裁判において
1根拠のないうわさを流してはならない。証言台で偽証をし、悪人を助けることがないようにしなさい。
2-3多数の力に流されて、悪事に加担してはならない。証言台に立つとき、その場の雰囲気に左右されて不当な証言をしてはならない。また、ただ貧しいというだけで人に同情し、証言をゆがめてはいけない。
4あなたの敵の牛やろばが道に迷っているのを見たら、彼のもとに送り返しなさい。 5もしあなたの敵のろばが重荷に押しつぶされてうめいていたら、そのまま見過ごしにしてはならない。力を貸してろばを立たせてやりなさい。
6正義を曲げ、貧しい人に不利になる裁判をしてはならない。
7絶対に、うその訴えをしてはならない。無実の者が死刑になるようなことは決してあってはならない。
8わいろを取ってはならない。わいろは人の目をくらませ、判断を誤らせるからである。わいろは正しい人の申し立てをゆがめる。
9在留異国人をしいたげてはならない。外国に住む心細さはよく知っているはずである。エジプトでの体験を思い出しなさい。
安息年、安息日
10六年間は種をまき、収穫を得なさい。 11七年目は土地を休ませ、貧しい者が自然に生えたものを刈り取れるようにする。あとは、野の動物たちが自由に食べられるように残しておきなさい。この規定はぶどう畑とオリーブ畑にも当てはまる。
12六日間は働いて七日目は休みなさい。牛やろばを休ませ、奴隷や在留異国人も含め、家族全員に休息をとらせるためである。
13これらのおきてを必ずすべて守らなければならない。特に忘れてはならないのは、ほかの神々の名を決して唱えてはならないことだ。
祭りについて
14毎年、守るべき祭りが三つある。 15最初は種なしパンの祭りである。すでに命じておいたように、七日間、種を入れないパンを食べる。この祭りは第一月（太陽暦では三月）、つまり、あなたがたがエジプトから脱出した時期に毎年行う。この時はささげ物を持って来る。 16次に、刈り入れの祭りがある。この時は最初の収穫物を持って来なければならない。最後に、収穫期の終わりに収穫の祭りがくる。 17毎年この三回、イスラエル人はみな神の前に出なければならない。
18いけにえの血は、種を入れたパンといっしょに供えてはならない。いけにえの脂肪を翌朝までそのまま残しておいてはならない。
19刈り入れの時、最初の収穫の中でも最良の物を持って来なさい。それをあなたの神、主にささげなければならない。
子やぎを母親の乳で煮てはならない。
戒めを守る者への祝福
20わたしは、約束の地に無事にあなたがたを連れて行くため、使いを送る。 21彼を敬い、その教えに従いなさい。背いてはならない。彼はあなたがたの罪を赦さないからだ。この使いはわたしの名において行動する。
22しかし、心を尽くして彼に従い、あらゆる戒めを守るならば、あなたがたの敵はわたしの敵となる。 23わたしの使いが先立って、あなたがたをエモリ人、ヘテ人、ペリジ人、カナン人、ヒビ人、エブス人の国に導き、そこに住まわせる。その国々を、わたしはあなたがたの目の前で滅ぼそう。
24こういった国々の偶像を拝んではならない。どんなことがあっても、それらの神々にいけにえをささげてはならない。異教徒の悪い習慣に染まらず、むしろ完全に彼らを征服し、その汚れた偶像を打ち壊さなければならない。
25あなたがたの神、主にだけ仕えなければならない。そうすれば、わたしはみなを祝福して食べ物と水を与え、あらゆる病気をなくす。 26流産もなくなり、子を産めない女もいなくなる。それぞれの一生を全うできるようにする。
27わたしは、これから征服する地の民に恐れを抱かせる。彼らはあなたがたの前から逃げ去る。 28わたしはまた、ヒビ人、カナン人、ヘテ人を追い払うために、くまばちを送る。 29しかし、一年のうちに彼らを追い出すことはしない。そんなことをしたら、土地が荒れ果て、野生動物が増えて手に負えなくなってしまうからだ。 30だから、あなたがたの人口が増え、国の全土に広がって住むようになるまで、彼らを少しずつ追い払う。 31あなたがたの領土も広げよう。紅海（ここではアカバ湾）からペリシテの海岸（パレスチナ西海岸）まで、南の砂漠からユーフラテス川に至るまでとする。その地の住民をあなたがたの手に渡すので、あなたがたは彼らを追い出すことになる。
32彼らといっさい契約を結んではならない。彼らの神々とかかわり合ってはならない。 33彼らをイスラエルに住ませてはならない。さもないと、偽りの神々を拝む彼らの罪に染まってしまう。それは、あなたがたにとって災い以外の何ものでもない。」
Laws of justice and mercy
1‘Do not spread false reports. Do not help a guilty person by being a malicious witness.
