2Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD? who can shew forth all his praise?
3Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times.
4Remember me, O LORD, with the favour that thou bearest unto thy people: O visit me with thy salvation;
5That I may see the good of thy chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance.
6We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly.
7Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea.
8Nevertheless he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.
9He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.
10And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.
11And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.
12Then believed they his words; they sang his praise.

14But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.106.14 lusted…: Heb. lusted a lust
15And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.
16They envied Moses also in the camp, and Aaron the saint of the LORD.
17The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram.
18And a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked.
19They made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped the molten image.
20Thus they changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that eateth grass.
21They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;
22Wondrous works in the land of Ham, and terrible things by the Red sea.
23Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.
24Yea, they despised the pleasant land, they believed not his word:106.24 the pleasant…: Heb. a land of desire
25But murmured in their tents, and hearkened not unto the voice of the LORD.
26Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness:106.26 to overthrow: Heb. to make them fall
27To overthrow their seed also among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands.106.27 To overthrow: Heb. To make them fall
28They joined themselves also unto Baal-peor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead.
29Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions: and the plague brake in upon them.
30Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed.
31And that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore.
32They angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes:
33Because they provoked his spirit, so that he spake unadvisedly with his lips.
34They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD commanded them:
35But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.
36And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.
37Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,
38And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.
39Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.
40Therefore was the wrath of the LORD kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance.
41And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them.
42Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand.
43Many times did he deliver them; but they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity.106.43 brought…: or, impoverished, or, weakened
44Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry:
45And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies.
46He made them also to be pitied of all those that carried them captives.
47Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks unto thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise.

مهربانی خداوند نسبت به قومش
1خداوند را حمد و سپاس گوييد، زيرا كه او مهربان است و رحمتش جاودانی! 2كيست كه بتواند تمام كارهای بزرگی را كه خداوند انجام داده است بيان كند و شكر و سپاس او را آنچنان كه بايد و شايد، بجا آورد؟ 3خوشا به حال آنانی كه با انصاف و درستكار هستند.
4-5ای خداوند، هنگامی كه بر قوم خود رحمت می‌فرمايی و آنها را نجات می‌دهی مرا نيز به ياد آور و نجات بده تا سعادت برگزيدگان تو را ببينم و با قوم تو شادی كنم و در فخر آنها شريک باشم.
6ما نيز مانند اجداد خود گناه كرده‌ايم؛ شرور و بدكار بوده‌ايم. 7اجدادمان معجزات تو را در مصر درک ننمودند. آنها محبت و رحمت تو را فراموش كردند و در كنار دريای سرخ از اطاعت تو سر باز زدند. 8ليكن تو، همانگونه كه وعده فرموده بودی، آنها را نجات دادی و بدين وسيله قدرت خود را آشكار ساختی. 9دريای سرخ را امر فرمودی و خشک گرديد و بنی‌اسرائيل را هدايت كردی تا از ميان دريا كه همچون بيابان، خشک شده بود گذر كنند. 10آنها را از دست دشمنانشان رهانيدی و آزاد ساختی. 11همه دشمنان آنها در دريا غرق شدند و حتی يكی از آنها نيز زنده نماند.
12آنگاه قوم خداوند، به او ايمان آوردند و او را با سرود ستايش كردند. 13ولی طولی نكشيد كه معجزاتش را فراموش كردند و بدون مشورت با او به راه خود ادامه دادند. 14آنها با خواسته‌های نفسانی خود، خدا را در صحرا امتحان كردند. 15خدا هم آنچه را كه خواستند به ايشان داد، ولی آنها را به بيماری سختی مبتلا ساخت.
16بنی‌اسرائيل در صحرا به موسی و هارون، پيشوايان برگزيده خداوند، حسد بردند. 17آنگاه زمين دهان گشود و «داتان» و «ابيرام» را با خاندانشان فرو برد، 18و آتش از آسمان بر طرفداران ايشان افروخته شد و آن مردم شرور را سوزانيد.
