하여 20세 이상의 남자들을 조사하게 하였는데 이집트에서 나온 사람들 가운데 20세 이상의 남자들은 다음과 같다:
5-7야곱의 장남 르우벤의 자손들인 하녹, 발루, 헤스론, 갈미의 집안에서 20세 이상의 남자가 43,730명이었다.
8그리고 발루의 아들은 엘리압이며
9엘리압의 아들은 느무엘과 다단과 아비람이었다. 이 다단과 아비람은 백성의 지도자로서 고라와 음모하여 모세와 아론을 반역하고 여호와를 거역한 자들인데
10이들은 땅이 입을 벌려 고라의 일당을 삼켰을 때 그들과 함께 죽음을 당했다. 그리고 그때 불이 고라의 추종자 250명을 태워 죽여 이스라엘 백성에게 경고가 되었으나
11고라의 아들들만은 죽지 않았다.
12-14시므온의 자손들인 느무엘, 야민, 야 긴, 세라, 사울 집안에서는 20세 이상의 남자가 22,200명,
15-18갓의 자손들인 스본, 학기, 수니, 오스니, 에리, 아로디, 아렐리 집안에서는 40,500명,
19-22유다의 자손들인 셀라, 베레스, 세라, 헤스론, 하물의 집안에서는 76,500명이었다. 유다의 두 아들인 엘과 오난은 가나안 땅에서 죽었다.
23-25그리고 잇사갈의 자손들인 돌라, 부아, 야숩, 시므론 집안에서는 64,300명,
26-27스불론의 자손들인 세렛, 엘론, 얄르엘 집안에서는 60,500명이었다.
28요셉의 아들들은 므낫세와 에브라임이며
29므낫세의 자손들은 마길과 길르앗 집안 사람들이었다.
30-32그리고 길르앗 집안에서 이에셀, 헬렉, 아스리엘, 세겜, 스미다, 헤벨 가족이 생겼으며
33헤벨의 아들 슬로브핫에게는 아들이 없고 딸만 있었는데 그들의 이름은 말라, 노아, 호글라, 밀가, 디르사였다.
34이들은 다 므낫세의 자손들이며 이들 집안 가운데서 20세 이상의 남자는 모두 52,700명이었다.
35에브라임의 자손들은 수델라, 베겔, 다한 집안 사람들이었으며
36수델라 집안에서 에란 가족이 생겼다.
37이들은 다 에브라임 자손들이며 이들 집안 가운데서 20세 이상의 남자는 모두 32,500명이었다.
38-39베냐민 자손들은 벨라, 아스벨, 아히 람, 스부밤, 후밤 집안 사람들이었으며
40벨라 집안에서 아릇과 나아만 가족이 생겼다.
41이들은 베냐민의 자손들이며 이들 집안에서 20세 이상의 남자는 45,600명이었다.
42-43그리고 단의 자손인 수함 집안에서는 20세 이상의 남자가 64,400명이었다.
44아셀의 자손들은 임나, 이스위, 브리아 집안 사람들이며
45브리아 집안에서 헤벨과 말기엘 가족이 생겼다.
46또 아셀에게는 세라라는 딸이 있었다.
47이들은 아셀의 자손들이며 이들 집안에서 20세 이상의 남자는 53,400명이었다.
48-50그리고 납달리 자손들인 야셀, 구니, 예셀, 실렘 집안에서는 20세 이상의 남자가 45,400명이었다.
51이상은 이스라엘 백성 가운데 20세 이상의 남자들이며 그 전체 인원은 601,730명이었다.
52여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다.
53“너는 그들의 인원수에 비례하여 땅을 나누어 주어라.
54인원수가 많은 지파에게는 많은 땅을 주고 인원수가 적은 지파에게는 땅을 적게 주어라.
55그러나 각 지파의 조상 이름을 따라서
56인원수가 많은 지파들은 넓은 땅을 차지할 지파들끼리 제비를 뽑고 인원수가 적은 지파들은 적은 땅을 차지할 지파들끼리 제비를 뽑게 하라.”
57레위 지파는 게르손, 고핫, 므라리 집안 사람들로 구성되었으며
58그들의 자손들은 립니, 헤브론, 마흘리, 무시, 고라 가족이었다. 그리고 고핫은 아므람을 낳았고
59아므람의 아내는 이집트에서 태어난 레위의 딸 요게벳이었으며 아므람과 요게벳 사이에서 아론과 모세와 그들의 누이 미리암이 태어났다.
