Isus pred Pilatom
(Mt 27:1-2, 11-14; Lk 23:1-5; Iv 18:28-38)
1Već rano ujutro sastanu se svećenički poglavari, starješine i pismoznanci—cijelo Veliko vijeće—te Isusa svežu i odvedu rimskome upravitelju Pilatu.
2Pilat ga upita: “Jesi li ti kralj Židova?”
“Ti to kažeš”, odgovori mu Isus.
3Svećenički ga poglavari optuže za mnoge zločine. 4Pilat ga ponovno upita: “Zar nemaš ništa na to reći? Gledaj kako te optužuju!” 5Isus mu više ništa ne odgovori, što je Pilata veoma začudilo.
Isusa osuđuju na smrt
(Mt 27:15-26; Lk 23:13-25; Iv 18:39—19:16)
6Bio je, međutim, običaj da rimski upravitelj svake godine o blagdanu Pashe pusti na slobodu jednoga židovskog zatvorenika kojega narod zatraži. 7U to je vrijeme jedan od zatvorenika bio Baraba, osuđen s drugim prevratnicima za ubojstvo u pobuni. 8Svjetina se počne okupljati pred Pilatom tražeći da, prema običaju, oslobodi jednog zatvorenika.
9“Hoćete li da oslobodim židovskoga kralja?” upita Pilat. 10Znao je, naime, da su ga svećenički poglavari predali sudu iz zavisti. 11Ali svećenički poglavari podjare svjetinu da zatraži slobodu za Barabu.
12“A što da onda učinim s ovim kojega nazivate kraljem Židova?”
13A oni opet poviču: “Raspni ga!”
14“Zbog čega?” upita Pilat. “Kakvo je zlo učinio?”
Ali oni su samo još glasnije vikali: “Raspni ga!”
15I tako Pilat, želeći ugoditi svjetini, oslobodi Barabu, a Isusa izbičuje i preda da ga raspnu.
Vojnici se izruguju Isusu
(Mt 27:27-31; Iv 19:2-3)
16Vojnici ga odvedu u palaču, u takozvani pretorij, i sazovu cijelu četu. 17Obuku ga u grimiz i ispletu krunu od trnja te mu stave na glavu. 18Pozdravljali su ga povicima: “Živio kralj Židova!” 19Udarali su ga štapom po glavi, pljuvali po njemu i padali na koljena da mu se “klanjaju”. 20Kad su mu se izrugali, skinu s njega grimiz, odjenu ga u njegovu odjeću i odvedu da ga raspnu.
Isusa raspinju na križ
(Mt 27:32-44; Lk 23:26-43; Iv 19:16-27)
21Natjeraju nekog prolaznika, Šimuna iz Cirene,15:21 Grad u sjevernoj Africi. koji se baš tada vraćao iz polja, da ponese Isusov križ (Šimun bijaše Aleksandrov i Rufov otac). 22Dovedu tako Isusa do mjesta zvanoga Golgota (što znači: “Lubanjsko mjesto”). 23Ponude mu vino s opojnim gorkim travama,15:23 U grčkome: sa smirnom. ali on nije htio piti. 24Kad su ga raspeli, bace kocku te tako razdijele među sobom njegovu odjeću.15:24 Psalam 22:19.
25Raspeli su ga u devet sati ujutro.15:25 U grčkome: A bijaše treća ura i raspeli su ga. 26Iznad njega je stajao natpis o njegovoj krivnji: “Kralj Židova”. 27S njime su raspeli i dvojicu prevratnika, jednoga njemu zdesna, a drugoga slijeva.15:27 U nekim je rukopisima dodan i 28. stih: Time se ispunilo ono što je zapisano u Svetom pismu: Тиме се испунило оно што је записано у Светом писму: “i među zlikovce bio ubrojen” 29Prolaznici su ga ružili i odmahivali glavom govoreći: “Možeš srušiti Hram i sam ga opet izgraditi u tri dana, je li? 30Spasi onda sebe i siđi s križa!”
31Slično su mu se rugali i svećenički poglavari i pismoznanci: “Spasio je druge, a sebe ne može spasiti! 32Mesija! Kralj Izraelov! Neka sada siđe s križa da vidimo, pa da vjerujemo!” Vrijeđali su ga čak i prevratnici raspeti skupa s njim.
Isusova smrt
(Mt 27:45-56; Lk 23:44-49; Iv 19:28-30)
33O podnevu po svoj zemlji nastane tama i potraje do tri ure.15:33 U grčkome: od šestoga do devetog sata, po rimskome računanju vremena prema kojemu je dan počinjao u šest sati ujutro. 34U tri sata Isus glasno poviče: “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabahtani!”, (što znači: “Bože moj, Bože moj, zašto si me ostavio?”)15:34 Vidjeti Psalam 22:1.
35“Zove Iliju!” rekoše neki od nazočnih kad su to čuli. 36A neki čovjek otrči uzeti spužvu te ju namoči u ocat i natakne na trsku te mu pruži piti. “Da vidimo hoće li doći Ilija i skinuti ga”, reče.
