11¶ Wherefore Nathan spake unto Bath-sheba the mother of Solomon, saying, Hast thou not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith doth reign, and David our lord knoweth it not? 12Now therefore come, let me, I pray thee, give thee counsel, that thou mayest save thine own life, and the life of thy son Solomon. 13Go and get thee in unto king David, and say unto him, Didst not thou, my lord, O king, swear unto thine handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne? why then doth Adonijah reign? 14Behold, while thou yet talkest there with the king, I also will come in after thee, and confirm thy words.1.14 confirm: Heb. fill up
15¶ And Bath-sheba went in unto the king into the chamber: and the king was very old; and Abishag the Shunammite ministered unto the king. 16And Bath-sheba bowed, and did obeisance unto the king. 22¶ And, lo, while she yet talked with the king, Nathan the prophet also came in. 23And they told the king, saying, Behold Nathan the prophet. And when he was come in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground. 24And Nathan said, My lord, O king, hast thou said, Adonijah shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne? 25For he is gone down this day, and hath slain oxen and fat cattle and sheep in abundance, and hath called all the king’s sons, and the captains of the host, and Abiathar the priest; and, behold, they eat and drink before him, and say, God save king Adonijah.1.25 God…: Heb. 28¶ Then king David answered and said, Call me Bath-sheba. 32¶ And king David said, Call me Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada. And they came before the king. 33The king also said unto them, Take with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride upon mine own mule, and bring him down to Gihon:1.33 mine…: Heb. which belongeth to me 34And let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israel: and blow ye with the trumpet, and say, God save king Solomon. 35Then ye shall come up after him, that he may come and sit upon my throne; for he shall be king in my stead: and I have appointed him to be ruler over Israel and over Judah. 36And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, and said, Amen: the LORD God of my lord the king say so too. 37As the LORD hath been with my lord the king, even so be he with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king David. 38So Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, went down, and caused Solomon to ride upon king David’s mule, and brought him to Gihon. 39And Zadok the priest took an horn of oil out of the tabernacle, and anointed Solomon. And they blew the trumpet; and all the people said, God save king Solomon. 40And all the people came up after him, and the people piped with pipes, and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth rent with the sound of them.1.40 pipes: or, flutes
41¶ And Adonijah and all the guests that were with him heard it as they had made an end of eating. And when Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, Wherefore is this noise of the city being in an uproar? 42And while he yet spake, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came: and Adonijah said unto him, Come in; for thou art a valiant man, and bringest good tidings. 43And Jonathan answered and said to Adonijah, Verily our lord king David hath made Solomon king. 44And the king hath sent with him Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, and they have caused him to ride upon the king’s mule: 45And Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king in Gihon: and they are come up from thence rejoicing, so that the city rang again. This is the noise that ye have heard. 46And also Solomon sitteth on the throne of the kingdom. 47And moreover the king’s servants came to bless our lord king David, saying, God make the name of Solomon better than thy name, and make his throne greater than thy throne. And the king bowed himself upon the bed. 48And also thus said the king, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which hath given one to sit on my throne this day, mine eyes even seeing it. 49And all the guests that were with Adonijah were afraid, and rose up, and went every man his way.
50¶ And Adonijah feared because of Solomon, and arose, and went, and caught hold on the horns of the altar. 51And it was told Solomon, saying, Behold, Adonijah feareth king Solomon: for, lo, he hath caught hold on the horns of the altar, saying, Let king Solomon swear unto me to day that he will not slay his servant with the sword. 52And Solomon said, If he will shew himself a worthy man, there shall not an hair of him fall to the earth: but if wickedness shall be found in him, he shall die. 53So king Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. And he came and bowed himself to king Solomon: and Solomon said unto him, Go to thine house.
داوود پادشاه در سن پيری
1داوود پادشاه بسيار پير شده بود و هر چند او را با لحاف میپوشاندند، ولی گرم نمیشد. 2درباريان به او گفتند: «علاج تو در اين است كه يک دختر جوان از تو پرستاری كند و در آغوشت بخوابد تا گرم بشوی.» 3-4پس در سراسر كشور اسرائيل گشتند تا زيباترين دختر را برای او پيدا كنند. سرانجام دختری بسيار زيبا به نام ابيشگ از اهالی شونم انتخاب شد. او را نزد پادشاه آوردند و او مشغول پرستاری از پادشاه شد، ولی پادشاه با او نزديكی نكرد.
