1Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD. 2Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD. 3And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase. 4And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the LORD.
5¶ Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. 6In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.23.6 THE LORD…: Heb. Jehovah-tsidkenu 7Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that they shall no more say, The LORD liveth, which brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt; 8But, The LORD liveth, which brought up and which led the seed of the house of Israel out of the north country, and from all countries whither I had driven them; and they shall dwell in their own land.
9¶ Mine heart within me is broken because of the prophets; all my bones shake; I am like a drunken man, and like a man whom wine hath overcome, because of the LORD, and because of the words of his holiness. 10For the land is full of adulterers; for because of swearing the land mourneth; the pleasant places of the wilderness are dried up, and their course is evil, and their force is not right.23.10 swearing: or, cursing23.10 course: or, violence 11For both prophet and priest are profane; yea, in my house have I found their wickedness, saith the LORD. 12Wherefore their way shall be unto them as slippery ways in the darkness: they shall be driven on, and fall therein: for I will bring evil upon them, even the year of their visitation, saith the LORD. 13And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria; they prophesied in Baal, and caused my people Israel to err.23.13 folly: or, an absurd thing: Heb. unsavoury 14I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness: they are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.23.14 an…: or, filthiness 15Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts concerning the prophets; Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall: for from the prophets of Jerusalem is profaneness gone forth into all the land.23.15 profaneness: or, hypocrisy 16Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the LORD. 17They say still unto them that despise me, The LORD hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you.23.17 imagination: or, stubbornness 18For who hath stood in the counsel of the LORD, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word, and heard it?23.18 counsel: or, secret 19Behold, a whirlwind of the LORD is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked. 20The anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly. 21I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied. 22But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings. 23Am I a God at hand, saith the LORD, and not a God afar off? 24Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD. 25I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed. 26How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart; 27Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal. 28The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the LORD.23.28 that hath a dream: Heb. with whom is, etc 29Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces? 30Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that steal my words every one from his neighbour. 31Behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that use their tongues, and say, He saith.23.31 that…: or, that smooth their tongues 32Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the LORD, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the LORD.
33¶ And when this people, or the prophet, or a priest, shall ask thee, saying, What is the burden of the LORD? thou shalt then say unto them, What burden? I will even forsake you, saith the LORD. 34And as for the prophet, and the priest, and the people, that shall say, The burden of the LORD, I will even punish that man and his house.23.34 punish: Heb. visit upon 35Thus shall ye say every one to his neighbour, and every one to his brother, What hath the LORD answered? and, What hath the LORD spoken? 36And the burden of the LORD shall ye mention no more: for every man’s word shall be his burden; for ye have perverted the words of the living God, of the LORD of hosts our God. 37Thus shalt thou say to the prophet, What hath the LORD answered thee? and, What hath the LORD spoken? 38But since ye say, The burden of the LORD; therefore thus saith the LORD; Because ye say this word, The burden of the LORD, and I have sent unto you, saying, Ye shall not say, The burden of the LORD; 39Therefore, behold, I, even I, will utterly forget you, and I will forsake you, and the city that I gave you and your fathers, and cast you out of my presence: 40And I will bring an everlasting reproach upon you, and a perpetual shame, which shall not be forgotten.
Ang Paglaom sa Umaabot
1-2Miingon ang Ginoo, ang Dios sa Israel, “Alaot kamong mga pangulo sa akong katawhan! Sama unta kamo sa mga magbalantay sa karnero nga moatiman sa akong katawhan, apan gipasagdan ninyo sila nga mamatay ug magkatibulaag. Busa tungod kay gipatibulaag ninyo ang akong katawhan ug wala ninyo sila atimana, silotan ko kamo sa daotan ninyong gihimo. 3Ako mismo ang motigom sa mga nahibilin kong katawhan gikan sa mga dapit diin ko sila gipatibulaag, ug dad-on ko sila balik sa ilang yuta, ug didto modaghan gayod sila ug magmauswagon. 4Hatagan ko silag mga pangulo nga moatiman kanila, ug dili na sila mahadlok o malisang, ug wala nay mawala kanila. Ako, ang Ginoo, ang nagaingon niini.”