2‘Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you give testimony in a lawsuit, do not pervert justice by siding with the crowd, 3and do not show favouritism to a poor person in a lawsuit.
4‘If you come across your enemy’s ox or donkey wandering off, be sure to return it. 5If you see the donkey of someone who hates you fallen down under its load, do not leave it there; be sure you help them with it.
6‘Do not deny justice to your poor people in their lawsuits. 7Have nothing to do with a false charge and do not put an innocent or honest person to death, for I will not acquit the guilty.
8‘Do not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds those who see and twists the words of the innocent.
9‘Do not oppress a foreigner; you yourselves know how it feels to be foreigners, because you were foreigners in Egypt.
Sabbath laws
10‘For six years you are to sow your fields and harvest the crops, 11but during the seventh year let the land lie unploughed and unused. Then the poor among your people may get food from it, and the wild animals may eat what is left. Do the same with your vineyard and your olive grove.
12‘Six days do your work, but on the seventh day do not work, so that your ox and your donkey may rest, and so that the slave born in your household and the foreigner living among you may be refreshed.
13‘Be careful to do everything I have said to you. Do not invoke the names of other gods; do not let them be heard on your lips.
The three annual festivals
14‘Three times a year you are to celebrate a festival to me.
15‘Celebrate the Festival of Unleavened Bread; for seven days eat bread made without yeast, as I commanded you. Do this at the appointed time in the month of Aviv, for in that month you came out of Egypt.
‘No-one is to appear before me empty-handed.
16‘Celebrate the Festival of Harvest with the firstfruits of the crops you sow in your field.
‘Celebrate the Festival of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you gather in your crops from the field.
17‘Three times a year all the men are to appear before the Sovereign Lord.
18‘Do not offer the blood of a sacrifice to me along with anything containing yeast.
‘The fat of my festival offerings must not be kept until morning.
19‘Bring the best of the firstfruits of your soil to the house of the Lord your God.
‘Do not cook a young goat in its mother’s milk.
God’s angel to prepare the way
20‘See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared. 21Pay attention to him and listen to what he says. Do not rebel against him; he will not forgive your rebellion, since my Name is in him. 22If you listen carefully to what he says and do all that I say, I will be an enemy to your enemies and will oppose those who oppose you. 23My angel will go ahead of you and bring you into the land of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites and Jebusites, and I will wipe them out. 24Do not bow down before their gods or worship them or follow their practices. You must demolish them and break their sacred stones to pieces. 25Worship the Lord your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away disease from among you, 26and none will miscarry or be barren in your land. I will give you a full life span.
27‘I will send my terror ahead of you and throw into confusion every nation you encounter. I will make all your enemies turn their backs and run. 28I will send the hornet ahead of you to drive the Hivites, Canaanites and Hittites out of your way. 29But I will not drive them out in a single year, because the land would become desolate and the wild animals too numerous for you. 30Little by little I will drive them out before you, until you have increased enough to take possession of the land.
31‘I will establish your borders from the Red Sea23:31 Or the Sea of Reeds to the Mediterranean Sea,23:31 Hebrew to the Sea of the Philistines and from the desert to the River Euphrates. I will give into your hands the people who live in the land, and you will drive them out before you. 32Do not make a covenant with them or with their gods. 33Do not let them live in your land or they will cause you to sin against me, because the worship of their gods will certainly be a snare to you.’