37A Isus još jedanput glasno krikne i izdahne.
38Nato se zastor u Hramu razdere napola od vrha do dna. 39Kad je rimski stotnik koji je stajao nasuprot Isusu vidio kako je izdahnuo, reče: “Ovaj je čovjek zaista bio Božji Sin!”
40Bile su tu i žene koje su promatrale izdaleka—Marija iz Magdale, Marija, majka Jakova mlađega i Josije, te Saloma, 41koje su ga pratile i služile mu dok je bio u Galileji. S njim su došle u Jeruzalem.
Isusov ukop
(Mt 27:57-61; Lk 23:50-56; Iv 19:38-42)
42Sve se to događalo u petak, na dan Priprave, dan uoči Subote. Kad je pala večer, 43Josip iz Arimateje, ugledan član Velikoga vijeća koji je također iščekivao Božje kraljevstvo, odvaži se te uđe k Pilatu zatražiti Isusovo tijelo. 44Pilat se veoma začudi da je Isus već umro, pa pozove dežurnoga rimskog stotnika da ga upita je li mrtav. 45Stotnik odgovori da jest, pa Pilat preda Josipu Isusovo mrtvo tijelo. 46Josip kupi platna, skine Isusovo tijelo s križa, umota ga u platno i položi u grob isklesan u stijeni te na ulaz navali kamen. 47Marija iz Magdale i Marija majka Josijina gledale su kamo ga polažu.
Jesus Before Pilate
1Very early in the morning, the chief priests, with the elders, the teachers of the law and the whole Sanhedrin, made their plans. So they bound Jesus, led him away and handed him over to Pilate.
2“Are you the king of the Jews?” asked Pilate.
“You have said so,” Jesus replied.
3The chief priests accused him of many things. 4So again Pilate asked him, “Aren’t you going to answer? See how many things they are accusing you of.”
5But Jesus still made no reply, and Pilate was amazed.
6Now it was the custom at the festival to release a prisoner whom the people requested. 7A man called Barabbas was in prison with the insurrectionists who had committed murder in the uprising. 8The crowd came up and asked Pilate to do for them what he usually did.
9“Do you want me to release to you the king of the Jews?” asked Pilate, 10knowing it was out of self-interest that the chief priests had handed Jesus over to him. 11But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to have Pilate release Barabbas instead.
12“What shall I do, then, with the one you call the king of the Jews?” Pilate asked them.
13“Crucify him!” they shouted.
14“Why? What crime has he committed?” asked Pilate.
But they shouted all the louder, “Crucify him!”
15Wanting to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas to them. He had Jesus flogged, and handed him over to be crucified.
The Soldiers Mock Jesus
16The soldiers led Jesus away into the palace (that is, the Praetorium) and called together the whole company of soldiers. 17They put a purple robe on him, then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on him. 18And they began to call out to him, “Hail, king of the Jews!” 19Again and again they struck him on the head with a staff and spit on him. Falling on their knees, they paid homage to him. 20And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him out to crucify him.
The Crucifixion of Jesus
21A certain man from Cyrene, Simon, the father of Alexander and Rufus, was passing by on his way in from the country, and they forced him to carry the cross. 22They brought Jesus to the place called Golgotha (which means “the place of the skull”). 23Then they offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not take it. 24And they crucified him. Dividing up his clothes, they cast lots to see what each would get.
25It was nine in the morning when they crucified him. 26The written notice of the charge against him read: the king of the jews.
27They crucified two rebels with him, one on his right and one on his left. 2815:28 Some manuscripts include here words similar to Luke 22:37. 29Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads and saying, “So! You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, 30come down from the cross and save yourself!” 31In the same way the chief priests and the teachers of the law mocked him among themselves. “He saved others,” they said, “but he can’t save himself! 32Let this Messiah, this king of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe.” Those crucified with him also heaped insults on him.
The Death of Jesus
33At noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon. 34And at three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”).15:34 Psalm 22:1
35When some of those standing near heard this, they said, “Listen, he’s calling Elijah.”
36Someone ran, filled a sponge with wine vinegar, put it on a staff, and offered it to Jesus to drink. “Now leave him alone. Let’s see if Elijah comes to take him down,” he said.
37With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last.
38The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. 39And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, saw how he died,15:39 Some manuscripts saw that he died with such a cry he said, “Surely this man was the Son of God!”
40Some women were watching from a distance. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joseph,15:40 Greek Joses, a variant of Joseph; also in verse 47 and Salome. 41In Galilee these women had followed him and cared for his needs. Many other women who had come up with him to Jerusalem were also there.
The Burial of Jesus
42It was Preparation Day (that is, the day before the Sabbath). So as evening approached, 43Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent member of the Council, who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God, went boldly to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body. 44Pilate was surprised to hear that he was already dead. Summoning the centurion, he asked him if Jesus had already died. 45When he learned from the centurion that it was so, he gave the body to Joseph. 46So Joseph bought some linen cloth, took down the body, wrapped it in the linen, and placed it in a tomb cut out of rock. Then he rolled a stone against the entrance of the tomb. 47Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joseph saw where he was laid.