5Miingon pa ang Ginoo, “Moabot ang panahon nga paharion ko ang usa ka matarong nga hari nga kaliwat ni David. Magahari siya nga may kaalam, ug patunhayon niya ang katarong ug hustisya niini nga yuta. 6Ug nianang panahona maluwas ang Juda ug makaangkon ug kalinaw ang Israel. Pagatawgon siya nga ‘Ginoo nga atong kaluwasan.23:6 kaluwasan: o, pagkamatarong.’
7“Ug nianang panahona ang mga tawo dili na manumpa nga magkanayon, ‘Manumpa ako sa buhing Ginoo nga nagpagawas sa mga Israelinhon gikan sa Ehipto.’ 8Kondili, moingon sila, ‘Manumpa ako sa buhing Ginoo nga nagpagawas sa mga kaliwat ni Israel sa nasod sa amihan ug sa tanang nasod diin niya sila gipatibulaag.’ Unya magpuyo sila sa ilang kaugalingong yuta.”
Ang Silot sa Bakakon nga mga Propeta
9Daw sa nadugmok ang akong kasingkasing tungod sa bakakon nga mga propeta. Nagpangurog ang akong kabukogan, ug nahisama ako sa hubog tungod sa balaan nga mensahe nga gilitok sa Ginoo batok kanila. 10Napuno gayod ang yuta sa mga tawong nagsimba sa mga dios-dios,23:10 nagsimba sa mga dios-dios: sa literal, nanapaw. kay ang mga propeta naghimo daotan ug nagaabuso sa ilang gahom. Tungod niini, gitunglo sa Ginoo ang yuta, busa nagmala kini ug nangalaya ang mga tanom. 11Kay mao kini ang giingon sa Ginoo: “Ang mga pari ug mga propeta managsama nga dili diosnon ug naghimo daotan bisan diha mismo sa akong templo. 12Busa mahimong danlog ug ngitngit ang ilang dalan. Magkapandol-pandol ug mangasukamod sila kay padad-an ko silag kalaglagan sa panahon nga silotan ko sila. Ako, ang Ginoo, ang nagaingon niini.
13“Nakita ko ang hilabihan nga kadaotan sa mga propeta sa Samaria; nanagna sila sa ngalan ni Baal ug gipahisalaag nila ang akong katawhan nga mga Israelinhon. 14Apan nakita ko nga mas daotan pa gayod ang mga propeta sa Jerusalem. Nagasimba sila sa laing mga dios ug nagapamakak pa gayod. Gidasig nila ang mga daotan sa pagpadayon sa paghimo ug daotan, busa wala nay namiya sa ilang pagkadaotan. Ang katawhan sa Jerusalem sama kadaotan sa katawhan sa Sodoma ug Gomora.
15“Busa ako, ang Ginoo nga Makagagahom, nagaingon bahin niini nga mga propeta: Pakan-on ko silag pait nga pagkaon ug paimnon ug tubig nga dunay hilo. Kay tungod kanila mikuyanap ang kadaotan sa tibuok yuta.”
16Miingon ang Ginoo nga Makagagahom sa katawhan sa Jerusalem, “Ayaw kamo paminaw sa gisulti niining bakakon nga mga propeta. Gipalaom nila kamo sa bakak. Nagahisgot silag mga panan-awon nga bunga lang sa ilang hunahuna ug dili gikan kanako. 17Mao kini ang kanunay nilang isulti ngadto sa mga tawong nagatamay sa akong mga pulong ug nagasunod sa ilang gahing kasingkasing: ‘Makaangkon kamog maayong kahimtang, ingon sa Ginoo. Walay daotang mahitabo kaninyo.’ 18Apan kinsa man niining maong mga propeta ang nasayod sa akong hunahuna? Kinsa man kanila ang nakadungog sa akong gipamulong? Wala kanilay mihatag ug pagtagad sa akong gisulti. 19Paminaw! Ang akong kasuko daw sa bagyo o buhawi nga mohapak sa ulo nianang mga tawong daotan. 20Dili gayod mahupay ang akong kasuko hangtod dili ko mahuman ang akong gustong buhaton. Nianang panahona masabtan ra ninyo kini pag-ayo. 21Wala ko gipadala kini nga mga propeta, apan nagdali sila sa paglakaw. Wala ako makigsulti kanila, apan nanagna sila. 22Apan kon nasayod pa sila kon unsay anaa sa akong hunahuna, gipamalita na unta nila ang akong mga pulong ngadto sa akong katawhan, ug gipabiya sa daotan nilang mga gawi ug mga binuhatan. 23Dios ako nga anaa bisan asa ug dili lang sa usa ka dapit. 24Walay tawo nga makatago sa sekretong dapit nga dili ko makita. Wala ba kamo masayod nga anaa ako bisan asa sa langit ug sa yuta? Ako, ang Ginoo, ang nagaingon niini.
