2 Samuel 1:1-27

1Now it came to pass after the death of Saul, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites, and David had abode two days in Ziklag; 2It came even to pass on the third day, that, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes rent, and earth upon his head: and so it was, when he came to David, that he fell to the earth, and did obeisance. 3And David said unto him, From whence comest thou? And he said unto him, Out of the camp of Israel am I escaped. 4And David said unto him, How went the matter? I pray thee, tell me. And he answered, That the people are fled from the battle, and many of the people also are fallen and dead; and Saul and Jonathan his son are dead also.1.4 How…: Heb. What was, etc 5And David said unto the young man that told him, How knowest thou that Saul and Jonathan his son be dead? 6And the young man that told him said, As I happened by chance upon mount Gilboa, behold, Saul leaned upon his spear; and, lo, the chariots and horsemen followed hard after him. 7And when he looked behind him, he saw me, and called unto me. 11Then David took hold on his clothes, and rent them; and likewise all the men that were with him: 12And they mourned, and wept, and fasted until even, for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of the LORD, and for the house of Israel; because they were fallen by the sword.

13¶ And David said unto the young man that told him, Whence art thou? And he answered, I am the son of a stranger, an Amalekite. 14And David said unto him, How wast thou not afraid to stretch forth thine hand to destroy the LORD’s anointed? 15And David called one of the young men, and said, Go near, and fall upon him. And he smote him that he died. 16And David said unto him, Thy blood be upon thy head; for thy mouth hath testified against thee, saying, I have slain the LORD’s anointed.

17¶ And David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son: 18(Also he bade them teach the children of Judah the use of the bow: behold, it is written in the book of Jasher.)1.18 of Jasher: or, of the upright 19The beauty of Israel is slain upon thy high places: how are the mighty fallen! 20Tell it not in Gath, publish it not in the streets of Askelon; lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph. 21Ye mountains of Gilboa, let there be no dew, neither let there be rain, upon you, nor fields of offerings: for there the shield of the mighty is vilely cast away, the shield of Saul, as though he had not been anointed with oil. 22From the blood of the slain, from the fat of the mighty, the bow of Jonathan turned not back, and the sword of Saul returned not empty. 23Saul and Jonathan were lovely and pleasant in their lives, and in their death they were not divided: they were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions.1.23 pleasant: or, sweet 24Ye daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, who clothed you in scarlet, with other delights, who put on ornaments of gold upon your apparel. 25How are the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle! O Jonathan, thou wast slain in thine high places. 26I am distressed for thee, my brother Jonathan: very pleasant hast thou been unto me: thy love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women. 27How are the mighty fallen, and the weapons of war perished!

2 ሳሙኤል 1:1-27

ዳዊት የሳኦልን ሞት ሰማ

1፥4-12 ተጓ ምብ – 1ሳሙ 31፥1-131ዜና 10፥1-12

1ሳኦል ከሞተ በኋላ፣ ዳዊት አማሌቃውያንን ድል አድርጎ በመመለስ፣ በጺቅላግ ሁለት ቀን ቈየ። 2በሦስተኛውም ቀን የተቀደደ ልብስ የለበሰ፣ በራሱም ላይ ትቢያ የነሰነሰ አንድ ሰው ከሳኦል ሰፈር መጣ። ወደ ዳዊት እንደ ደረሰም፣ ወደ መሬት ለጥ ብሎ በአክብሮት እጅ ነሣ።

3ዳዊትም፣ “ከወዴት መጣህ?” ሲል ጠየቀው።

እርሱም፣ “ከእስራኤላውያን ሰፈር ሸሽቼ መምጣቴ ነው” በማለት መለሰለት።

4ዳዊትም፣ “ምን ነገር ተፈጠረ?” ሲል ጠየቀው።

እርሱም፣ “ሰዎቹ ከጦርነቱ ሸሽተዋል፤ ብዙዎቹ ወድቀዋል፤ ሞተዋል፤ ሳኦልና ልጁ ዮናታንም ሞተዋል” አለ።

5ከዚያም ዳዊት ወሬውን የነገረውን ወጣት፣ “ሳኦልና ልጁ ዮናታን መሞታቸውን እንዴት ዐወቅህ?” ሲል ጠየቀው።

6ወሬ ነጋሪው ወጣትም እንዲህ አለ፤ “ድንገት ወደ ጊልቦዓ ተራራ ወጥቼ ነበር፤ እዚያም ሳኦል ጦሩን ተደግፎ ሳለ፣ ሠረገሎችና ፈረሰኞች ተከታትለው ደረሱበት። 7ወደ ኋላውም ዞር ሲል እኔን ስላየ ጠራኝ፤ እኔም፣ ‘ምን ልታዘዝ’ አልሁ።

