1Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts. 2But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap: 3And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness. 4Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto the LORD, as in the days of old, and as in former years.3.4 former: or, ancient 5And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts.3.5 oppress: or, defraud 6For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
7¶ Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?
8¶ Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. 9Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. 10Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.3.10 pour…: Heb. empty out 11And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.3.11 destroy: Heb. corrupt 12And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.
13¶ Your words have been stout against me, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, What have we spoken so much against thee? 14Ye have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts?3.14 ordinance: Heb. observation3.14 mournfully: Heb. in black 15And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea, they that tempt God are even delivered.3.15 are set up: Heb. are built
16¶ Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name. 17And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.3.17 jewels: or, special treasure 18Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.

十分之一奉獻
6「我耶和華永恆不變，所以你們這些雅各的子孫才沒有滅絕。」 7萬軍之耶和華說：「從你們祖先開始，你們就常常偏離我的律例，不肯遵從。現在你們要轉向我，我就轉向你們。可是你們竟然說，『我們怎麼轉向你呢？』 8人怎可搶奪上帝的東西呢？可是你們不但搶奪我的東西，還說，『我們在何事上搶過你的東西呢？』
「你們在十分之一的奉獻和其他供物上搶奪我的東西。 9舉國上下都是如此，所以你們必受咒詛。」 10萬軍之耶和華說：「你們要把當納的十分之一全部送到我的倉庫，使我的殿中有糧。你們這樣試試，看我會不會為你們打開天上的窗戶，把祝福傾倒給你們，直到無處可容。」 11萬軍之耶和華說：「我必為你們驅除害蟲，不許牠們毀壞你們地裡的出產，你們田間的葡萄必不會未熟先落。」 12萬軍之耶和華說：「萬國必稱你們為有福的，因為這地方必成為一片樂土。」
13耶和華說：「你們出言譭謗我，還問，『我們怎麼譭謗你了？』 14你們說，『事奉上帝是虛空的。遵從上帝的吩咐，在萬軍之耶和華面前痛悔有什麼益處？ 15如今我們稱狂傲的人有福，因為作惡的人凡事順利，他們雖然試探上帝，卻仍能逃過災禍。』」
16那時，敬畏耶和華的彼此交談，耶和華必留心傾聽，祂面前的紀念冊上記錄著敬畏祂和尊崇祂名的人。 17萬軍之耶和華說：「到我所定的日子，他們必成為我寶貴的產業，我要憐憫他們，如同父親憐憫他的孝順兒子。 18那時，你們將再度看出義人與惡人之間的區別，事奉上帝者和不事奉上帝者之間的不同。
