ユダの王アザルヤ
1-2ユダの新しい王アザルヤ（別名ウジヤ）は、イスラエルの王ヤロブアム二世の第二十七年に即位しました。父はアマツヤ王、母はエルサレム出身のエコルヤで、十六歳で即位し、エルサレムでの在位期間は五十二年に及びました。
3アザルヤは父アマツヤのように、主の目にかなう正しいことを行いました。 4ただ、先王にならって高台の礼拝所は取り除かず、民はなおも、そこでいけにえをささげたり、香をたいたりしていました。 5このため主が王を打ったので、王はツァラアトに冒され、死ぬまで隔離された家に住まなければなりませんでした。その間、王の子ヨタムが摂政を務めました。 6アザルヤのその他の業績は、『ユダ諸王の年代記』に記録されています。 7彼は死んで、先祖とともにダビデの町に葬られ、息子ヨタムが王となりました。

8イスラエルの新しい王、ヤロブアムの子ゼカリヤは、ユダの王アザルヤの第三十八年に即位し、在位期間は六か月でした。

13イスラエルの新しい王、ヤベシュの子シャルムは、ユダの王ウジヤの第三十九年に即位し、在位期間は一か月でした。
14シャルムが王となって一か月後、ガディの子メナヘムが、ティルツァからサマリヤに上って王を殺害し、王位を奪いました。 15シャルムのその他の業績と、彼が企てた謀反のことは、『イスラエル諸王の年代記』に記録されています。
16メナヘム王は、タプアハの町と周辺の村々を破壊しました。そこの住民が、彼を王に迎えることを喜ばなかったからです。王は全住民を打ち、妊婦たちを切り裂きました。

17イスラエルの新しい王メナヘムは、ユダの王アザルヤの第三十九年に即位し、サマリヤで十年間治めました。
18メナヘムは主の前に悪を行い、ヤロブアム一世のように偶像を礼拝し、民を恐ろしい罪に誘い込みました。
19-20折しも、アッシリヤの王プルがこの地を侵略しました。その時、メナヘムが銀一千タラント（三万四千キログラム）を与えたので、プルは引き返しました。王は資金調達のため、資産家全員から銀五十シェケル（五百七十グラム）ずつ強制的に取り立てました。 21メナヘムのその他の業績は、『イスラエル諸王の年代記』に記録されています。 22王は死んで、その子ペカフヤが新しく王となりました。

23イスラエルの新しい王ペカフヤは、ユダの王アザルヤの第五十年に即位し、サマリヤで二年間治めました。
24ペカフヤ王は主の前に悪を行い、イスラエルに悪の根を植えつけた、ネバテの子ヤロブアム一世が持ち込んだ偶像礼拝を続けました。
25イスラエル軍の最高司令官だったレマルヤの子ペカが、ギルアデ出身の五十人を誘って謀反を起こし、サマリヤの宮殿で王を暗殺しました。その時の反乱で、王の側近のアルゴブとアルエも殺されました。こうして、ペカフヤに代わってペカが新しく王となりました。 26ペカフヤのその他の業績は、『イスラエル諸王の年代記』に記録されています。
イスラエルの王ペカ
27イスラエルの新しい王、レマルヤの子ペカは、ユダの王アザルヤの第五十二年に即位し、サマリヤで二十年間治めました。
28ペカも主の前に悪を行い、イスラエルの民を偶像礼拝の罪に陥らせた、ネバテの子ヤロブアム一世にならいました。
29ペカが王位にある時、アッシリヤの王ティグラテ・ピレセル（プル）が攻めて来て、イヨン、アベル・ベテ・マアカ、ヤノアハ、ケデシュ、ハツォル、ギルアデ、ガリラヤ、ナフタリの全土を占領し、住民を捕虜として連れ去りました。 30その時、エラの子ホセアが謀反を企て、王を暗殺して、自分が王座につきました。

ユダの王ヨタム
32-33ユダの新しい王ヨタムは、イスラエルの王ペカの第二年に二十五歳で即位しました。父はウジヤ、母はツァドクの娘エルシャ。彼はエルサレムで十六年間治めました。

1In the twenty-seventh year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Azariah15:1 Also called Uzziah; also in verses 6, 7, 8, 17, 23 and 27 son of Amaziah king of Judah began to reign. 2He was sixteen years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem for fifty-two years. His mother’s name was Jekoliah; she was from Jerusalem. 3He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father Amaziah had done. 4The high places, however, were not removed; the people continued to offer sacrifices and burn incense there.

