Nagwali si Jeremias
1Amo pa gid ini ang ginsiling sang Ginoo kay Jeremias: 2“Magtindog ka sa puwertahan sang akon templo kag ihambal ini nga mensahi: ‘Kamo nga katawhan sang Juda nga nagasulod diri sa pagsimba sa Ginoo, magpamati kamo. 3Amo ini ang ginasiling sang Ginoo nga Makagagahom, ang Dios sang Israel: Bag-uha na ninyo ang inyo pagginawi kag pamatasan, agod padayon ko kamo nga paestaron sa sini nga lugar. 4Indi kamo magpadaya sa mga tawo nga nagasulit-sulit hambal nga indi kamo kuno maano tungod ari sa aton ang templo sang Ginoo.
5“ ‘Bag-uha na gid ninyo ang inyo pagginawi kag pamatasan. Tratara ninyo sing husto ang isa kag isa, 6kag indi na ninyo pagpiguson ang mga ilo, mga balo nga babayi, kag ang mga indi Israelinhon nga nagaestar upod sa inyo. Indi ninyo pagsentensyahan nga patyon ang mga inosente, kag indi ninyo pagsimbahon ang iban nga mga dios nga makahalit lang sa inyo. 7Kon tumanon ninyo ini, padayon ko kamo nga paestaron sa sini nga lugar, sa duta nga ginhatag ko sa inyo mga katigulangan hasta san-o.
8“ ‘Pero tan-awa kon ano ang inyo ginahimo! Nagasalig kamo sa butig nga mga pulong nga wala sing pulos. 9Nagapangawat kamo, nagapamatay, nagapanginbabayi ukon nagapanginlalaki, nagasaksi sing butig, nagasunog sang insenso kay Baal, kag nagasimba sa iban pa nga mga dios nga wala gani ninyo makilal-i. 10Kag dayon, nagapalapit kamo kag nagatindog sa akon presensya sa sini nga templo nga akon ginpili nga lugar para padunggan ako, kag nagasiling kamo, “Wala kita maano.” Kag pagkatapos, padayon ninyo nga ginahimo atong makangilil-ad nga mga butang. 11Nagahunahuna bala kamo nga ining templo nga akon ginpili nga lugar para padunggan ako palanaguan sang mga tulisan? Nakita ko ang mga ginahimo dira. Ako, ang Ginoo, ang nagasiling sini.
12“ ‘Kadto kamo sa Shilo nga amo ang una nga lugar nga akon ginpili para padunggan ako, kag tan-awa ninyo kon ano ang akon ginhimo sa sadto nga lugar tungod sa kalautan sang akon katawhan nga mga Israelinhon. 13Samtang ginahimo ninyo ining malaot nga mga butang, ginsulit-sulit ko ang pagpaandam sa inyo, pero wala kamo magpamati. Nagpanawag ako sa inyo, pero wala kamo magsabat. 14Gani kon ano ang akon ginhimo sa Shilo amo man ang akon himuon subong sa templo nga akon ginpili nga lugar para padunggan ako, ang templo nga inyo ginasaligan, nga ginhatag ko sa inyo kag sa inyo mga katigulangan. 15Pahalinon ko kamo sa inyo lugar palayo sa akon presensya pareho sa ginhimo ko sa inyo mga paryente, ang katawhan sang Israel.7:15 Israel: sa Hebreo, Efraim, nga nagarepresentar sang ginharian sang Israel.’
