1Then he brought me forth into the utter court, the way toward the north: and he brought me into the chamber that was over against the separate place, and which was before the building toward the north. 2Before the length of an hundred cubits was the north door, and the breadth was fifty cubits. 3Over against the twenty cubits which were for the inner court, and over against the pavement which was for the utter court, was gallery against gallery in three stories. 4And before the chambers was a walk of ten cubits breadth inward, a way of one cubit; and their doors toward the north. 5Now the upper chambers were shorter: for the galleries were higher than these, than the lower, and than the middlemost of the building.42.5 were higher…: or, did eat of these42.5 than the lower…: or, and the building consisted of the lower and the middlemost 6For they were in three stories, but had not pillars as the pillars of the courts: therefore the building was straitened more than the lowest and the middlemost from the ground. 7And the wall that was without over against the chambers, toward the utter court on the forepart of the chambers, the length thereof was fifty cubits. 8For the length of the chambers that were in the utter court was fifty cubits: and, lo, before the temple were an hundred cubits. 9And from under these chambers was the entry on the east side, as one goeth into them from the utter court.42.9 from under: or, from the place42.9 the entry: or, he that brought me42.9 as…: or, as he came 10The chambers were in the thickness of the wall of the court toward the east, over against the separate place, and over against the building. 11And the way before them was like the appearance of the chambers which were toward the north, as long as they, and as broad as they: and all their goings out were both according to their fashions, and according to their doors. 12And according to the doors of the chambers that were toward the south was a door in the head of the way, even the way directly before the wall toward the east, as one entereth into them.
13¶ Then said he unto me, The north chambers and the south chambers, which are before the separate place, they be holy chambers, where the priests that approach unto the LORD shall eat the most holy things: there shall they lay the most holy things, and the meat offering, and the sin offering, and the trespass offering; for the place is holy. 14When the priests enter therein, then shall they not go out of the holy place into the utter court, but there they shall lay their garments wherein they minister; for they are holy; and shall put on other garments, and shall approach to those things which are for the people.
15Now when he had made an end of measuring the inner house, he brought me forth toward the gate whose prospect is toward the east, and measured it round about. 16He measured the east side with the measuring reed, five hundred reeds, with the measuring reed round about.42.16 side: Heb. wind 17He measured the north side, five hundred reeds, with the measuring reed round about. 18He measured the south side, five hundred reeds, with the measuring reed.
19¶ He turned about to the west side, and measured five hundred reeds with the measuring reed. 20He measured it by the four sides: it had a wall round about, five hundred reeds long, and five hundred broad, to make a separation between the sanctuary and the profane place.
Die Räume für die Priester
1Dann führte der Mann mich wieder in den äußeren Tempelvorhof. An dessen Nordseite befand sich ein weiterer Bau mit verschiedenen Räumen. Er war genauso lang wie das Gebäude, das hinter dem Tempel lag, und der unbebaute Streifen davor, 2nämlich 50 Meter. Seine Breite betrug 25 Meter. Von der nördlichen Längsseite her konnte man den Bau betreten.
3Mit seiner Südwand grenzte der Bau an das Gebäude auf der Rückseite des Tempels und den unbebauten Platz davor. Seine Nordseite lag quer zu dem Pflaster, das entlang der Mauer des äußeren Vorhofs verlief.
Der Bau hatte drei Stockwerke, die terrassenartig angelegt waren. 4An der Nordseite verlief ein 5 Meter breiter Gang; dort befanden sich auch die Eingänge des Gebäudes. Ein weiterer Gang führte bis in den inneren Vorhof, dieser maß 0,5 Meter in der Breite42,4 Oder nach der griechischen Übersetzung: 50 Meter in der Länge.. 5-6Weil der Bau terrassenförmig angelegt war, trat mit jedem höhergelegenen Stockwerk die Außenmauer mehr zurück. Daher wurden die Kammern von unten nach oben immer kleiner. Es gab in diesem Bau keine Säulen wie in den anderen Gebäuden des Tempelvorhofs.
7-8Der Gang an der Nordseite war zur Hälfte durch eine Mauer abgegrenzt, die 25 Meter in den äußeren Vorhof hineinragte. Die restlichen 25 Meter des Ganges verliefen an einer Kammer entlang, die an der Mauer des äußeren Tempelvorhofs lag. Insgesamt war der Gang durch 50 Meter Mauerwerk abgeschirmt. 9So gelangte man von Osten her in das untere Stockwerk des Gebäudes, wenn man vom äußeren Vorhof kam.

Der hebräische Text lautet: An der Ostseite. des Gebäudes hinter dem Tempel lag ebenfalls ein Bau, der an die Mauer des äußeren Tempelvorhofs grenzte. Er war genauso lang wie das Gebäude und der unbebaute Streifen davor. 11Auch hier gab es zwei Gänge. Die Kammern sahen genau gleich aus wie die im Bau auf der Nordseite, sie hatten die gleichen Maße und genauso viele Eingänge, 12die nun aber nach Süden hin lagen. Auch hier gelangte man – entlang der Schutzmauer – von Osten in das Gebäude, wenn man vom äußeren Vorhof kam.
13Der Mann sagte zu mir: »Diese beiden Bauten, die nördlich und südlich an den freien Raum und das Gebäude hinter dem Tempel grenzen, sind Gott geweiht. In ihren Räumen sollen die Priester, die dem Herrn in seinem Tempel dienen, von denjenigen Opfergaben essen, die als besonders heilig gelten. Dorthin sollen auch die Speiseopfer, die Sünd- und Schuldopfer gebracht werden, denn es ist ein heiliger Ort. 14Wenn die Priester ihren Dienst im Heiligtum verrichtet haben, dürfen sie nicht sofort wieder zu den Menschen im äußeren Vorhof hinausgehen. Vorher müssen sie ihre heiligen Gewänder, die sie im Tempel getragen haben, in diesen Räumen ablegen und andere Kleider anziehen. Erst dann können sie zu den Leuten hinausgehen.«
15Nachdem der Mann den ganzen inneren Tempelbezirk ausgemessen hatte, führte er mich durch das Osttor wieder hinaus und nahm Maß von der Außenmauer. 16-20Mit der Messlatte bestimmte er die Länge aller vier Seiten. Er begann an der Ostseite, dann ging er zur Nordseite, zur Südseite und Westseite. Alle vier hatten jeweils eine Länge von 250 Metern. Die Mauer lief um den gesamten Tempelbezirk herum, um den heiligen Bereich vom übrigen Land zu trennen.
