1And Solomon determined to build an house for the name of the LORD, and an house for his kingdom. 2And Solomon told out threescore and ten thousand men to bear burdens, and fourscore thousand to hew in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred to oversee them.
3¶ And Solomon sent to Huram the king of Tyre, saying, As thou didst deal with David my father, and didst send him cedars to build him an house to dwell therein, even so deal with me.2.3 Huram: or, Hiram 4Behold, I build an house to the name of the LORD my God, to dedicate it to him, and to burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual shewbread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of the LORD our God. 11¶ Then Huram the king of Tyre answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon, Because the LORD hath loved his people, he hath made thee king over them. 12Huram said moreover, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who hath given to David the king a wise son, endued with prudence and understanding, that might build an house for the LORD, and an house for his kingdom.2.12 endued…: Heb. knowing prudence and understanding 13And now I have sent a cunning man, endued with understanding, of Huram my father’s, 14The son of a woman of the daughters of Dan, and his father was a man of Tyre, skilful to work in gold, and in silver, in brass, in iron, in stone, and in timber, in purple, in blue, and in fine linen, and in crimson; also to grave any manner of graving, and to find out every device which shall be put to him, with thy cunning men, and with the cunning men of my lord David thy father. 15Now therefore the wheat, and the barley, the oil, and the wine, which my lord hath spoken of, let him send unto his servants: 16And we will cut wood out of Lebanon, as much as thou shalt need: and we will bring it to thee in floats by sea to Joppa; and thou shalt carry it up to Jerusalem.2.16 as much…: Heb according to all thy need2.16 Joppa: Heb. 17¶ And Solomon numbered all the strangers that were in the land of Israel, after the numbering wherewith David his father had numbered them; and they were found an hundred and fifty thousand and three thousand and six hundred.2.17 the strangers: Heb. the men the strangers 18And he set threescore and ten thousand of them to be bearers of burdens, and fourscore thousand to be hewers in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred overseers to set the people a work.

1И заповеди Соломон да се сазида Дом за Господње име и царски двор за њега. 2И окупи Соломон у брдима седамдесет хиљада носача, осамдесет хиљада клесара и три хиљаде шест стотина надгледника за све њих.
3Поручио је Хираму, тирском цару:
„Ти си мом оцу, Давиду, слао кедар да себи изгради дом и пребива у њему. 4Хоћу да изградим Дом за Господа, Бога мог, да га посветим, да се у њему кади тамјаном и стално приносе хлеб и свеспалнице ујутро и увече, суботом и кад су младине Господу Богу и одређени празници, као заповест Израиљу довека.
5А Дом који ћу да градим биће велики јер је велик наш Бог, већи од свих богова. 6И ко може да му сазида Дом кад ни највиша небеса не могу да га обухвате? И ко сам ја да му сазидам Дом, осим да кадим пред њим?
7Зато ми пошаљи човека, вештог златара, сребрнара, ковача, који уме да ради са бронзом, са скерлетом, гримизом и порфиром, који уме да резбари. Радиће са вештим људима који су са мном, а које је мој отац, Давид, већ припремио у Јерусалиму и у Јуди.
8Пошаљи ми кедровине, чемпресовине и сандаловине са Ливана. Знам да твоје слуге умеју вешто да их секу на Ливану, па ће радити заједно са мојим слугама, 9да ми спреме обиље грађе за велики и предиван Дом који желим да градим. 10Знај да ћу дрвосечама, твојим људима, дати двадесет хиљада кора2,10 Око 440 hl. овршене пшенице и исто толико јечма, као и двадесет хиљада вата2,10 Око 440 hl. вина и уља.“
11И одговори писмом Хирам, цар Тира, Соломону:
„Господ воли свој народ и зато те је поставио за цара над њима.“
12Још је написао:
„Нека је благословен Господ, Бог Израиљев, који створи небеса и земљу, и који даде Давиду мудрог и умешног сина, да зида Дом Господњи и двор за себе.
13Ево ти шаљем мудрог и вештог човека, мајстора Хирама-Авија. 14Мајка му је из Дановог племена а отац из Тира. Зна да ради са златом, сребром, бронзом, гвожђем, с каменом и дрветом, са скерлетом, гримизом, ланом и порфиром. Може да резбари шта год му се каже, заједно са твојим мајсторима и са вештим људима твог оца Давида, мог господара.
15Зато нека мој господар, како је казао, својим слугама пошаље жито, јечам, уље и вино. 16А ми ћемо исећи стабла са Ливана, према твојим потребама и довешћемо их сплавовима, морем до Јопе. Ти их онда пренеси у Јерусалим.“
17Соломон је пописао све придошлице у израиљској земљи након пописа његовог оца Давида. Било их је стотину педесет три хиљаде шест стотина. 18Њих седамдесет хиљада је одредио за ношење, осамдесет хиљада за клесање камена у брдима а три хиљаде шест стотина за надгледнике тих послова.
