7¶ Upon the four and twentieth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Sebat, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying, 8I saw by night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that were in the bottom; and behind him were there red horses, speckled, and white.1.8 speckled: or, bay 9Then said I, O my lord, what are these? And the angel that talked with me said unto me, I will shew thee what these be. 10And the man that stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, These are they whom the LORD hath sent to walk to and fro through the earth. 11And they answered the angel of the LORD that stood among the myrtle trees, and said, We have walked to and fro through the earth, and, behold, all the earth sitteth still, and is at rest.
12¶ Then the angel of the LORD answered and said, O LORD of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten years? 13And the LORD answered the angel that talked with me with good words and comfortable words. 14So the angel that communed with me said unto me, Cry thou, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy. 15And I am very sore displeased with the heathen that are at ease: for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction. 16Therefore thus saith the LORD; I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies: my house shall be built in it, saith the LORD of hosts, and a line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem. 17Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.1.17 prosperity: Heb. good
18¶ Then lifted I up mine eyes, and saw, and behold four horns. 19And I said unto the angel that talked with me, What be these? And he answered me, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem. 20And the LORD shewed me four carpenters. 21Then said I, What come these to do? And he spake, saying, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, so that no man did lift up his head: but these are come to fray them, to cast out the horns of the Gentiles, which lifted up their horn over the land of Judah to scatter it.
Chemare la pocăință
1În luna a opta, în al doilea an1 Octombrie-noiembrie 520 î.Cr.; Zaharia a fost contemporan cu Hagai (vezi nota de la Hag. 1:1). al lui Darius, Cuvântul Domnului i‑a vorbit profetului Zaharia, fiul lui Berechia, fiul lui Ido, zicând:
2„Domnul S‑a mâniat foarte tare pe părinții voștri. 3Spune‑le deci: «Așa vorbește Domnul Oștirilor3 Ebr.: YHWH Țebaot. Termenul ebraic pentru oștiri se poate referi: (1) la oștirile lui Israel (Ex. 7:4; Ps. 44:9); (2) la corpurile cerești (Gen. 2:1; Deut. 4:19; Is. 40:26); (3) la îngeri (Ios. 5:14; 1 Regi 22:19; Ps. 148:2). Acest titlu face referire, probabil, la suveranitatea lui Dumnezeu peste orice putere din univers [peste tot în carte].: întoarceți‑vă la Mine, zice Domnul Oștirilor, și Mă voi întoarce și Eu la voi, zice Domnul Oștirilor. 4Nu fiți ca părinții voștri, cărora profeții cei dintâi le proclamau, zicând: ‘Așa vorbește Domnul Oștirilor: întoarceți‑vă de la căile voastre cele rele, de la faptele voastre cele rele.’ Ei însă n‑au ascultat și nici măcar n‑au luat aminte la Mine, zice Domnul. 5Unde sunt acum părinții voștri? Cât despre profeți, trăiesc ei oare pe vecie? 6Totuși, cuvintele și hotărârile pe care le poruncisem robilor Mei, profeții, nu i‑au atins ele pe părinții voștri?
Atunci ei s‑au întors și au zis: ‘Domnul Oștirilor ne‑a făcut așa cum hotărâse să ne facă, după căile și faptele noastre.’»“
Prima viziune: omul dintre mirți
7În a douăzeci și patra zi a lunii a unsprezecea, luna Șebat7 15 februarie 519 î.Cr., în cel de‑al doilea an al lui Darius, Cuvântul Domnului i‑a vorbit profetului Zaharia, fiul lui Berechia, fiul lui Ido, zicând:
8M‑am uitat în timpul nopții și iată că un bărbat era călare pe un cal roșu. El stătea între mirții din vale, iar în urma lui erau cai roșii, bruni și albi.
9Eu am întrebat:
– Ce sunt aceștia, stăpâne?
Îngerul care vorbea cu mine mi‑a zis:
– Îți voi arăta ce sunt aceștia.
10Bărbatul care stătea între mirți a răspuns și a zis:
– Aceștia sunt cei pe care i‑a trimis Domnul ca să cutreiere pământul.
11Ei I‑au răspuns Îngerului11 Sau: îngerului [peste tot în carte]. Domnului, Care stătea între mirți, și I‑au zis: „Am cutreierat pământul și iată că tot pământul este așezat și liniștit.“
12Îngerul Domnului a întrebat, zicând:
– Doamne al Oștirilor, până când nu vei avea milă de Ierusalim și de cetățile lui Iuda, pe care ai fost mânios în acești șaptezeci de ani12 Vezi Ier. 25:11-12.?
13Apoi Domnul i‑a răspuns cu vorbe bune îngerului care vorbea cu mine, cu vorbe de mângâiere.
14Îngerul care vorbea cu mine mi‑a zis:
– Vestește și spune: „Așa vorbește Domnul Oștirilor: «Sunt gelos pentru Ierusalim, am o mare gelozie pentru Sion, 15dar sunt plin de mânie împotriva neamurilor care trăiesc fără grijă, căci Eu Mă supărasem numai puțin însă ele au mărit nenorocirea.»
16De aceea, așa vorbește Domnul: «Mă întorc cu milă spre Ierusalim: Casa Mea de acolo va fi rezidită, zice Domnul Oștirilor, iar frânghia de măsurat va fi întinsă peste Ierusalim.»“
17Vestește mai departe și spune: „Așa vorbește Domnul Oștirilor: «Cetățile Mele se vor revărsa din nou de belșug. Domnul va mângâia iarăși Sionul și va alege din nou Ierusalimul.»“
A doua viziune: cele patru coarne și cei patru meșteșugari
18Atunci mi‑am ridicat ochii, m‑am uitat, și iată că erau patru coarne18 Coarnele sunt armele de bază și ornamentele unui animal, mărimea și condiția acestora fiind indiciul puterii, al poziției și al sănătății/virilității lui. Prin urmare, cornul a ajuns să reprezinte în Biblie puterea, demnitatea și autoritatea, precum și victoria în luptă. În multe basoreliefuri mesopotamieme regii și zeitățile apar purtând coroane cu coarne pe ele. De asemenea, cornul se referă și la posteritate, la urmașii cuiva (vezi 2 Sam. 2:1; 1 Cron. 25:5; Ps. 132:17) [peste tot în capitol]..
19L‑am întrebat pe îngerul care vorbea cu mine:
– Ce sunt acestea?
El mi‑a răspuns:
– Acestea sunt coarnele care au împrăștiat Iuda, Israelul și Ierusalimul.
20Domnul mi‑a arătat patru meșteșugari.
21Eu am întrebat:
– Ce vin să facă aceștia?
El mi‑a răspuns:
– Acelea sunt coarnele care l‑au împrăștiat pe Iuda, astfel încât niciun om nu și‑a mai ridicat capul. Dar acești meșteșugari au venit să le înspăimânte și să taie coarnele neamurilor care și‑au ridicat cornul împotriva țării lui Iuda ca s‑o împrăștie.
