人々の救い
1神である主はこう命じます。
「正義を守り、すべての人に公正であれ。
正しいことを行いなさい。
もうすぐ、あなたを救い出しに行くからだ。
2わたしの安息日には仕事をせず、
この日を守る人は幸いだ。
きびしく自戒して、
悪いことをしない人は幸いだ。
3わたしの祝福は、主を信じる外国人にも及ぶ。
彼らに、『主は私たちを劣った者とする』
と考えさせてはならない。
宦官（宮廷につかえる去勢男子）の場合も同じだ。
ほかの人同様、彼らも完全にわたしのものとなれる。
4安息日をきよい心で守り、わたしの喜ぶことを進んで行い、わたしの教えを守る宦官に、こう約束する。 5わたしの家とわたしの城壁のうちで、息子や娘を持つことにまさる名を彼らに与える。わたしが与える名はいつまでも価値のあるもので、決してすたれることはない。 6また、神の民の仲間入りをしてわたしに仕え、わたしの名を愛し、わたしのしもべとなって安息日をきよく守り、わたしの契約を受け入れた外国人には、次のように約束する。 7わたしは彼らをエルサレムにあるわたしの聖なる山へ連れて行き、わたしの祈りの家で喜ばせる。わたしは彼らのいけにえや供え物を受け入れる。わたしの神殿は『すべての民の祈りの家』と呼ばれるからだ。」 8追放されたイスラエルの民を呼び戻す主は、その民イスラエル以外の者たちも集めると告げます。
邪悪な者に対する神の叱責
9「野の獣よ、来て羊を裂き殺せ。
森の獣よ、来て、わたしの民の骨まで食らえ。
10わたしの立てた見張りであり羊飼いである
イスラエルの指導者は、みな目が見えないので、
危険に気づかない。
みな愚かで、危険が近づいても警告しない。
寝ころんで夢を見るのが大好きだ。
11彼らは貪欲な犬で、満足することを知らない。
自分の利益だけを追い求める愚かな羊飼いで、
めぼしいところから、
できるだけ多くもうけてやろうと目を光らせている。
12彼らはこう言った。
『さあ、酒を手に入れ、宴会を開こう。
みんなで酔っ払うのだ。
これこそ生きがいというものだ。
さあ、浴びるほど飲もう。
明日は今日よりもっとすばらしいことが
あるかもしれない。』」
1Thus saith the LORD, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed.56.1 judgment: or, equity 2Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.
3¶ Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself to the LORD, speak, saying, The LORD hath utterly separated me from his people: neither let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree. 4For thus saith the LORD unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant; 5Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off. 6Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant; 7Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people. 8The Lord GOD which gathereth the outcasts of Israel saith, Yet will I gather others to him, beside those that are gathered unto him.56.8 beside…: Heb. to his gathered
9¶ All ye beasts of the field, come to devour, yea, all ye beasts in the forest. 10His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.56.10 sleeping: or, dreaming, or, talking in their sleep 11Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter.56.11 greedy: Heb. strong of appetite56.11 can…: Heb. know not to be satisfied 12Come ye, say they, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and to morrow shall be as this day, and much more abundant.