60그리고 아론에게는 나답, 아비후, 엘르아살, 이다말 네 아들이 있었으며
61나답과 아비후는 여호와께서 명령하시지 않은 다른 불로 분향하다가 죽었다.
62이들 레위 사람들은 분배받을 땅이 없었기 때문에 별도로 인구 조사를 받았는데 그들 가운데 개월 이상의 남자는 모두 23,000명이었다.
63이상은 모세와 제사장 엘르아살이 여리고 맞은편에 있는 요단 강변의 모압 평야에서 실시한 인구 조사였다.
64그러나 여기에는 모세와 제사장 아론이 시나이 광야에서 인구 조사를 실시할 당시의 사람들은 하나도 포함되지 않았다.
65여호와께서는 그들이 광야에서 다 죽을 것이라고 말씀하셨으므로 여분네의 아들 갈렙과 눈의 아들 여호수아 외에는 한 사람도 살아 남은 자가 없었다.
1And it came to pass after the plague, that the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, saying, 2Take the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, from twenty years old and upward, throughout their fathers’ house, all that are able to go to war in Israel. 3And Moses and Eleazar the priest spake with them in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho, saying, 4Take the sum of the people, from twenty years old and upward; as the LORD commanded Moses and the children of Israel, which went forth out of the land of Egypt.
5¶ Reuben, the eldest son of Israel: the children of Reuben; Hanoch, of whom cometh the family of the Hanochites: of Pallu, the family of the Palluites: 6Of Hezron, the family of the Hezronites: of Carmi, the family of the Carmites. 7These are the families of the Reubenites: and they that were numbered of them were forty and three thousand and seven hundred and thirty. 8And the sons of Pallu; Eliab. 9And the sons of Eliab; Nemuel, and Dathan, and Abiram. This is that Dathan and Abiram, which were famous in the congregation, who strove against Moses and against Aaron in the company of Korah, when they strove against the LORD: 10And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up together with Korah, when that company died, what time the fire devoured two hundred and fifty men: and they became a sign. 11Notwithstanding the children of Korah died not.
12¶ The sons of Simeon after their families: of Nemuel, the family of the Nemuelites: of Jamin, the family of the Jaminites: of Jachin, the family of the Jachinites:26.12 Nemuel: also called, Jemuel26.12 Jachin: also called, Jarib 13Of Zerah, the family of the Zarhites: of Shaul, the family of the Shaulites.26.13 Zerah: also called, Zohar 14These are the families of the Simeonites, twenty and two thousand and two hundred.
15¶ The children of Gad after their families: of Zephon, the family of the Zephonites: of Haggi, the family of the Haggites: of Shuni, the family of the Shunites:26.15 Zephon: also called, Ziphion 16Of Ozni, the family of the Oznites: of Eri, the family of the Erites:26.16 Ozni: also called, Ezbon 17Of Arod, the family of the Arodites: of Areli, the family of the Arelites.26.17 Arod: also called, Arodi 18These are the families of the children of Gad according to those that were numbered of them, forty thousand and five hundred.
19¶ The sons of Judah were Er and Onan: and Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. 20And the sons of Judah after their families were; of Shelah, the family of the Shelanites: of Pharez, the family of the Pharzites: of Zerah, the family of the Zarhites. 21And the sons of Pharez were; of Hezron, the family of the Hezronites: of Hamul, the family of the Hamulites. 22These are the families of Judah according to those that were numbered of them, threescore and sixteen thousand and five hundred.
23¶ Of the sons of Issachar after their families: of Tola, the family of the Tolaites: of Pua, the family of the Punites:26.23 Pua: or, Phuvah 24Of Jashub, the family of the Jashubites: of Shimron, the family of the Shimronites.26.24 Jashub: or, Job 25These are the families of Issachar according to those that were numbered of them, threescore and four thousand and three hundred.
26¶ Of the sons of Zebulun after their families: of Sered, the family of the Sardites: of Elon, the family of the Elonites: of Jahleel, the family of the Jahleelites. 27These are the families of the Zebulunites according to those that were numbered of them, threescore thousand and five hundred.