25“Nadungog ko ang bakak nga gipanulti sa mga propeta sa akong ngalan. Nagaingon sila, ‘Gihatagan kami sa Ginoo ug mensahe pinaagi sa damgo!’ 26Hangtod kanus-a sila magsultig mga bakak nga bunga lang sa ilang mga malimbongon nga kasingkasing? 27Pinaagi sa ilang pagsugilon nianang ilang mga damgo, gitukmod nila ang akong katawhan sa paghikalimot kanako, maingon nga nalimot ang ilang mga katigulangan kanako pinaagi sa pagsimba kang Baal. 28Pasagdi kini nga mga propeta nga mosugilon sa ilang damgo. Apan kadtong mga propeta nga nakabati sa akong pulong, kinahanglang mosugilon niini nga matinud-anon. Kay lahi ang ilang damgo sa akong pulong, maingon nga ang dagami lahi sa trigo. 29Dili ba nga gamhanan man ang akong pulong? Sama kini sa kalayo nga makasunog ug sa martilyo nga makadugmok ug bato.
30“Busa ako, ang Ginoo, nagaingon nga kontra ko ang mga propeta nga manguha sa mensahe sa uban ra usab nga mga propeta ug unya moingon nga gikan kini kanako. 31Kontra ko usab ang mga propeta nga nagasugilon sa ilang kaugalingong mensahe ug unya moingon nga ako kuno ang nagsulti niini. 32Kontra ko ang mga propeta nga nagasugilon sa ilang mga damgo nga dili tinuod. Gipahisalaag nila ang akong katawhan sa ilang mga bakak. Wala ko gayod sila ipadala o sugoa. Wala gayod silay gihatag nga kaayohan sa katawhan.
33“Jeremias, kon mangutana kanimo kining mga tawhana, o ang mga propeta, o mga pari kon unsay akong mensahe, ingna sila nga isalikway ko sila. 34Kon may propeta o pari o si bisan kinsa nga moingon nga may mensahe kuno siya gikan kanako, silotan ko kanang tawhana ug ang iyang panimalay. 35Mas maayo pa nga mangutana ang usag usa kaninyo sa iyang mga higala ug mga paryente kon unsay akong mensahe, 36kaysa moingon siya, ‘May mensahe ako gikan sa Ginoo!’ Ayaw na kamo paggamit nianang mga pulonga kay ginagamit kana sa uban aron lang tuohan ang ilang gipanulti. Ug tungod niini natuis ang mga pulong sa buhi nga Dios, ang Ginoo nga Makagagahom.
37“Jeremias, pananglit mangutana ka sa usa ka propeta kon may mensahe ba siya gikan kanako 38unya moingon siya, ‘Oo, may mensahe ako gikan sa Ginoo,’ kinahanglan nga ingnon mo siya nga mao kini ang akong giingon: ‘Tungod kay nagaingon ka nga may mensahe ka gikan kanako, bisan gidid-an ko ikaw sa paglitok nianang mga pulonga, 39kalimtan ko ikaw sa dayon ug abugon sa akong presensya. Ug pasagdan ko kining siyudad nga gihatag ko sa inyong mga katigulangan. 40Pakaulawan ko gayod kamo sa walay kataposan, nga dili gayod makalimtan.’ ”
