1And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. 2In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. 3And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: 4And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. 5And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
6And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done. 7Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book. 8And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things. 9Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God. 10And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. 11He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. 12And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. 13I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. 14Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. 15For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. 16I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. 17And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
18For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. 20He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. 21The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
1آنگاه رودخانهٔ آب حيات را به من نشان داد كه مثل بلور، صاف و زلال بود. رودخانه از تخت خدا و «برّه» جاری می‌شد، 2و از وسط جادهٔ اصلی می‌گذشت. دو طرف رودخانه، درختان حيات قرار داشت كه سالی دوازده بار ميوه می‌دادند يعنی هر ماه يک نوع ميوهٔ تازه. برگهايش نيز شفابخش بود و برای درمان قومها به کار می‌رفت.
3در شهر چيزی بدی يافت نخواهد شد، چون تخت خدا و «برّه» در آنجاست. خدمتگزاران خدا، او را پرستش خواهند كرد، 4و رويش را خواهند ديد و نامش روی پيشانی‌شان نوشته خواهد بود. 5در آنجا ديگر شب نخواهد بود. احتياجی هم به چراغ و خورشيد نخواهد بود، چون خداوند بزرگ نور ايشان خواهد بود و ايشان تا ابد سلطنت خواهند كرد.
6آنگاه فرشته به من گفت: «اين سخنان راست و قابل اعتماد است. و خدايی كه وقايع آينده را از قبل به انبيا خود اطلاع می‌دهد، فرشتهٔ خود را فرستاده است تا آنچه را كه بزودی روی خواهد داد به شما اطلاع دهد.»
عيسی بزودی می‌آيد
7عيسی مسيح می‌فرمايد: «گوش كنيد! من بزودی می‌آيم. خوشا به حال كسانی كه آنچه را كه در اين كتاب پيشگويی شده، باور می‌كنند.»
8من، يوحنا، تمام اين چيزها را ديدم و شنيدم و زانو زدم تا فرشته‌ای را كه آنها را به من نشان داده بود، پرستش كنم. 9ولی او بار ديگر به من گفت: «نه، اين كار را نكن. من نيز مانند تو و برادرانت يعنی انبيا خدا، و تمام كسانی كه به حقايق اين كتاب اعتماد دارند، از خدمتگزاران عيسی می‌باشم. پس فقط خدا را پرستش كن.»
10سپس به من دستور داده، گفت: «پيشگويی‌های اين كتاب را در دسترس همه بگذار، چون بزودی به وقوع خواهند پيوست. 11وقتی آن زمان فرا رسد، بدكاران باز هم به كارهای بد خود ادامه خواهند داد و فاسدان باز هم فاسدتر خواهند شد، ولی نیکان، نیکتر و پاكان، پاکتر می‌گردند.»
12عيسی مسيح می‌فرمايد: «چشم به راه باشيد، من به زودی می‌آيم و برای هر كس مطابق اعمالش پاداشی با خود خواهم آورد. 13من الف و يا، آغاز و پايان، اول و آخر هستم. 14خوشا به حال كسانی كه لباسهایشان را دائماً می‌شويند. آنها اجازهٔ ورود به شهر و خوردن ميوهٔ درخت حيات را خواهند داشت. 15اما فاسدان، جادوگران، زناكاران، قاتلان، بت‌پرستان، دروغگويان و متقلبان، به شهر راه نخواهند يافت.
16«من، عيسی، فرشتهٔ خود را نزد شما فرستادم تا همه چيز را با كليساها در ميان بگذارم. من از اصل و نسب داوود هستم. من ستارهٔ درخشندهٔ صبح می‌باشم.»
17روح و عروس می‌گويند: «بيا!» هر کس اين را می‌شنود، بگويد: «بيا!» هر كه تشنه است بيايد، و هر کس مايل است بيايد، و از آب حيات به رايگان بنوشد.
18به كسی كه پيشگويی‌های اين كتاب را می‌شنود با صراحت می‌گويم كه اگر به نوشته‌های اين كتاب چيزی اضافه كند، خدا بلاهای اين كتاب را بر سرش خواهد آورد. 19و اگر از اين پيشگويی‌ها مطلبی كم كند، خداوند او را از درخت حيات و شهر مقدس كه آن را شرح دادم، بی‌نصيب خواهد ساخت. 20كسی كه اين چيزها را گفته است، می‌فرمايد: «بله، من بزودی می‌آيم!»
«آمين! ای عيسای خداوند، بيا!»
21فيض خداوند ما عيسی مسيح بر همهٔ شما باد! آمين!
