O Livro

1 Crónicas 27:1-34

As divisões do exército

1O exército israelita estava dividido em doze regimentos, cada um com 24 000 militares, incluindo oficiais e corpo administrativo. Estas unidades eram chamadas ao serviço ativo um mês por ano. Esta é a lista das unidades e dos seus comandantes:

2-3o comandante da primeira divisão era Jasobeão, filho de Zabdiel, descendente de Perez; tinha sob o seu comando 24 000 militares que estavam em atividade no primeiro mês de cada ano;

4o comandante da segunda divisão era Dodai, descendente de Aoí; tinha sob o seu comando 24 000 homens; o seu serviço ativo era executado no segundo mês de cada ano; Miclote era o seu ajudante;

5o comandante da terceira divisão era Benaia, filho de Jeoiada; tinha sob o seu comando um exército de 24 000 homens, em serviço ativo no terceiro mês de cada ano; 6o comandante Benaia era filho de Jeoiada, o sumo sacerdote, chefe do grupo dos trinta oficiais de elite do exército de David; o seu filho Amizabade sucedeu-lhe no comando desta divisão;

7o comandante da quarta divisão era Asael, irmão de Joabe, que mais tarde foi substituído pelo seu filho Zebadias; tinha 24 000 soldados em serviço ativo no quarto mês;

8o comandante da quinta divisão era Samute, de Izra, com 24 000 homens no ativo durante o quinto mês;

9o comandante da sexta divisão era Ira, filho de Iques de Tecoa; tinha 24 000 militares no ativo durante o sexto mês;

10o comandante da sétima divisão era Helez, de Pelom em Efraim, com 24 000 homens em serviço ativo durante o sétimo mês;

11o comandante da oitava divisão era Sibecai, do clã Husate de Zera, que tinha 24 000 soldados em serviço no oitavo mês;

12o comandante da nona divisão era Abiezer, de Anatote, da tribo de Benjamim, que comandava 24 000 homens no nono mês;

13o comandante da décima divisão era Maarai, de Netofa em Zera, com 24 000 em serviço no décimo mês;

14o comandante da décima primeira divisão era Benaia, de Piraton em Efraim, com 24 000 soldados em serviço no décimo primeiro mês de cada ano;

15o comandante da décima segunda divisão era Heldai de Netofa, na área de Otniel, que tinha sob comando 24 000 homens no décimo segundo mês.

Os oficiais das tribos

16Os oficiais mais graduados, das tribos de Israel, eram os seguintes:

sobre a tribo de Rúben estava Eliezer, filho de Zicri;

sobre Simeão, Sefatias, filho de Maacá;

17sobre Levi, Hasabias, filho de Quemuel;

sobre os descendentes de Aarão, Zadoque;

18sobre Judá, Eliú, irmão do rei David;

sobre Issacar, Omri, filho de Micael;

19sobre Zebulão, Ismaías, filho de Obadias;

sobre Naftali, Jerimote, filho de Azriel;

20sobre Efraim, Oseias, filho de Azazias;

sobre a meia tribo de Manassés, Joel, filho de Pedaías;

21sobre a outra meia tribo de Manassés, em Gileade, Ido, filho de Zacarias;

sobre Benjamim, Jaasiel, filho de Abner;

22sobre Dan, Azarel, filho de Jeroão.

23Quando David os recenseou, não incluiu os de 20 anos e mais novos, porque o Senhor prometera multiplicar o seu povo como as estrelas do céu. 24Joabe iniciou o recenseamento, mas nunca chegou a acabá-lo, porque a ira de Deus caiu sobre Israel; o total nunca foi inscrito nas crónicas do rei David.
