1And the LORD spake unto Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they offered before the LORD, and died; 2And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat. 3Thus shall Aaron come into the holy place: with a young bullock for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering. 4He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches upon his flesh, and shall be girded with a linen girdle, and with the linen mitre shall he be attired: these are holy garments; therefore shall he wash his flesh in water, and so put them on.
5And he shall take of the congregation of the children of Israel two kids of the goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering. 6And Aaron shall offer his bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and make an atonement for himself, and for his house. 7And he shall take the two goats, and present them before the LORD at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. 8And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the LORD, and the other lot for the scapegoat.16.8 scapegoat: Heb. Azazel 9And Aaron shall bring the goat upon which the LORD’s lot fell, and offer him for a sin offering.16.9 fell: Heb. went up 10But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness. 11And Aaron shall bring the bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and shall make an atonement for himself, and for his house, and shall kill the bullock of the sin offering which is for himself: 12And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before the LORD, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the vail: 13And he shall put the incense upon the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is upon the testimony, that he die not: 14And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times.
15¶ Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the vail, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat: 16And he shall make an atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions in all their sins: and so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation, that remaineth among them in the midst of their uncleanness.16.16 remaineth: Heb. dwelleth 17And there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he goeth in to make an atonement in the holy place, until he come out, and have made an atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the congregation of Israel. 18And he shall go out unto the altar that is before the LORD, and make an atonement for it; and shall take of the blood of the bullock, and of the blood of the goat, and put it upon the horns of the altar round about. 19And he shall sprinkle of the blood upon it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it, and hallow it from the uncleanness of the children of Israel.
20¶ And when he hath made an end of reconciling the holy place, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat: 21And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness:16.21 a fit…: Heb. a man of opportunity 22And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness.16.22 not…: Heb. of separation 23And Aaron shall come into the tabernacle of the congregation, and shall put off the linen garments, which he put on when he went into the holy place, and shall leave them there: 24And he shall wash his flesh with water in the holy place, and put on his garments, and come forth, and offer his burnt offering, and the burnt offering of the people, and make an atonement for himself, and for the people. 25And the fat of the sin offering shall he burn upon the altar. 26And he that let go the goat for the scapegoat shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward come into the camp. 27And the bullock for the sin offering, and the goat for the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the holy place, shall one carry forth without the camp; and they shall burn in the fire their skins, and their flesh, and their dung. 28And he that burneth them shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.
29¶ And this shall be a statute for ever unto you: that in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger that sojourneth among you: 30For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before the LORD. 31It shall be a sabbath of rest unto you, and ye shall afflict your souls, by a statute for ever. 32And the priest, whom he shall anoint, and whom he shall consecrate to minister in the priest’s office in his father’s stead, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen clothes, even the holy garments:16.32 consecrate: Heb. fill his hand 33And he shall make an atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall make an atonement for the tabernacle of the congregation, and for the altar, and he shall make an atonement for the priests, and for all the people of the congregation. 34And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the LORD commanded Moses.

3»Aarón deberá entrar en el santuario con un ternero para el sacrificio por el perdón de pecados y un carnero para el holocausto. 4Se pondrá la túnica sagrada y la ropa interior de tela de lino. Se ceñirá con la faja de lino y se pondrá el turbante de lino. Estas son las vestiduras sagradas que se pondrá después de haberse bañado con agua. 5De la comunidad de los israelitas, Aarón tomará dos machos cabríos para el sacrificio por el perdón y un carnero para el holocausto.
6»Después de que haya ofrecido el novillo del sacrificio por el perdón para que tanto él como su familia sean perdonados, 7tomará los dos machos cabríos y los presentará ante el Señor, a la entrada de la Tienda de reunión. 8Entonces Aarón echará suertes sobre los dos machos cabríos, uno para el Señor y otro para soltarlo en el desierto.16:8 para soltarlo en el desierto. Lit. para Azazel (puede significar enviado al demonio que habita en el desierto o chivo expiatorio); también en vv. 10 y 26. 9Aarón ofrecerá como sacrificio por el perdón el macho cabrío que le tocó al Señor, 10pero presentará vivo ante el Señor, para obtener el perdón, el macho cabrío que soltará en el desierto.