Zechariah king of Israel
8In the thirty-eighth year of Azariah king of Judah, Zechariah son of Jeroboam became king of Israel in Samaria, and he reigned for six months. 9He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, as his predecessors had done. He did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he had caused Israel to commit.
10Shallum son of Jabesh conspired against Zechariah. He attacked him in front of the people,15:10 Hebrew; some Septuagint manuscripts in Ibleam assassinated him and succeeded him as king. 11The other events of Zechariah’s reign are written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel. 12So the word of the Lord spoken to Jehu was fulfilled: ‘Your descendants will sit on the throne of Israel to the fourth generation.’15:12 2 Kings 10:30
Shallum king of Israel
13Shallum son of Jabesh became king in the thirty-ninth year of Uzziah king of Judah, and he reigned in Samaria for one month. 14Then Menahem son of Gadi went from Tirzah up to Samaria. He attacked Shallum son of Jabesh in Samaria, assassinated him and succeeded him as king.
15The other events of Shallum’s reign, and the conspiracy he led, are written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel.
16At that time Menahem, starting out from Tirzah, attacked Tiphsah and everyone in the city and its vicinity, because they refused to open their gates. He sacked Tiphsah and ripped open all the pregnant women.
Menahem king of Israel
17In the thirty-ninth year of Azariah king of Judah, Menahem son of Gadi became king of Israel, and he reigned in Samaria for ten years. 18He did evil in the eyes of the Lord. During his entire reign he did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he had caused Israel to commit.
19Then Pul15:19 Also called Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria invaded the land, and Menahem gave him a thousand talents15:19 That is, about 34 metric tons of silver to gain his support and strengthen his own hold on the kingdom. 20Menahem exacted this money from Israel. Every wealthy person had to contribute fifty shekels15:20 That is, about 575 grams of silver to be given to the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria withdrew and stayed in the land no longer.

Pekahiah king of Israel
23In the fiftieth year of Azariah king of Judah, Pekahiah son of Menahem became king of Israel in Samaria, and he reigned for two years. 24Pekahiah did evil in the eyes of the Lord. He did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he had caused Israel to commit. 25One of his chief officers, Pekah son of Remaliah, conspired against him. Taking fifty men of Gilead with him, he assassinated Pekahiah, along with Argob and Arieh, in the citadel of the royal palace at Samaria. So Pekah killed Pekahiah and succeeded him as king.

Pekah king of Israel
27In the fifty-second year of Azariah king of Judah, Pekah son of Remaliah became king of Israel in Samaria, and he reigned for twenty years. 28He did evil in the eyes of the Lord. He did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he had caused Israel to commit.
29In the time of Pekah king of Israel, Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria came and took Ijon, Abel Beth Maakah, Janoah, Kedesh and Hazor. He took Gilead and Galilee, including all the land of Naphtali, and deported the people to Assyria. 30Then Hoshea son of Elah conspired against Pekah son of Remaliah. He attacked and assassinated him, and then succeeded him as king in the twentieth year of Jotham son of Uzziah.

Jotham king of Judah
32In the second year of Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel, Jotham son of Uzziah king of Judah began to reign. 33He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem for sixteen years. His mother’s name was Jerusha daughter of Zadok. 34He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father Uzziah had done. 35The high places, however, were not removed; the people continued to offer sacrifices and burn incense there. Jotham rebuilt the Upper Gate of the temple of the Lord.
36As for the other events of Jotham’s reign, and what he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah? 37(In those days the Lord began to send Rezin king of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah against Judah.) 38Jotham rested with his ancestors and was buried with them in the City of David, the city of his father. And Ahaz his son succeeded him as king.
