1Now Pashur the son of Immer the priest, who was also chief governor in the house of the LORD, heard that Jeremiah prophesied these things. 2Then Pashur smote Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that were in the high gate of Benjamin, which was by the house of the LORD. 3And it came to pass on the morrow, that Pashur brought forth Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then said Jeremiah unto him, The LORD hath not called thy name Pashur, but Magor-missabib.20.3 Magor-missabib: that is, Fear round about 4For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will make thee a terror to thyself, and to all thy friends: and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and thine eyes shall behold it: and I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall carry them captive into Babylon, and shall slay them with the sword. 5Moreover I will deliver all the strength of this city, and all the labours thereof, and all the precious things thereof, and all the treasures of the kings of Judah will I give into the hand of their enemies, which shall spoil them, and take them, and carry them to Babylon. 6And thou, Pashur, and all that dwell in thine house shall go into captivity: and thou shalt come to Babylon, and there thou shalt die, and shalt be buried there, thou, and all thy friends, to whom thou hast prophesied lies.
7¶ O LORD, thou hast deceived me, and I was deceived: thou art stronger than I, and hast prevailed: I am in derision daily, every one mocketh me.20.7 was deceived: or, was enticed 8For since I spake, I cried out, I cried violence and spoil; because the word of the LORD was made a reproach unto me, and a derision, daily. 9Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.
10¶ For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side. Report, say they, and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting, saying, Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.20.10 All…: Heb. Every man of my peace 11But the LORD is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten. 12But, O LORD of hosts, that triest the righteous, and seest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I opened my cause. 13Sing unto the LORD, praise ye the LORD: for he hath delivered the soul of the poor from the hand of evildoers.
14¶ Cursed be the day wherein I was born: let not the day wherein my mother bare me be blessed. 15Cursed be the man who brought tidings to my father, saying, A man child is born unto thee; making him very glad. 16And let that man be as the cities which the LORD overthrew, and repented not: and let him hear the cry in the morning, and the shouting at noontide; 17Because he slew me not from the womb; or that my mother might have been my grave, and her womb to be always great with me. 18Wherefore came I forth out of the womb to see labour and sorrow, that my days should be consumed with shame?
Si Jeremias kag si Pashur
1Ang pari nga si Pashur, nga anak ni Imer, amo sadto ang pinakamataas nga opisyal sa templo sang Ginoo. Sang mabatian niya ang mga ginpanghambal ni Jeremias, 2ginpahanot niya siya kag ginpapriso didto sa puwertahan sang templo sang Ginoo nga ginatawag Puwertahan ni Benjamin. 3Pagkaaga, ginpaguwa ni Pashur si Jeremias. Nagsiling si Jeremias sa iya, “Pashur, gin-ilisan na sang Ginoo ang imo ngalan. Tawgon ka na subong nga Magor Misabib.20:3 Magor Misabib: buot silingon sa Hebreo, napalibutan sang kahadlok. 4Kay amo ini ang ginasiling sang Ginoo: Kahadlukan mo ang imo kahimtangan kag ang kahimtangan sang tanan mo nga abyan. Makita mo mismo sila nga pamatyon sang ila mga kaaway sa inaway. Itugyan ko ang bug-os nga Juda sa hari sang Babilonia. Ang iban nga mga pumuluyo sini iya pamatyon kag ang iban pagabihagon. 5Ipaagaw ko sa mga kaaway ang tanan nga manggad sang sini nga siyudad sang Jerusalem—ang tanan nila nga pinangabudlayan, ang tanan nga malahalon nga mga butang pati ang tanan nga manggad sang mga hari sang Juda. Dal-on ini tanan sang mga kaaway sa Babilonia. 6Kag pati ikaw, Pashur, kag ang bug-os mo nga panimalay, pagadal-on sa Babilonia. Didto ka mapatay kag ilubong, pati ang tanan mo nga abyan nga imo gintagnaan sing butig.”
Nagreklamo si Jeremias sa Dios
7O Ginoo, gindayaan kag gindaog mo ako. Nangin kaladlawan ako sa mga tawo, kag wala sing untat ang ila pagyaguta sa akon. 8Kon maghambal ako ginasinggit ko gid ang mensahi parte sa pagpamintas kag pagpanglaglag. Kag ining imo mensahi amo ang naghimo sa akon nga kaladlawan kag talamayon permi. 9Kon kaisa nagasiling ako nga indi na ako maghambal parte sa imo ukon magsugid sang imo mga mensahi. Pero indi ko mapunggan, kay ang imo pulong daw sa kalayo nga nagadabdab sa akon tagipusuon kag mga tul-an. Ginakapoy na ako sa pagpugong sini. 10Nabatian ko ang mga pagyaguta sang mga tawo. Ginasunod-sunod nila ang akon mga ginahambal nga, “Makahaladlok ang nagapalibot sa aton!” Nagasiling pa sila, “Isugid ta siya sa iya nga pagtraidor.” Bisan ang tanan ko nga abyan nagahulat sang akon pagkapukan. Nagasiling sila, “Basi kon madayaan siya. Dayon madaog naton siya kag mabalusan.”
11Pero kaupod ko ikaw, Ginoo. Pareho ka sa maisog nga soldado, gani ang mga nagahingabot sa akon malaglag kag indi magdaog. Mahuy-an gid sila kag indi magmadinalag-on, kag indi gid malimtan ang ila kahuy-anan hasta san-o. 12O Ginoo nga Makagagahom, nahibaluan mo kon sin-o ang matarong. Nahibaluan mo ang tagipusuon kag hunahuna sang tawo. Ipakita sa akon ang imo pagtimalos sa ila, kay gintugyan ko sa imo ang akon kaso.
13Magkanta kita kag magdayaw sa Ginoo! Kay ginaluwas niya ang mga bululigan sa kamot sang malaot nga mga tawo.
14Ginapakamalaot ko ang adlaw nga natawo ako! Wala ko ginapakamaayo ang adlaw nga ginbata ako sang akon iloy! 15Ginapakamalaot ko ang tawo nga nagbalita sa akon amay nga, “Lalaki ang imo anak!” nga nakapalipay gid sa akon amay. 16Kabay pa nga ina nga tawo mangin pareho sang mga banwa nga ginlaglag sang Ginoo nga wala sing luoy-luoy. Kabay pa nga mabatian niya ang mga singgit kag pag-ugayong sang mga tawo sa inaway sa bilog nga adlaw. 17Kay wala niya ako pagpatya sang ara pa ako sa tiyan sang akon iloy. Kuntani ang tiyan sang akon iloy amo na lang ang akon lulubngan, ukon ginbusong na lang niya kuntani ako hasta san-o. 18Ngaa nga natawo pa ako? Agod lang bala makita ko ang kagamo kag kalisod, kag mapatay ako sa kahuya?