19بنی‌اسرائيل در دامنه كوه سينا بُتی گوساله شكل از طلا ساختند و آن را پرستش كردند. 20آنها به جای عبادت خدای پرجلال، مجسمه گاو را پرستش نمودند. 21-22به اين ترتيب، خدای نجات دهنده خود را خوار شمردند و كارهای شگفت‌انگيز او را در مصر و دريای سرخ فراموش كردند. 23آنگاه خداوند خواست ايشان را هلاک كند، ولی خادم برگزيده او موسی به شفاعت برخاست و التماس نمود كه از نابود كردن آنها بگذرد.
24بنی‌اسرائيل نمی‌خواستند وارد سرزمين موعود شوند، چون به وعده خدا كه گفته بود آن زمين را به ايشان می‌دهد، ايمان نداشتند. 25آنها در خيمه‌های خود پيوسته غرغر می‌كردند و به دستورات خداوند گوش نمی‌دادند. 26از اين رو، خداوند خواست ايشان را در صحرا نابود كند، 27و فرزندانشان را در سرزمينهای بيگانه پراكنده و آواره سازد.
28بنی‌اسرائيل در «فغور» به پرستش بت بعل پرداختند و از گوشت قربانیهایی كه به بتهای بی‌جان تقديم می‌شد، خوردند. 29با اين رفتار خود، خشم خداوند را برانگيختند كه به سبب آن بيماری وبا دامنگير آنها شد. 30آنگاه «فينحاس» برخاسته، افراد مقصر را مجازات نمود و وبا قطع گرديد. 31اين كار نيک فينحاس در نزد خدا هرگز فراموش نخواهد شد و تمام نسلها او را به نيكی ياد خواهند كرد.
32بنی‌اسرائيل در كنار چشمهٔ «مريبه»، خداوند را خشمگين ساختند، چنانكه حتی موسی به خاطر آنها از ورود به سرزمين كنعان محروم شد. 33زيرا چنان موسی را به ستوه آوردند كه او غضبناک شده، سخن ناشايست به زبان راند.
34آنها، قومهايی را كه خداوند گفته بود از بين ببرند، نكشتند، 35بلكه با آنها وصلت نمودند و از كارهای بد ايشان پيروی كردند. 36بتهای آنها را پرستش نمودند و با اين كار، خود را محكوم به مرگ كردند. 37اسرائيلی‌ها، پسران و دختران خود را برای بتها قربانی كردند. 38خون فرزندان بی‌گناه خود را برای بتهای كنعان ريختند و زمين موعود را با خون آنها ناپاک ساختند. 39با اين كارها، خود را آلوده كردند و به خدا خيانت ورزيدند. 40بنابراين، خشم خداوند بر بنی‌اسرائيل افروخته شد و او از آنها بيزار گرديد. 41آنها را به دست قومهایی كه از ايشان نفرت داشتند، سپرد تا بر آنها حكمرانی كنند. 42دشمنانشان بر آنها ظلم كردند و ايشان را خوار و ذليل ساختند.
43خداوند بارها بنی‌اسرائيل را از دست دشمنانشان نجات بخشيد، ولی آنها هر بار بر ضد او شوريدند و در گناهان خود بيشتر غرق شدند. 44با وجود اين، هنگامی كه فرياد برآوردند، خداوند به داد ايشان رسيد و به درماندگی آنها توجه نمود. 45او وعده‌ای را كه به ايشان داده بود، به ياد آورد و به سبب رحمت فراوانش، آنها را مجازات نكرد. 46او دل اسيركنندگان آنها را به رقت آورد تا به آنها رحم كنند.
47ای خداوند، ما را نجات ده. ما را از ميان قومها، به سرزمين خودمان برگردان تا نام مقدس تو را حمد گویيم و با شادی تو را ستايش كنيم.
48خداوند، خدای اسرائيل، از حال تا ابد متبارک باد. همه مردم اسرائيل بگويند: «آمين! خدا را سپاس باد!»