11»Aarón presentará el novillo para su propio sacrificio por el perdón de pecados, y obtendrá así el perdón por él y por su familia. Degollará el novillo para su propio sacrificio por el perdón. 12Luego tomará del altar que está ante el Señor un incensario lleno de brasas, junto con dos puñados llenos de incienso aromático en polvo, y los llevará tras la cortina. 13Entonces colocará el incienso sobre el fuego, en presencia del Señor, para que la nube de incienso cubra la tapa que está sobre el arca con las tablas del pacto. De esa manera Aarón no morirá. 14Después tomará un poco de la sangre del novillo y la rociará con su dedo al costado oriental de la tapa del arca; la rociará delante de la tapa siete veces.
15»Luego degollará el macho cabrío del sacrificio por el perdón en favor del pueblo. Llevará su sangre detrás de la cortina y hará con esa sangre lo mismo que hizo con la del novillo: la rociará sobre y delante de la tapa del arca. 16Así purificará el santuario de las impurezas y transgresiones de los israelitas, cualesquiera que hayan sido sus pecados. Hará lo mismo por la Tienda de reunión, que está entre ellos en medio de sus impurezas. 17Nadie deberá estar en la Tienda de reunión desde el momento en que Aarón entre para pedir el perdón de los pecados en el santuario hasta que salga, es decir, mientras esté haciendo el sacrificio por sí mismo, por su familia y por toda la asamblea de Israel.
18»Aarón saldrá luego para purificar el altar que está delante del Señor. Tomará sangre del novillo y del macho cabrío y la untará sobre cada uno de los cuernos del altar, 19y con el dedo rociará con sangre el altar siete veces. Así lo consagrará y lo purificará de las impurezas de los israelitas.
20»Cuando Aarón haya terminado de purificar el santuario, la Tienda de reunión y el altar, presentará el macho cabrío vivo 21y le impondrá las manos sobre la cabeza. Confesará entonces todas las iniquidades y transgresiones de los israelitas, cualesquiera que hayan sido sus pecados. Así el macho cabrío cargará con ellos, y será enviado al desierto por medio de un hombre designado para esto. 22El hombre soltará en el desierto al macho cabrío y este se llevará a tierra árida todas las iniquidades.
23»Entonces Aarón entrará en la Tienda de reunión, se quitará los vestidos de tela de lino que se puso antes de entrar en el santuario, y allí los dejará. 24Se bañará con agua en un lugar santo y se volverá a vestir. Después saldrá y ofrecerá su propio holocausto y el del pueblo. Así obtendrá el perdón de sus pecados y los del pueblo. 25Además, quemará sobre el altar la grasa del sacrificio por el perdón.
26»El encargado de soltar el macho cabrío en el desierto deberá lavarse la ropa y bañarse con agua. Solo después de hacer esto podrá volver al campamento. 27El novillo del sacrificio por el perdón y el macho cabrío del sacrificio por el perdón, cuya sangre se llevó para purificar el santuario, se sacarán del campamento, y la piel, la carne y el excremento se quemarán. 28El que les prenda fuego deberá lavarse la ropa y bañarse. Solo después de hacer esto podrá volver al campamento.
29»Este será para ustedes un estatuto perpetuo, tanto para el nativo como para el extranjero que viva entre ustedes: El día diez del mes séptimo ayunarán y se humillarán, y no realizarán ningún tipo de trabajo. 30En dicho día se pedirá el perdón de sus pecados, y delante del Señor serán purificados de todos sus pecados. 31Será para ustedes un día de completo reposo, en el cual ayunarán. Es un estatuto perpetuo. 32El sacerdote que haya sido ungido y ordenado como sucesor de su padre, realizará el sacrificio para perdón de pecados. Se pondrá las vestiduras sagradas de tela de lino 33y hará el sacrificio de purificación del Lugar Santísimo, por la Tienda de reunión y por el altar. También hará el sacrificio por el perdón de pecados a favor de los sacerdotes y de toda la comunidad allí reunida.
34»Este será un estatuto perpetuo: Una vez al año se deberá hacer el sacrificio para pedir el perdón de todos los israelitas a causa de todos sus pecados».
Y se hizo tal como el Señor se lo había mandado a Moisés.