ادونيا، مدعی تاج و تخت
5-6پس از مرگ ابشالوم، پسر بعدی پادشاه به نام ادونيا كه مادرش حجيت بود، به اين انديشه افتاد تا بر تخت سلطنت بنشيند. از اين رو عرابهها و عرابهرانان و يک گارد پنجاه نفره برای خود گرفت. ادونيا جوانی بود خوشاندام، و پدرش داوود پادشاه در تمام عمرش هرگز برای هيچ كاری او را سرزنش نكرده بود.
7ادونيا نقشهٔ خود را به اطلاع يوآب و ابياتار كاهن رساند و آنها نيز قول دادند از او حمايت كنند. 8اما صادوق كاهن، بنايا، ناتان نبی، شمعی، ريعی و گارد سلطنتی نسبت به داوود پادشاه وفادار ماندند و از ادونيا حمايت نكردند.
9يک روز ادونيا به عين روجل رفت و در محلی به نام «سنگ مار» مهمانی مفصلی ترتيب داد و گاوان و گوسفندان پرواری سر بريد. او پسران ديگر پادشاه و مقامات دربار را كه از يهودا بودند دعوت كرد تا در جشن شركت كنند. 10اما او ناتان نبی، بنايا، محافظان دربار و برادر ناتنی خود سليمان را به آن مهمانی دعوت نكرد.
سليمان پادشاه میشود
11پس ناتان نبی نزد بتشبع مادر سليمان رفت و به او گفت: «آيا میدانی كه ادونيا پسر حجيت، خود را پادشاه ناميده و پادشاه ما داوود از اين موضوع بیخبر است؟ 12اگر میخواهی جان خودت و پسرت سليمان را نجات بدهی، آنچه میگويم، بكن. 13پيش داوود پادشاه برو و به او بگو: ای پادشاه، مگر شما قول نداديد كه پسر من سليمان بعد از شما پادشاه بشود؟ پس چرا حالا ادونيا پادشاه شده است؟ 14همان وقت كه تو مشغول صحبت كردن با داوود هستی، من هم میآيم و حرف تو را تأييد میكنم.»
15پس بتشبع به اتاق پادشاه رفت. داوود پادشاه خيلی پير شده بود و ابيشگ از او پرستاری میكرد. 16بتشبع جلو رفت و تعظيم كرد. پادشاه پرسيد: «چه میخواهی؟»
17بتشبع جواب داد: «ای پادشاه، برای اين كنيزتان به خداوند، خدای خود قسم خورديد كه بعد از شما پسرم سليمان بر تختتان بنشيند؛ 18ولی حالا ادونيا به جای او پادشاه شده است و شما از اين موضوع بیخبريد. 19ادونيا جشن بزرگی گرفته و گاوان و گوسفندان زيادی سر بريده و تمام پسرانتان را با ابياتار كاهن و يوآب فرماندهٔ سپاهتان به اين جشن دعوت كرده اما پسرتان سليمان را دعوت نكرده است. 20حال ای پادشاه، تمام قوم اسرائيل منتظرند تا ببينند شما چه كسی را به جانشينی خود انتخاب میكنيد. 21اگر زودتر تصميم نگيريد، بعد از شما با من و پسرم سليمان مثل يک خيانتكار رفتار خواهند كرد.»
22-23وقتی بتشبع مشغول صحبت بود، به پادشاه خبر دادند كه ناتان نبی میخواهد به حضور پادشاه شرفياب شود. ناتان داخل شد و به پادشاه تعظيم كرد 24و گفت: «ای سرور من، آيا شما ادونيا را جانشين خود كردهايد تا بر تخت سلطنت بنشيند؟ 25چون امروز ادونيا جشن بزرگی بر پا كرده و گاوان و گوسفندان بسياری سر بريده و پسرانتان را با ابياتار كاهن و فرماندهان سپاهتان به اين جشن دعوت كرده است. هم اكنون ايشان میخورند و مینوشند و خوش میگذرانند و فرياد میزنند: زنده باد ادونيای پادشاه! 26اما من و صادوق كاهن و بنايا و سليمان به آن جشن دعوت نشدهايم! 27آيا اين كار با اطلاع پادشاه انجام گرفته است؟ پس چرا پادشاه به ما نگفتهاند كه چه كسی را به جانشينی خود برگزيدهاند؟»
28با شنيدن اين حرفها، پادشاه دستور داد بتشبع را احضار كنند. پس بتشبع به اتاق برگشت و در حضور پادشاه ايستاد.
29آنگاه پادشاه چنين گفت: «به خداوند زنده كه مرا از تمام خطرات نجات داده، قسم میخورم كه 30همانطور كه قبلاً در حضور خداوند، خدای اسرائيل برايت قسم خوردم، امروز كاری میكنم كه پسرت سليمان بعد از من پادشاه شود و بر تخت سلطنت من بنشيند!»
