1Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish’s belly, 2And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.2.2 by…: or, out of mine affliction2.2 hell: or, the grave 3For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.2.3 midst: Heb. heart 4Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple. 5The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head. 6I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.2.6 bottoms: Heb. cuttings off2.6 corruption: or, the pit 7When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple. 8They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy. 9But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.
10¶ And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.

3พระองค์ทรงเหวี่ยงข้าพระองค์ลงมาในห้วงลึก
สู่ใจกลางมหาสมุทร
กระแสน้ำถาโถมเข้าใส่ข้าพระองค์
และระลอกคลื่นของพระองค์
ท่วมมิดข้าพระองค์
4ข้าพระองค์กล่าวว่า ‘ข้าพระองค์ถูกเนรเทศ
พ้นจากสายพระเนตรของพระองค์แล้ว
ถึงกระนั้นข้าพระองค์จะมุ่งมอง
ไปยังพระวิหารอันศักดิ์สิทธิ์ของพระองค์อีก’
5น้ำท่วมมิดข้าพระองค์
ที่ลึกล้อมรอบข้าพระองค์
สาหร่ายทะเลพันรอบศีรษะของข้าพระองค์
6ข้าพระองค์จมลงมาถึงรากภูเขา
แผ่นดินเบื้องล่างขังข้าพระองค์ไว้เป็นนิตย์
แต่พระองค์ทรงช่วยชีวิตข้าพระองค์ขึ้นมาจากเหว
ข้าแต่พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของข้าพระองค์
7“เมื่อชีวิตของข้าพระองค์กำลังจะหลุดลอยไป
ข้าแต่องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าข้าพระองค์ระลึกถึงพระองค์
คำอธิษฐานของข้าพระองค์ขึ้นไปถึงพระองค์
ไปถึงพระวิหารอันศักดิ์สิทธิ์ของพระองค์
8“บรรดาคนที่ยึดติดกับเทวรูปอันไร้ค่า
สูญเสียพระคุณซึ่งเขาควรจะได้
9ส่วนข้าพระองค์จะถวายเครื่องบูชาแด่พระองค์
ด้วยบทเพลงโมทนาพระคุณ
ข้าพระองค์ปฏิญาณไว้อย่างไร ข้าพระองค์จะทำเช่นนั้น
การช่วยให้รอดมาจากองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า”
10แล้วองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าตรัสสั่งปลานั้น มันก็สำรอกโยนาห์ออกมาไว้ที่ริมฝั่ง
