1Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said, 2If we assay to commune with thee, wilt thou be grieved? but who can withhold himself from speaking?4.2 to…: Heb. a word4.2 withhold…: Heb. refrain from words? 3Behold, thou hast instructed many, and thou hast strengthened the weak hands. 4Thy words have upholden him that was falling, and thou hast strengthened the feeble knees. 5But now it is come upon thee, and thou faintest; it toucheth thee, and thou art troubled. 6Is not this thy fear, thy confidence, thy hope, and the uprightness of thy ways?
7Remember, I pray thee, who ever perished, being innocent? or where were the righteous cut off? 8Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same. 9By the blast of God they perish, and by the breath of his nostrils are they consumed.4.9 by the breath…: that is, by his anger 10The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, and the teeth of the young lions, are broken. 11The old lion perisheth for lack of prey, and the stout lion’s whelps are scattered abroad.

Naghambal si Elifaz
1Dayon nagsabat si Elifaz nga taga-Teman, 2“Maakig ka bala kon maghambal ako? Indi mahimo nga maghipos lang ako. 3Sadto anay madamo nga mga tawo ang gintudluan mo nga magsalig sa Dios. Ginpabakod mo ang mga tawo nga maluya. 4Ang imo mga pulong nakapalig-on sa nagakaluya kag nagakatumba. 5Pero karon nga ikaw naman ang nagaantos, nagakaluya ka kag nagakatublag. 6Indi bala nga kon nagatahod ka sa Dios kag matarong ang imo kabuhi, may pagsalig ka kag paglaom?
7“Karon, hunahunaa bala sing maayo. May tawo bala nga inosente ukon matarong nga nalaglag? 8Suno sa akon naobserbaran, ang nagahimo sang kalautan kag kagamo, kalautan kag kagamo man ang iya dangatan. 9Nagakalaglag sila sa isa lang ka huyop sang Dios. Sa iya kaakig, nagakapukan sila. 10Bisan pareho pa sila sa isa ka makusog kag mabangis nga leon, bingawon gihapon sang Dios ang ila mga ngipon. 11Magakalamatay sila tungod sa gutom, kag ang ila mga anak magalalapta.
12“May ginsugid sa akon sa sekreto. Ginhutik ini sa akon 13sa damgo sang isa ka gab-i samtang nagatulog sing mahamuok ang mga tawo. 14Hinadlukan ako kag nagkurog ang bug-os ko nga lawas. 15May espiritu nga naglabay4:15 May espiritu nga naglabay: ukon, Naghuyop ang hangin. sa akon guya kag nagpalanindog ang akon mga balahibo. 16Pagkauntat sini, may nakita dayon ako nga daw sa may nagatindog, pero indi ini klaro sa akon. Dayon may nabatian ako nga mahinay nga tingog nga nagasiling, 17‘May tawo bala nga matarong sa atubangan sang Dios? May tawo bala nga matinlo sa atubangan sang iya Manunuga? 18Kon wala gani nagasalig ang Dios sa mga anghel nga iya mga alagad, kag makakita siya sang sayop sa ila, 19ano pa ayhan sa mga tawo nga hinimo lang halin sa duta, nga madali lang dugmukon pareho sa sapat-sapat! 20Buhi sila sa aga, pero pagkagab-i patay na. Indi na sila makita hasta san-o. 21Daw sa mga tolda sila nga narumpag. Napatay sila nga kulang sing kaalam.’