16“Gani ikaw, Jeremias, indi ka magpangamuyo para sa sini nga mga tawo. Indi ka gid magpakitluoy ukon magpangabay sa akon para sa ila, kay indi ko ikaw pagpamatian. 17Wala mo bala nakita kon ano ang ila ginahimo sa mga banwa sang Juda kag sa mga dalan sang Jerusalem? 18Ang mga kabataan nagapangahoy, ang mga amay nagadabok sang kalayo, kag ang mga babayi nagamasa sang harina, agod maghimo sang tinapay para sa Reyna sang Langit.7:18 Reyna sang Langit: isa sa mga diosa nga ginasimba sang una nga panahon. Nagahalad man sila sang ilimnon sa iban nga mga dios sa pagpaakig sa akon. 19Pero ako bala ang ila ginahalitan? Indi! Ang ila kaugalingon ang ila ginahalitan kag ginapakahuy-an. 20Gani ako, ang Ginoong Dios, nagasiling: Ipaagom ko ang akon puwerte nga kaakig sa sini nga lugar—sa mga tawo kag mga kasapatan, sa mga kahoy kag sa mga patubas. Ang akon kaakig pareho sang kalayo nga indi mapatay.”
21Nagpadayon sa pagsiling ang Ginoo nga Makagagahom, ang Dios sang Israel, “Kuhaa na lang ninyo ang inyo mga halad nga ginasunog kag ang iban pa ninyo nga mga halad. Kamo na lang ang magkaon sang karne sina! 22Sang ginpaguwa ko ang inyo mga katigulangan sa Egipto wala lang ako nagsugo sa ila nga maghalad sang mga halad nga ginasunog kag sang iban pa nga mga halad, 23kundi nagsugo man ako sini sa ila: ‘Tumana ninyo ako, kag mangin Dios ako ninyo kag mangin katawhan ko kamo. Magkabuhi kamo sa mga pamaagi nga ginsugo ko sa inyo agod mangin maayo ang inyo kahimtangan.’
24“Pero wala sila magtuman ukon magsapak sa akon ginsiling. Sa baylo, ginsunod nila ang dikta sang ila matig-a kag malaot nga tagipusuon. Imbes nga magpalapit sila sa akon, nagtalikod pa gani sila. 25Halin sang pagguwa sang inyo mga katigulangan sa Egipto hasta subong padayon ako nga nagapadala sa inyo sang akon mga alagad nga mga propeta. 26Pero wala kamo magpamati ukon magsapak sa ila. Mas matig-a pa ang inyo mga ulo kag mas malain pa gid ang inyo ginhimo sang sa inyo mga katigulangan.
27“Jeremias, kon ihambal mo ini tanan sa ila, indi sila mamati sa imo. Kon tawgon mo sila nga magpalapit sa akon, indi sila magsabat. 28Gani isiling ini sa ila: Amo ini ang nasyon nga ang iya katawhan indi magtuman sa Ginoo nga ila Dios, kag indi magpadisiplina. Wala na sa ila ang kamatuoran; indi na sila maghambal sing matuod. 29Mga taga-Jerusalem, magpakiskis kamo sang inyo ulo kag ihaboy dayon ang inyo buhok sa pagpakita sang inyo pagpangasubo. Magpangasubo kamo didto sa mahawan nga mga bukid, kay ginsikway kag ginpabay-an sang Ginoo ang inyo henerasyon nga nagpaakig sa iya.”
Ang Pulopatag nga Palatyan
30Nagsiling ang Ginoo, “Naghimo sang kalautan ang katawhan sang Juda. Didto nila ginbutang ang ila makangilil-ad nga mga dios-dios sa templo nga akon ginpili nga lugar para padunggan ako, kag tungod sini nadagtaan ini. 31Nagpatindog man sila sang simbahan sa Tofet, sa Pulopatag sang Ben Hinom, agod didto nila sunugon ang ila mga anak bilang mga halad. Wala gid ako magsugo sini sa ila; wala gani ini magsulod sa akon hunahuna. 32Gani mag-andam kamo, kay ako, ang Ginoo, nagasiling nga magaabot ang tion nga ang mga tawo indi na magtawag sa sini nga lugar nga Tofet ukon Pulopatag sang Ben Hinom kundi Pulopatag nga Palatyan. Kay didto ipanglubong ang madamo gid nga mga patay hasta wala na sing lugar nga malubngan. 33Ang mga bangkay sang sini nga katawhan pagakaunon sang mga pispis kag talunon nga mga sapat, kag wala sing may magtabog sa ila. 34Pauntaton ko na ang pagkinalipay kag pagkinasadya sa mga dalan sang Jerusalem. Ang malipayon nga tingog sang bag-ong kasal indi na mabatian sa mga banwa sang Juda. Kay ini nga duta mangin mamingaw.”
