安息日的主
1有一個安息日，耶穌和門徒走過一片麥田，門徒隨手摘下一些麥穗搓了吃。 2有些法利賽人說：「你們為什麼做在安息日不准做的事？」
3耶穌答道：「你們沒有讀過大衛的事嗎？有一天，大衛和他的部下餓了， 4他進入上帝的殿，拿了獻給上帝的供餅。這餅只有祭司才可以吃，大衛不但自己吃了，還分給他的部下吃。」 5耶穌又對他們說：「人子是安息日的主。」
6又有一個安息日，耶穌進入會堂教導人，座中有一個右手萎縮的人。 7律法教師和法利賽人密切地監視耶穌，看祂會不會在安息日醫治病人，好找個藉口控告祂。 8耶穌知道他們的心思，就對那個右手萎縮的人說：「起來，站在大家面前！」那人就起來站在那裡。
9耶穌問眾人：「我問你們，在安息日應該行善呢，還是作惡呢？救人呢，還是害人呢？」 10祂環視眾人，然後對那人說：「把手伸出來！」那人的手一伸就復原了。
11但法利賽人和律法教師卻怒火中燒，開始商議對付耶穌的辦法。
揀選十二使徒
12一天，耶穌到山上整夜向上帝禱告。 13天明時分，祂召集門徒，從中選出十二人立為使徒。 14他們是：西門——耶穌給他取名叫彼得、西門的兄弟安得烈、雅各、約翰、腓力、巴多羅買、 15馬太、多馬、亞勒腓的兒子雅各、激進黨人6·15 當時激進的民族主義者，常以行動反抗統治他們的羅馬政府。西門、 16雅各的兒子猶大和出賣耶穌的加略人猶大。
17耶穌和他們下了山，站在一處平地上，身邊有一大群門徒，還有大批從猶太、耶路撒冷以及泰爾和西頓沿海地區來的人，要聽祂講道，盼望祂醫治他們的疾病。 18那些被污鬼纏身的人也得到了祂的醫治。 19大家都想去摸祂，因為有能力從祂身上發出來，可以治好人們的疾病。
論四福
20耶穌抬頭望著門徒，對他們說：
「貧窮的人有福了，
因為上帝的國屬於你們！
21現在饑餓的人有福了，
因為你們將得飽足！
現在哀哭的人有福了，
因為你們將要歡笑！
22你們為人子的緣故而遭人憎恨、棄絕、侮辱、毀謗，就有福了！ 23那時你們要歡喜雀躍，因為你們在天上有大賞賜！他們的祖先也曾這樣惡待以前的先知。
論四禍
24「富有的人有禍了，
因為你們已經享盡了人世間的安逸！
25現在飽足的人有禍了，
因為你們將要挨餓！
現在歡笑的人有禍了，
因為你們將要哀哭！
26人人都誇讚你們的時候，
你們就有禍了，
因為他們的祖先也是這樣誇讚假先知！
論愛仇敵
27「但是，我告訴你們這些聽道的人，要愛你們的仇敵，要善待恨你們的人， 28要為咒詛你們的人祝福，要替惡待你們的人禱告。 29如果有人打你一邊的臉，連另一邊也轉過來讓他打。如果有人奪你的外衣，連內衣也由他拿去。 30有人向你求什麼，就給他；有人拿了你的東西，不要追討。 31你們想要別人怎樣對待你們，你們就要怎樣對待別人。 32如果你們只愛那些愛你們的人，有什麼功勞呢？就是罪人也會這樣做。 33如果你們只善待那些善待你們的人，有什麼功勞呢？就是罪人也會這樣做。 34如果你們借錢給人，指望收回，有什麼功勞呢？即使罪人也會借貸給罪人，日後再如數收回。
35「然而，要愛你們的仇敵，善待他們；無論借出什麼，都不要指望歸還。這樣，你們將有大賞賜，並且將成為至高者的兒子，因為祂以恩慈待那些忘恩負義和作惡的人。 36你們要憐憫人，像你們的天父憐憫人一樣。
責人先責己
37「不要論斷人，免得你們被人論斷；不要定人的罪，免得自己也被定罪。要饒恕人，這樣你們也必蒙饒恕。 38你們要給他人，這樣上帝必給你們，並且會用大號升斗搖勻壓實，滿滿地倒給你們，因為你們用什麼樣的量器量給別人，上帝也會用什麼樣的量器量給你們。」
39耶穌又給他們講了個比喻，說：「瞎子豈能給瞎子帶路？二人豈不是要雙雙掉進坑裡嗎？ 40學生不會高過老師，學成之後不過像老師一樣。 41為什麼你只看見你弟兄眼中的小刺，卻看不見自己眼中的大樑呢？ 42你既看不見自己眼中的大樑，又怎能對弟兄說『讓我除去你眼中的小刺』呢？你這偽君子啊！要先除掉自己眼中的大樑，才能看得清楚，以便清除弟兄眼中的小刺。
樹和果子
43「好樹不結壞果子，壞樹也結不出好果子。 44樹的好壞從果子就可以分辨出來。人不會從荊棘中採集無花果，也不會在蒺藜上摘取葡萄。 45善人心存良善，就從他裡面發出良善；惡人心存邪惡，就從他裡面發出邪惡。因為心裡充滿的，口裡自然會說出來。
兩種蓋房子的人
46「你們為什麼『主啊，主啊』地稱呼我，卻不遵行我的話呢？ 47我要告訴你們那到我這裡來，聽了我的話又去遵行的人是什麼樣。 48他好比一個人蓋房子，把地挖深，根基立在磐石上。當河流氾濫，洪水沖擊房子時，房子卻屹立不搖，因為它的根基穩固。 49但聽了我的話卻不遵行的人，好比一個人沒有打根基，便將房子蓋在地面上，洪水一沖，房子立刻倒塌，完全毀壞了。」
1And it came to pass on the second sabbath after the first, that he went through the corn fields; and his disciples plucked the ears of corn, and did eat, rubbing them in their hands. 2And certain of the Pharisees said unto them, Why do ye that which is not lawful to do on the sabbath days? 3And Jesus answering them said, Have ye not read so much as this, what David did, when himself was an hungred, and they which were with him; 4How he went into the house of God, and did take and eat the shewbread, and gave also to them that were with him; which it is not lawful to eat but for the priests alone? 5And he said unto them, That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath. 6And it came to pass also on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue and taught: and there was a man whose right hand was withered. 7And the scribes and Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal on the sabbath day; that they might find an accusation against him. 8But he knew their thoughts, and said to the man which had the withered hand, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth. 9Then said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it? 10And looking round about upon them all, he said unto the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored whole as the other. 11And they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus. 12And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.
13¶ And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles; 14Simon, (whom he also named Peter,) and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew, 15Matthew and Thomas, James the son of Alphæus, and Simon called Zelotes, 16And Judas the brother of James, and Judas Iscariot, which also was the traitor.
17¶ And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judæa and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases; 18And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed. 19And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.
20¶ And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God. 21Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh. 22Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake. 23Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets. 24But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation. 25Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep. 26Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.
27¶ But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, 28Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. 29And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to take thy coat also. 30Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again. 31And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. 32For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them. 33And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same. 34And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. 35But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. 36Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. 37Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: 38Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. 39And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch? 40The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master. 41And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 42Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother’s eye. 43For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 44For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. 45A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
46¶ And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? 47Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: 48He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. 49But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.