31آنگاه بتشبع در حضور پادشاه تعظيم كرد و گفت: «پادشاه هميشه زنده بماند!»
32سپس پادشاه گفت: «صادوق كاهن و ناتان نبی و بنايا را پيش من بياوريد.» وقتی آنها به حضور پادشاه شرفياب شدند، 33پادشاه به ايشان گفت: «همراه درباريان من، سليمان را به جيحون ببريد. او را بر قاطر مخصوص من سوار كنيد 34و صادوق كاهن و ناتان نبی وی را در آن شهر به عنوان پادشاه اسرائيل تدهين كنند. بعد شيپورها را به صدا درآوريد و با صدای بلند بگوييد: زنده باد سليمان پادشاه! 35سپس سليمان را همراه خود به اينجا برگردانيد و او را به نام پادشاه جديد بر تخت سلطنت من بنشانيد، چون من وی را رهبر قوم اسرائيل و يهودا تعيين كردهام.»
36بنايا جواب داد: «اطاعت میكنيم. خداوند، خدايت برای اين كار به ما توفيق دهد. 37همانطور كه خداوند با تو بوده است، با سليمان پادشاه هم باشد و سلطنت او را از سلطنت تو شكوهمندتر كند.»
38پس صادوق كاهن، ناتان نبی و بنايا با محافظان دربار، سليمان را بر قاطر داوود پادشاه سوار كردند و به جيحون بردند. 39در آنجا صادوق كاهن، ظرف روغن مقدس را كه از خيمهٔ عبادت آورده بود، گرفته و روغن آن را بر سر سليمان ريخته، او را تدهين نمود. بعد شيپورها را نواختند و تمام مردم فرياد برآوردند: «زنده باد سليمان پادشاه!» 40سپس همه با هم شادیكنان به اورشليم برگشتند. صدای ساز و آواز آنها چنان بلند بود كه زمين زير پايشان میلرزيد!
41ادونيا و مهمانانش به آخر جشن نزديک میشدند كه اين سر و صدا به گوششان رسيد. وقتی يوآب صدای شيپورها را شنيد پرسيد: «چه خبر است؟ اين چه غوغايی است كه در شهر بر پا شده؟»
42حرف او هنوز تمام نشده بود كه يوناتان پسر ابياتار كاهن از راه رسيد. ادونيا به او گفت: «داخل شو! تو جوان خوبی هستی و حتماً خبری خوش برايم آوردهای!»
43يوناتان گفت: «آقای ما داوود پادشاه، سليمان را جانشين خود كرده است! 44-45او سليمان را بر قاطر مخصوص خود سوار كرده، همراه صادوق كاهن، ناتان نبی، بنايا و گارد سلطنتی به جيحون فرستاده است. صادوق و ناتان، سليمان را به عنوان پادشاه جديد تدهين كردهاند! اينک آنها برگشتهاند و از اين جهت تمام شهر جشن گرفتهاند و شادی میكنند. اين هلهلهٔ شادی از خوشحالی مردم است! 46سليمان بر تخت سلطنت نشسته است 47و درباريان برای عرض تبريک نزد داوود پادشاه میروند و میگويند: خدای تو سليمان را مشهورتر از تو بگرداند و سلطنت او را بزرگتر و باشكوهتر از سلطنت تو بسازد؛ و داوود پادشاه نيز در بستر خود سجده كرده 48به دعاهای خير ايشان اينطور جواب میدهد: سپاس بر خداوند، خدای اسرائيل كه به من طول عمر داده است تا با چشمان خود ببينم كه خدا پسرم را برگزيده است تا بر تخت سلطنت من بنشيند و به جای من پادشاه شود!»
49ادونيا و مهمانان او وقتی اين خبر را شنيدند، ترسيدند و پا به فرار گذاشتند. 50ادونيا از ترس سليمان به خيمهٔ عبادت پناه برد و در پای قربانگاه بست نشست. 51به سليمان خبر دادند كه ادونيا از ترس او به عبادتگاه پناه برده و در آنجا بست نشسته و میگويد: «سليمان برای من قسم بخورد كه مرا نخواهد كشت.»
52سليمان گفت: «اگر ادونيا رفتار خود را عوض كند، با او كاری ندارم؛ در غير اين صورت سزای او مرگ است.»
53سپس سليمان كسی را فرستاد تا ادونيا را از عبادتگاه بيرون بياورد. ادونيا آمد و در حضور سليمان پادشاه تعظيم كرد. سليمان به او گفت: «میتوانی به خانهات برگردی!»