False religion worthless
1This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: 2‘Stand at the gate of the Lord’s house and there proclaim this message:
‘ “Hear the word of the Lord, all you people of Judah who come through these gates to worship the Lord. 3This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: reform your ways and your actions, and I will let you live in this place. 4Do not trust in deceptive words and say, ‘This is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord!’ 5If you really change your ways and your actions and deal with each other justly, 6if you do not oppress the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow and do not shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not follow other gods to your own harm, 7then I will let you live in this place, in the land I gave to your ancestors for ever and ever. 8But look, you are trusting in deceptive words that are worthless.
9‘ “Will you steal and murder, commit adultery and perjury,7:9 Or and swear by false gods burn incense to Baal and follow other gods you have not known, 10and then come and stand before me in this house, which bears my Name, and say, ‘We are safe’ – safe to do all these detestable things? 11Has this house, which bears my Name, become a den of robbers to you? But I have been watching! declares the Lord.
12‘ “Go now to the place in Shiloh where I first made a dwelling for my Name, and see what I did to it because of the wickedness of my people Israel. 13While you were doing all these things, declares the Lord, I spoke to you again and again, but you did not listen; I called you, but you did not answer. 14Therefore, what I did to Shiloh I will now do to the house that bears my Name, the temple you trust in, the place I gave to you and your ancestors. 15I will thrust you from my presence, just as I did all your fellow Israelites, the people of Ephraim.”
16‘So do not pray for this people nor offer any plea or petition for them; do not plead with me, for I will not listen to you. 17Do you not see what they are doing in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? 18The children gather wood, the fathers light the fire, and the women knead the dough and make cakes to offer to the Queen of Heaven. They pour out drink offerings to other gods to arouse my anger. 19But am I the one they are provoking? declares the Lord. Are they not rather harming themselves, to their own shame?
20‘ “Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: my anger and my wrath will be poured out on this place – on man and beast, on the trees of the field and on the crops of your land – and it will burn and not be quenched.
21‘ “This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: go ahead, add your burnt offerings to your other sacrifices and eat the meat yourselves! 22For when I brought your ancestors out of Egypt and spoke to them, I did not just give them commands about burnt offerings and sacrifices, 23but I gave them this command: obey me, and I will be your God and you will be my people. Walk in obedience to all I command you, that it may go well with you. 24But they did not listen or pay attention; instead, they followed the stubborn inclinations of their evil hearts. They went backwards and not forwards. 25From the time your ancestors left Egypt until now, day after day, again and again I sent you my servants the prophets. 26But they did not listen to me or pay attention. They were stiff-necked and did more evil than their ancestors.”
27‘When you tell them all this, they will not listen to you; when you call to them, they will not answer. 28Therefore say to them, “This is the nation that has not obeyed the Lord its God or responded to correction. Truth has perished; it has vanished from their lips.
29‘ “Cut off your hair and throw it away; take up a lament on the barren heights, for the Lord has rejected and abandoned this generation that is under his wrath.
The valley of slaughter
30‘ “The people of Judah have done evil in my eyes, declares the Lord. They have set up their detestable idols in the house that bears my Name and have defiled it. 31They have built the high places of Topheth in the Valley of Ben Hinnom to burn their sons and daughters in the fire – something I did not command, nor did it enter my mind. 32So beware, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when people will no longer call it Topheth or the Valley of Ben Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter, for they will bury the dead in Topheth until there is no more room. 33Then the carcasses of this people will become food for the birds and the wild animals, and there will be no-one to frighten them away. 34I will bring an end to the sounds of joy and gladness and to the voices of bride and bridegroom in the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem, for the land will become desolate.
