Иерусалим – бесполезное дерево
1Было ко мне слово Вечного:
2– Смертный, чем древесина виноградной лозы лучше древесины ветвей всех деревьев леса? 3Разве берут древесину виноградной лозы, чтобы сделать что-нибудь нужное? Разве делают из неё хотя бы колышки, чтобы развешивать вещи? 4А когда её бросают в огонь как топливо, и огонь сжигает оба её конца и обугливает середину, то годится ли она на что-нибудь после этого? 5Если она ни на что не годилась, когда была целой, то на что же она сгодится после того, как её поглотил огонь, и она обуглилась?
6Поэтому так говорит Владыка Вечный:
– Как Я отдал древесину виноградной лозы среди деревьев леса на пожирание огню, так поступлю Я и с жителями Иерусалима. 7Я обращу лицо Моё против них. Даже если они выберутся из огня, огонь всё равно поглотит их. И когда Я обращу против них Своё лицо, они узнают, что Я – Вечный. 8Я предам землю опустошению за то, что они нарушили верность, – возвещает Владыка Вечный.
1And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 2Son of man, What is the vine tree more than any tree, or than a branch which is among the trees of the forest? 3Shall wood be taken thereof to do any work? or will men take a pin of it to hang any vessel thereon? 4Behold, it is cast into the fire for fuel; the fire devoureth both the ends of it, and the midst of it is burned. 6¶ Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; As the vine tree among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so will I give the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 7And I will set my face against them; they shall go out from one fire, and another fire shall devour them; and ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I set my face against them. 8And I will make the land desolate, because they have committed a trespass, saith the Lord GOD.15.8 committed…: Heb. trespassed a trespass
