A Prayer of David.
1Hear the right, O LORD, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.17.1 the right: Heb. justice17.1 not…: Heb. without lips of deceit
2Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold the things that are equal.
3Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.
4Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.
5Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.17.5 slip…: Heb. be not moved
6I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.

8Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,

Oração de David.
1Senhor, aplica a tua justiça na minha vida;
atende à súplica que te dirijo.
Dá ouvidos à minha oração,
pois é feita com toda a sinceridade.
2Publica a tua sentença a meu favor;
dá-me razão, Senhor.
3Tu me puseste à prova,
até durante a noite me tens examinado,
e não tens encontrado nada de falso;
estou decidido a não pecar nas minhas palavras.
4Tenho seguido as tuas palavras;
tenho-me guardado de homens cruéis e violentos.
5Dirige os meus passos nos teus caminhos,
para que nunca vacile.
6Se te chamei, ó Deus,
é porque sei que me queres ouvir;
escuta-me e dá ouvidos às palavras da minha oração.
7Mostra-me as maravilhas do teu amor.
Tu livras os que em ti se refugiam,
daqueles que são teus inimigos
e que se revoltam contra ti.
8Guarda-me como se fosse a menina do teu olho;
esconde-me, à sombra das tuas asas,
dos homens maus que me oprimem,
9Defende-me dos perversos que me oprimem,
dos que andam à minha volta para me matar.
10Andam inchados de orgulho;
só sabem falar com altivez.
11Espiam os meus passos,
observam-me cuidadosamente,
para me lançar ao chão, assim que puderem.
12São como leões desejosos de se lançar sobre a presa;
como leõezinhos que se escondem,
esperando a oportunidade.
13Senhor, levanta-te e fá-los parar;
livra a minha alma dessa gente perversa,
livra-me pela tua espada.
14Salva-me desta gente mundana,
cujos interesses estão só nos lucros desta vida.
Tu enches de bens materiais aqueles que amas,
fartas os seus filhos e os filhos dos seus filhos.
15Pela tua justiça, verei a tua face;
quando acordar,
ficarei satisfeito com a visão da tua presença!