8“እርሱም፣ ‘አንተ ማን ነህ?’ ሲል ጠየቀኝ፤

“እኔም ‘አማሌቃዊ ነኝ’ ብዬ መለስሁለት።

9“ከዚያም፣ ‘እኔ በሞት ጣር ውስጥ እገኛለሁ፤ ነፍሴ ግን አልወጣችም፤ እባክህ በላዬ ቆመህ ግደለኝ’ አለኝ።

10“መቼም ከወደቀ በኋላ እንደማይተርፍ ስላወቅሁ፣ በላዩ ቆሜ ገደልሁት፤ በራሱ ላይ የነበረውን ዘውድና የክንዱን አንባር ወስጄ እነሆ፤ ለጌታዬ አምጥቻለሁ።”

11ከዚያም ዳዊትና አብረውት የነበሩት ሰዎች ሁሉ ልብሳቸውን ቀደዱ። 12ለሳኦልና ለልጁ ለዮናታን፣ ለእግዚአብሔር ሰራዊትና ለእስራኤል ቤት ዐዘኑ፤ አለቀሱ፤ እስከ ማታም ድረስ ጾሙ፤ የወደቁት በሰይፍ ነበርና።

13ዳዊትም ወሬውን ያመጣለትን ወጣት፣ “ከየት ነው የመጣኸው?” ብሎ ጠየቀው።

እርሱም፣ “እኔ የአንድ መጻተኛ አማሌቃዊ ልጅ ነኝ” ብሎ መለሰ።

14ዳዊትም፣ “ታዲያ እግዚአብሔር የቀባውን ለማጥፋት እጅህን ስታነሣ እንዴት አልፈራህም?” ሲል ጠየቀው።

15ዳዊትም ከጕልማሶቹ አንዱን ጠርቶ፣ “በል ቅረብና ውደቅበት” አለው። እርሱም መታው፤ ሞተም። 16ዳዊትም፣ “ ‘እግዚአብሔር የቀባውን ገድያለሁ’ ስትል የገዛ አፍህ መስክሮብሃልና፣ ደምህ በራስህ ላይ ይሁን” አለው።

ዳዊት ለሳኦልና ለዮናታን የተቀኘው የሐዘን እንጕርጕሮ

17ዳዊትም በሳኦልና በልጁ በዮናታን ሞት ምክንያት ይህን የሐዘን እንጕርጕሮ እየተቀኘ አለቀሰ፤ 18እንዲሁም የቀስት እንጕርጕሮ የተባለውን ለይሁዳ ሕዝብ እንዲያስተምሩ አዘዘ፤ ይህም በያሻር መጽሐፍ ተጽፏል።

19“እስራኤል ሆይ፤ ክብርህ በኰረብቶችህ ላይ ተወግቶ ሞቷል፤

ኀያላኑ እንዴት እንደዚህ ይውደቁ!

20“ይህን በጌት አትናገሩ፤

በአስቀሎናም መንገዶች አታውጁት፤

የፍልስጥኤም ቈነጃጅት አይደሰቱ፤

ያልተገረዙት ሴቶች ልጆች እልል አይበሉ።

21“እናንተ የጊልቦዓ ተራሮች ሆይ፤

ጠል አያረስርሳችሁ፤

ዝናብም አይውረድባችሁ፤

የቍርባን እህል የሚያበቅሉም ዕርሻዎች አይኑራቸው፤

በዚያ የኀያሉ ሰው ጋሻ ረክሷልና፤ የሳኦል ጋሻ ከእንግዲህ በዘይት አይወለወልም።

22“ከሞቱት ሰዎች ደም፣

ከኀያላኑም ሥብ፣

የዮናታን ቀስት ተመልሳ አልመጣችም፤

የሳኦልም ሰይፍ በከንቱ አልተመለሰችም።

23ሳኦልና ዮናታን በሕይወት እያሉ፣

የሚዋደዱና የሚስማሙ ነበሩ፤

ሲሞቱም አልተለያዩም፤

ከንስርም ይልቅ ፈጣኖች፣

ከአንበሳም ይልቅ ብርቱዎች ነበሩ።

24“እናንት የእስራኤል ቈነጃጅት ሆይ፤

ሐምራዊ ቀሚስና ቀጭን ፈትል ላለበሳችሁ፣

ልብሶቻችሁንም በወርቀ ዘቦ ላስጌጠላችሁ፣

ለሳኦል አልቅሱለት።

25“ኀያላን እንዴት እንዲህ በጦርነት ወደቁ!

ዮናታን በኰረብቶችህ ላይ ተወግቶ ሞቷል።

26ወንድሜ ዮናታን ሆይ፤ እኔ ስለ አንተ ዐዘንሁ፤

አንተ ለእኔ እጅግ ውድ ነበርህ፤

ፍቅርህ ለእኔ ድንቅ ነበረ፤

ከሴት ፍቅርም ይልቅ ግሩም ነበር።

27“ኀያላኑ እንዴት ወደቁ!

የጦር መሣሪያዎቹስ እንዴት ከንቱ ይሁኑ!”
