1Then Naomi her mother in law said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee? 2And now is not Boaz of our kindred, with whose maidens thou wast? Behold, he winnoweth barley to night in the threshingfloor. 3Wash thyself therefore, and anoint thee, and put thy raiment upon thee, and get thee down to the floor: but make not thyself known unto the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking. 4And it shall be, when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall lie, and thou shalt go in, and uncover his feet, and lay thee down; and he will tell thee what thou shalt do.3.4 uncover: or, lift up the clothes that are on 5And she said unto her, All that thou sayest unto me I will do.
6¶ And she went down unto the floor, and did according to all that her mother in law bade her. 7And when Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of corn: and she came softly, and uncovered his feet, and laid her down.
8¶ And it came to pass at midnight, that the man was afraid, and turned himself: and, behold, a woman lay at his feet.3.8 turned: or, took hold on 9And he said, Who art thou? And she answered, I am Ruth thine handmaid: spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid; for thou art a near kinsman.3.9 a near…: or, one that hath right to redeem 10And he said, Blessed be thou of the LORD, my daughter: for thou hast shewed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followedst not young men, whether poor or rich. 11And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.3.11 city: Heb. gate 12And now it is true that I am thy near kinsman: howbeit there is a kinsman nearer than I. 13Tarry this night, and it shall be in the morning, that if he will perform unto thee the part of a kinsman, well; let him do the kinsman’s part: but if he will not do the part of a kinsman to thee, then will I do the part of a kinsman to thee, as the LORD liveth: lie down until the morning.
14¶ And she lay at his feet until the morning: and she rose up before one could know another. And he said, Let it not be known that a woman came into the floor. 15Also he said, Bring the vail that thou hast upon thee, and hold it. And when she held it, he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her: and she went into the city.3.15 vail: or, sheet, or, apron 16And when she came to her mother in law, she said, Who art thou, my daughter? And she told her all that the man had done to her. 17And she said, These six measures of barley gave he me; for he said to me, Go not empty unto thy mother in law. 18Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.
Ang Pangabay ni Ruth kay Boaz
1Isa ka adlaw, nagsiling si Noemi kay Ruth, “Anak, gusto ko nga makapamana ka na para sa imo kaayuhan. 2Nadumduman mo bala si Boaz nga aton paryente, nga ang iya mga suluguon nga babayi nakaupod mo sa pag-obra? Abi mo, karon sa gab-i magapahangin siya sang barley. 3Gani magpaligo ka, magpahamot, kag isuksok ang matahom mo nga bayo. Magkadto ka dayon sa linasan, pero indi ka magpakita sa iya hasta makatapos siya kaon kag inom. 4Kon matulog na gani siya, bantayan mo kon diin siya mahigda. Kag kon matulugan na siya, kadtui siya kag alsaha ang habol sa iya tiilan kag didto ka magtulog.3:4 alsaha… magtulog: Siguro bilang pagpakita nga nagapangayo siya sang proteksyon kay Boaz. Dayon hambalan ka niya kon ano ang imo himuon.” 5Nagsabat si Ruth, “Himuon ko ang tanan mo nga ginsiling.” 6Gani nagdulhog siya sa linasan agod himuon ang tanan nga ginsiling sang iya ugangan sa iya.
7Sang nakatapos na si Boaz kaon kag inom, maayo gid ang iya pamatyag. Naghigda siya sa kilid sang tinumpok nga mga uyas agod magtulog. Hinay-hinay nga nagpalapit si Ruth sa iya kag gin-alsa ang habol sa iya tiilan kag naghigda didto. 8Sang mga tungang gab-i na, nakabugtaw si Boaz, kag sang paghiwod3:8 paghiwod: ukon, pagliso. niya natingala siya nga may babayi nga nagahigda sa iya tiilan. 9Nagpamangkot si Boaz, “Sin-o ka?” Nagsabat siya, “Ako si Ruth. Malapit mo ako nga paryente nga dapat mo atipanon. Karon, tabuni ako sang imo bayo sa pagpakita nga pangasaw-on kag atipanon mo ako.” 10Nagsiling si Boaz, “Day, kabay pa nga pakamaayuhon ka sang Ginoo. Ang pag-unong nga ginpakita mo subong sa imo pamilya mas sobra pa sa ginpakita mo sadto.3:10 Ang pag-unong nga ginpakita niya sadto sa iya pamilya amo ang pag-upod niya sa iya ugangan pabalik sa Juda. Kag ang pag-unong nga ginapakita niya subong amo ang pagpasulabi niya nga makapamana sang paryente sang iya napatay nga bana. Kay wala ka naglagas sa bataon nga lalaki, manggaranon man siya ukon imol. 11Gani indi ka magkabalaka ’day, kay himuon ko ang tanan nga ginpangabay mo. Kay nahibaluan sang tanan ko nga mga kasimanwa nga maayo ka nga babayi. 12Matuod nga malapit mo ako nga paryente nga may responsibilidad sa pag-atipan sa imo, pero may ara pa nga tawo nga mas malapit mo pa gid nga paryente sang sa akon. 13Pabilin ka diri sa bilog nga gab-i, kag buwas sa aga tan-awon ta kon batunon niya ang iya responsibilidad sa imo. Kon magsugot siya, ti maayo; pero kon indi gani, ginasumpa ko sa buhi nga Ginoo nga batunon ko ang responsibilidad ko sa imo. Sige, diri ka lang tulog hasta mag-aga.”
14Gani nagtulog si Ruth sa tiilan dampi ni Boaz hasta mag-aga, pero madulumdulom pa nagbangon si Ruth agod nga indi siya makilala, kay indi gusto ni Boaz nga may makahibalo nga nagkadto si Ruth sa iya didto sa linasan. 15Nagsiling si Boaz kay Ruth, “Dal-a diri sa akon ang ginasuksok mo nga kunop kag humlada.” Ginhumlad ini ni Ruth, kag ginbubuan dayon ni Boaz sang mga anom ka kilo3:15 mga anom ka kilo: Indi klaro sa Hebreo kon pila gid. nga barley kag ginpapas-an kay Ruth. Kag nagbalik si Ruth3:15 si Ruth: ukon, si Boaz. sa banwa.
16Pag-abot ni Ruth sa iya ugangan, ginpamangkot siya, “Kamusta, anak?” Ginsugiran siya dayon ni Ruth sang tanan nga ginhimo ni Boaz. 17Kag nagsiling pa gid si Ruth, “Indi gusto ni Boaz nga magpauli ako sa imo nga wala sing dala, gani ginhatagan niya ako sining mga anom ka kilo nga barley.” 18Nagsiling si Noemi, “Hulat ka lang, anak, hasta mahibaluan mo kon ano gid ang matabo, kay indi gid mag-untat si Boaz hasta nga mapatigayon niya subong nga adlaw ang ginpangabay mo sa iya.”
