イスラエルを助ける者
1海の向こうの島々よ。
わたしの前では口をつぐんで聞きなさい。
どんな難問でももってきなさい。
おまえたちのために法廷が開かれるから、
そこで話すがよい。
2だれが、東の国に一人の人物（クロス王を指す）を起こし、
行く先々で勝利を得させたのか。
わたし以外の者であるはずはない。
わたしが彼に、多くの国々を征服し、
王たちを踏みにじり、
敵の軍隊を剣の餌食にする力を与えたのだ。
3彼は敵を追いかけるが、
一度も通ったことのない道を安全に進んで行く。
4その進撃によって歴史は大きく塗り変えられる。
こんな途方もなく大きなことを演出したのはだれか。
それはわたし、
初めであり終わりである、このわたしだ。
わたしこそが主である。
5海の向こうの国々はおびえ、
今度の遠征計画について
彼のことばを待っている。
遠く離れた国々も戦々恐々で、戦争に備える。
6職人は互いに励まして、「心配するな。
彼が勝つはずないから」と気休めを言って、
7新しい偶像造りを急ぐ。
彫刻師は鍛冶屋をせかせ、
鋳物師は、かなとこをたたく手伝いをして、
「もう十分火が通った。
さあ、腕の部分をはんだづけしよう」と言う。
注意深く各部をつけて、堅くしめつけ、
ばらばらにならないようにする。
8しかし、わたしのしもべイスラエルよ。
あなたはわたしの友アブラハムの家族だ。
だから、わたしはあなたを選び、わたしのものとした。
9あなたを地の果てから呼び出し、
わたしだけに仕えよと言った。
わたしはあなたを選び、
どんなことがあっても見捨てない。
10恐れるな。わたしがついている。
取り乱すな。わたしはあなたの神だ。
わたしはあなたを力づけ、あなたを助け、
勝利の右の手でしっかり支える。
11いきりたつ敵はみな、無残に踏みにじられる。
あなたに刃向かう者はみな死に絶える。
12彼らの姿を捜し回っても無駄だ。
一人もいなくなるからだ。
13わたしがおまえの右手をつかみ、「恐れるな。
あなたを助けに来た」と励ます。
14イスラエルよ、たとえ軽蔑されても恐れるな。
わたしは必ずあなたを助ける。
わたしは主、あなたを贖う者だ。
わたしはイスラエルの聖なる神だ。
15あなたは新しい鋭い刃のついた打穀機となり、
敵という敵を粉々にし、もみがらの山をつくる。
16それを空中に放り上げると、風が吹き飛ばし、
つむじ風がまき散らす。
こうして主の喜びがあなたの心を満たし、
あなたはイスラエルの神を誇りに思うようになる。
17貧しい者や困っている者が水を求めても得られず、
のどは渇き、舌が上あごにつく。
そのようなとき、わたしを呼べば、わたしは答える。
イスラエルの神であるわたしは、
いつまでも彼らを見捨てない。
18わたしは台地に川を開き、谷間には泉を湧かせて、
彼らに与える。
砂漠には池ができ、からからに乾いた地には、
多くの泉から川が流れだす。
19わたしは不毛の地に、杉、アカシヤ、ミルトス、
オリーブ、糸杉、プラタナス、松の木を植える。
20だれもがこの奇跡を見て、
これをしたのはイスラエルの聖なる神だと認める。
21おまえたちの偶像に、こんなことができるのか、
わたしに見せてみなさい。
イスラエルの王である神は言います。
22昔どんなことが起こったか、
将来どんなことが起こるかを、
偶像に話させてみなさい。
23偶像が神であるなら、
これから何が起こるかを説明させてみなさい。
あるいは、わたしたちを驚かせるような、
すばらしい奇跡を行わせてみなさい。
24もちろん、そんなことができるはずはない。
神といっても名ばかりで、何一つできないのだから。
あなたがたを選んだ者は、自分の頭が正常かどうか、
調べてもらえばよい。
25わたしは北と東から人（クロス王）を起こす。
彼は国々を相手に戦いをいどみ、わたしの名を呼ぶ。
わたしはそれにこたえ、
国々の王や領主を征服する力を与えるので、
彼は陶器師が土くれを踏むように、彼らを踏みにじる。
26こんなことを、わたし以外にだれが告げたか。
いったいだれが、説得力をもって、
こうなると予告したか。
誰ひとりいなかったではないか。
ほかの神々は、ただのひと言も口をはさまなかった。
27「さあ、目を上げて見るのだ。
助けはすぐそこまで来ている」と、
真っ先にエルサレムに伝えたのは、わたしだった。
28おまえたちの偶像のどれ一つとして、
こうは言わなかった。
わたしが問いかけても返事さえしなかった。
29みな愚かで、役に立たない者ばかりだ。
まるで風のように頼りにならない。
