1Moreover the spirit lifted me up, and brought me unto the east gate of the LORD’s house, which looketh eastward: and behold at the door of the gate five and twenty men; among whom I saw Jaazaniah the son of Azur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, princes of the people. 2Then said he unto me, Son of man, these are the men that devise mischief, and give wicked counsel in this city: 3Which say, It is not near; let us build houses: this city is the caldron, and we be the flesh.11.3 It is…: or, It is not for us to build houses near
4¶ Therefore prophesy against them, prophesy, O son of man. 5And the Spirit of the LORD fell upon me, and said unto me, Speak; Thus saith the LORD; Thus have ye said, O house of Israel: for I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them. 6Ye have multiplied your slain in this city, and ye have filled the streets thereof with the slain. 7Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Your slain whom ye have laid in the midst of it, they are the flesh, and this city is the caldron: but I will bring you forth out of the midst of it. 8Ye have feared the sword; and I will bring a sword upon you, saith the Lord GOD. 9And I will bring you out of the midst thereof, and deliver you into the hands of strangers, and will execute judgments among you. 10Ye shall fall by the sword; I will judge you in the border of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the LORD. 11This city shall not be your caldron, neither shall ye be the flesh in the midst thereof; but I will judge you in the border of Israel: 12And ye shall know that I am the LORD: for ye have not walked in my statutes, neither executed my judgments, but have done after the manners of the heathen that are round about you.11.12 for ye…: or, which have not walked
13¶ And it came to pass, when I prophesied, that Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died. Then fell I down upon my face, and cried with a loud voice, and said, Ah Lord GOD! wilt thou make a full end of the remnant of Israel?
14Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 15Son of man, thy brethren, even thy brethren, the men of thy kindred, and all the house of Israel wholly, are they unto whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, Get you far from the LORD: unto us is this land given in possession. 16Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Although I have cast them far off among the heathen, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them as a little sanctuary in the countries where they shall come. 17Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel. 18And they shall come thither, and they shall take away all the detestable things thereof and all the abominations thereof from thence. 19And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh: 20That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God. 21But as for them whose heart walketh after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompense their way upon their own heads, saith the Lord GOD.
22¶ Then did the cherubims lift up their wings, and the wheels beside them; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above. 23And the glory of the LORD went up from the midst of the city, and stood upon the mountain which is on the east side of the city.
24¶ Afterwards the spirit took me up, and brought me in a vision by the Spirit of God into Chaldea, to them of the captivity. So the vision that I had seen went up from me. 25Then I spake unto them of the captivity all the things that the LORD had shewed me.
Judecată asupra conducătorilor lui Israel
1Apoi Duhul m‑a ridicat și m‑a dus la poarta de est a Casei Domnului, care era înspre răsărit. Și iată că la intrarea porții erau douăzeci și cinci de bărbați; printre ei i‑am văzut pe Iaazania, fiul lui Azur, și pe Pelatia, fiul lui Benaia, conducătorii poporului. 2Domnul mi‑a zis: „Fiul omului, aceștia sunt oamenii care plănuiesc nelegiuirea și dau sfaturi rele în cetatea aceasta. 3Ei zic: «Nu va fi oare în curând vremea potrivită pentru a zidi case?3 Sau: Nu este încă vremea potrivită pentru a zidi case! Sau, în context: Nu vom avea nevoie prea repede să zidim case, probabil în ideea că, având autoritate, pot obține orice casă doresc (vezi Mica 2:1-2). Cetatea este cazanul, iar noi suntem carnea!» 4De aceea profețește‑le, profețește, fiul omului!“
5Duhul Domnului a venit peste mine și mi‑a zis: „Spune: «Așa vorbește Domnul: ‘Voi, cei din Casa lui Israel, ziceți astfel, dar Eu vă cunosc gândurile. 6V‑ați înmulțit crimele în cetatea aceasta și i‑ați umplut străzile cu cei înjunghiați!’
7De aceea, așa vorbește Stăpânul Domn: ‘Morții pe care i‑ați întins în mijlocul cetății acesteia sunt carnea, iar cetatea este cazanul. Cât despre voi, vă voi scoate din mijlocul cetății. 8Vă temeți de sabie, dar sabie voi aduce peste voi, zice Stăpânul Domn. 9Vă voi scoate din mijlocul cetății, vă voi da pe mâna străinilor și Îmi voi împlini judecățile împotriva voastră. 10Veți cădea uciși de sabie, vă voi judeca la hotarul lui Israel și veți ști atunci că Eu sunt Domnul. 11Cetatea aceasta nu va fi cazanul vostru, iar voi nu veți fi carnea în mijlocul lui, ci vă voi judeca la hotarul lui Israel. 12Veți ști astfel că Eu sunt Domnul, ale Cărui hotărâri nu le‑ați urmat și ale Cărui judecăți nu le‑ați împlinit, ci ați făcut după judecățile neamurilor care sunt în jurul vostru.’»“
13În timp ce profețeam, Pelatia, fiul lui Benaia, a murit.
Atunci m‑am aruncat cu fața la pământ și am strigat cu glas tare, zicând:
– Ah, Stăpâne Doamne, vei face Tu să piară de tot chiar și rămășița lui Israel?
Promisiunea restaurării rămășiței
14Cuvântul Domnului mi‑a vorbit, zicând:
15– Fiul omului, frații tăi, frații tăi dintre rudele tale și toată Casa lui Israel din exil, toți aceștia sunt cei despre care locuitorii Ierusalimului zic: „S‑au îndepărtat de Domnul! Nouă ne‑a fost dată țara aceasta în stăpânire!“
16De aceea spune: „Așa vorbește Stăpânul Domn: «Deși i‑am dus departe printre neamuri și i‑am împrăștiat în țări străine, totuși le‑am fost prea puțin un Lăcaș Sfânt în țările în care au mers.»“
17De aceea să le spui: „Așa vorbește Stăpânul Domn: «Vă voi strânge dintre popoare, vă voi aduna din țările în care ați fost împrăștiați și vă voi da țara lui Israel.»
18Când vor sosi în ea, vor îndepărta de acolo toate spurcăciunile și toate urâciunile. 19Le voi da o inimă neîmpărțită și voi pune în ei un duh nou. Voi lua inima de piatră din trupul lor și le voi da o inimă de carne, 20ca astfel să urmeze hotărârile Mele, și totodată să păzească și să împlinească rânduielile Mele. Vor fi poporul Meu, iar Eu voi fi Dumnezeul lor. 21Cât despre aceia a căror inimă umblă după spurcăciunile și urâciunile lor, le voi răsplăti după căile lor, zice Stăpânul Domn.“
22După aceea, heruvimii și‑au ridicat aripile, însoțiți fiind de roțile care erau în apropierea lor; slava Dumnezeului lui Israel era deasupra lor. 23Slava Domnului s‑a ridicat din mijlocul cetății și s‑a oprit pe muntele de la răsăritul cetății. 24Duhul m‑a luat și m‑a dus într‑o vedenie, prin Duhul lui Dumnezeu, la exilații din Caldeea24 Babilonia [peste tot în carte]..
După ce a plecat de la mine vedenia pe care o văzusem, 25am istorisit exilaților toate cuvintele Domnului, pe care El mi le arătase.