28¶ The sons of Joseph after their families were Manasseh and Ephraim. 29Of the sons of Manasseh: of Machir, the family of the Machirites: and Machir begat Gilead: of Gilead come the family of the Gileadites. 30These are the sons of Gilead: of Jeezer, the family of the Jeezerites: of Helek, the family of the Helekites:26.30 Jeezer: also called Abiezer 31And of Asriel, the family of the Asrielites: and of Shechem, the family of the Shechemites: 32And of Shemida, the family of the Shemidaites: and of Hepher, the family of the Hepherites.
33¶ And Zelophehad the son of Hepher had no sons, but daughters: and the names of the daughters of Zelophehad were Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah. 34These are the families of Manasseh, and those that were numbered of them, fifty and two thousand and seven hundred.
35¶ These are the sons of Ephraim after their families: of Shuthelah, the family of the Shuthalhites: of Becher, the family of the Bachrites: of Tahan, the family of the Tahanites.26.35 Becher: also called, Bered 36And these are the sons of Shuthelah: of Eran, the family of the Eranites. 37These are the families of the sons of Ephraim according to those that were numbered of them, thirty and two thousand and five hundred. These are the sons of Joseph after their families.
38¶ The sons of Benjamin after their families: of Bela, the family of the Belaites: of Ashbel, the family of the Ashbelites: of Ahiram, the family of the Ahiramites:26.38 Ahiram: also called, Ehi, or, Aharah 39Of Shupham, the family of the Shuphamites: of Hupham, the family of the Huphamites.26.39 Shupham…Hupham: also called, Muppim and Huppim 40And the sons of Bela were Ard and Naaman: of Ard, the family of the Ardites: and of Naaman, the family of the Naamites.26.40 Ard: also called, Addar 41These are the sons of Benjamin after their families: and they that were numbered of them were forty and five thousand and six hundred.
42¶ These are the sons of Dan after their families: of Shuham, the family of the Shuhamites. These are the families of Dan after their families.26.42 Shuham: or, Hushim 43All the families of the Shuhamites, according to those that were numbered of them, were threescore and four thousand and four hundred.
44¶ Of the children of Asher after their families: of Jimna, the family of the Jimnites: of Jesui, the family of the Jesuites: of Beriah, the family of the Beriites. 45Of the sons of Beriah: of Heber, the family of the Heberites: of Malchiel, the family of the Malchielites. 46And the name of the daughter of Asher was Sarah. 47These are the families of the sons of Asher according to those that were numbered of them; who were fifty and three thousand and four hundred.
48¶ Of the sons of Naphtali after their families: of Jahzeel, the family of the Jahzeelites: of Guni, the family of the Gunites: 49Of Jezer, the family of the Jezerites: of Shillem, the family of the Shillemites.26.49 Shillem: also called, Shallum 50These are the families of Naphtali according to their families: and they that were numbered of them were forty and five thousand and four hundred. 51These were the numbered of the children of Israel, six hundred thousand and a thousand seven hundred and thirty.
52¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 53Unto these the land shall be divided for an inheritance according to the number of names. 54To many thou shalt give the more inheritance, and to few thou shalt give the less inheritance: to every one shall his inheritance be given according to those that were numbered of him.26.54 give the more…: Heb. multiply his inheritance26.54 give the less…: Heb. diminish his inheritance 55Notwithstanding the land shall be divided by lot: according to the names of the tribes of their fathers they shall inherit. 56According to the lot shall the possession thereof be divided between many and few.
57¶ And these are they that were numbered of the Levites after their families: of Gershon, the family of the Gershonites: of Kohath, the family of the Kohathites: of Merari, the family of the Merarites. 58These are the families of the Levites: the family of the Libnites, the family of the Hebronites, the family of the Mahlites, the family of the Mushites, the family of the Korathites. And Kohath begat Amram. 59And the name of Amram’s wife was Jochebed, the daughter of Levi, whom her mother bare to Levi in Egypt: and she bare unto Amram Aaron and Moses, and Miriam their sister. 60And unto Aaron was born Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. 61And Nadab and Abihu died, when they offered strange fire before the LORD. 62And those that were numbered of them were twenty and three thousand, all males from a month old and upward: for they were not numbered among the children of Israel, because there was no inheritance given them among the children of Israel.
63¶ These are they that were numbered by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who numbered the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho. 64But among these there was not a man of them whom Moses and Aaron the priest numbered, when they numbered the children of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai. 65For the LORD had said of them, They shall surely die in the wilderness. And there was not left a man of them, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.
