1Sa ika-24 nga adlaw sa mao gihapon nga bulan, nagtigom ang mga Israelinhon aron magpuasa. Nagbisti silag sako ug nagbutang ug abo sa ilang ulo sa pagpakita sa ilang pagsubo. 2Gilain nila ang ilang kaugalingon gikan sa mga dili Israelinhon. Nanindog sila ug gisulti nila ang ilang mga sala ug ang mga sala sa ilang mga katigulangan. 3Nagpabilin sila sa pagtindog sulod sa tulo ka oras samtang gibasa kanila ang Kasugoan sa Ginoo nga ilang Dios. Ug sulod sa laing tulo ka oras gisulti nila ang ilang mga sala ug nagsimba sa Ginoo nga ilang Dios. 4Ang mga Levita mitindog sa hagdanan ug nagaampo ug kusog sa Ginoo nga ilang Dios. Sila mao si Jeshua, Bani, Kadmiel, Shebania, Buni, Sherebia, ug Kenani. 5Unya ang mga Levita nga sila si Jeshua, Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabnea, Sherebia, Hodia, Shebania, ug Petahia miingon, “Tindog kamo ug dayega ang Ginoo nga inyong Dios sa walay kataposan!”9:5 sa walay kataposan: o, nga nagakinabuhi gikan kaniadto hangtod sa kahangtoran.
Unya miingon sila, “O Ginoo, dalaygon ang imong pagkagamhanan! Dili kini matupngan sa among mga pagdayeg. 6Ikaw lang ang Ginoo. Gihimo mo ang langit, ang yuta, ang dagat, ug ang tanang anaa niini. Ginahatagan mo ug kinabuhi ang tanan mong binuhat, ug ginasimba ka sa mga anghel sa langit.
7“Ikaw ang Ginoong Dios nga nagpili kang Abram ug nagdala kaniya pagawas sa Ur, nga sakop sa pagdumala sa mga Kaldeanhon.9:7 Kaldeanhon: Mga katawhan nga nagpuyo kaniadto sa habagatang bahin sa Babilonia. Sa kadugayan nahimong Kaldeanhon ang tawag sa mga taga-Babilonia. Ug ginganlan mo siyag Abraham. 8Nakita mo nga matinumanon siya kanimo, ug naghimo ka ug kasabotan kaniya nga imong ihatag sa iyang mga kaliwat ang yuta sa mga Canaanhon, Hitihanon, Amorihanon, Perisihanon, Jebusihanon, ug sa mga Gergasihanon. Ug gituman mo ang imong saad kanila, tungod kay matarong ka.
9“Nakita mo ang pag-antos sa among mga katigulangan sa Ehipto. Nadungog mo ang pagpangayo nilag tabang kanimo didto sa Pulang Dagat. 10Naghimo ka ug mga milagro ug mga katingalahang butang batok sa Faraon, ug sa tanan niyang mga opisyal ug katawhan, kay nahibaloan mo kon giunsa nila pagdaog-daog ang among mga katigulangan. Ug ang imong ngalan bantogan hangtod karon. 11Gitunga mo ang dagat atubangan sa imong katawhan aron makaagi sila sa yuta nga mala. Ug gisugo mo sila pinaagi sa imong alagad nga si Moises nga tumanon nila ang imong mga sugo, mga tulumanon, ug mga lagda. 15Sa dihang gigutom sila, gihatagan mo silag pagkaon gikan sa langit, ug sa dihang giuhaw sila, gipainom mo silag tubig gikan sa bato. Giingnan mo sila nga sudlon nila ug panag-iyahon ang yuta nga imong gisaad nga ihatag kanila. 16Apan sila nga among mga katigulangan mapahitas-on, gahig ulo, ug wala motuman sa imong mga sugo. 17Nagdumili sila sa pagpamati kanimo, ug gikalimtan nila ang mga milagro nga imong gihimo alang kanila. Nagmagahi sila, ug misupak kanimo pinaagi sa pagpili ug mga pangulo nga modala kanila pagbalik sa pagkaulipon sa Ehipto. Apan mapinasayloon ka nga Dios, maloloy-on, puno sa grasya, dili daling masuko, ug mahigugmaon. Busa wala mo sila isalikway 18bisan naghimo silag rebulto nga baka ug miingon, ‘Mao kini ang atong dios nga nagpagawas kanato gikan sa Ehipto.’ Labihan gayod ang ilang pagpasipala kanimo! 19Apan tungod sa imong dakong kalooy kanila, wala mo sila pasagdi sa disyerto. Wala nimo sila hikawi sa pagkaon sa manna, ug padayon mo silang gihatagan ug tubig alang sa ilang kauhaw. 21Giatiman mo sila sulod sa 40 ka tuig didto sa kamingawan, busa wala gayod sila makulangi sa ilang mga kinahanglanon. Wala modaan ang ilang mga bisti ug wala usab maluthi ang ilang mga tiil sa paglakaw.
22“Gitugyan mo kanila ang mga gingharian, mga nasod, ug ang mga yuta sa ilang palibot. Giilog nila ang yuta sa Heshbon nga gidumalahan ni Haring Sihon, ug ang yuta sa Basan nga gidumalahan ni Haring Og. 23Gipadaghan mo ang ilang mga kaliwat, sama sa mga bitoon sa langit. Gidala mo sila sa yuta nga imong gisaad sa ilang mga katigulangan nga ilang sudlon ug panag-iyahan. 24Busa gisulod nila kini ug gisakop. Gipapildi mo kanila ang mga Canaanhon nga nagpuyo niadtong yutaa. Gitugyan mo kanila ang mga Canaanhon apil ang ilang mga hari aron himuon nila ang gusto nilang himuon sa mga Canaanhon. 25Giilog sa imong katawhan ang pinarilan nga mga lungsod ug ang mabungahong mga yuta. Giilog usab nila ang mga balay nga puno sa maayong mga butang, mga atabay, mga ubasan, mga tamnanan sa olibo, ug ang mga punoan sa kahoy nga labihan kadaghan ug prutas. Nangaon sila kutob sa ilang gusto ug nanambok. Nagpakabuhong sila sa imong labihan nga kaayo nga gipakita kanila.
26“Apan luyo niini, misupak sila ug nagrebelde kanimo. Gitalikdan nila ang imong balaod ug gipatay nila ang imong mga propeta nga mipahimangno kanila aron sa pagpabalik kanila diha kanimo. Labihan gayod ang mga pagpasipala nga ilang gipanghimo! 27Busa gitugyan mo sila sa ilang mga kaaway nga naglisod-lisod kanila. Apan sa dihang nangayo sila ug tabang kanimo, gipamatian mo pa gihapon sila diha sa langit. Ug sa imong kalooy, gihatagan mo silag mga pangulo nga miluwas kanila gikan sa kamot sa ilang mga kaaway.
28“Apan kon maayo na ang ilang kahimtang, nagahimo na usab sila ug daotan sa imong atubangan. Unya gitugyan mo na usab sila sa kamot sa ilang mga kaaway aron dumalahan sila. Apan kon mangayo na usab sila sa imong tabang, mamati ka gihapon kanila diha sa langit. Ug sa imong kalooy ginaluwas mo sila kanunay. 29Gipahimangnoan mo sila aron motuman sila pagbalik sa imong Kasugoan. Apan nagmagahi sila ug wala nila tumana ang imong mga sugo. Nagpakasala sila batok sa imong mga sugo nga nagahatag ug tinuod nga kinabuhi sa nagatuman niini. Sa kagahi sa ilang mga ulo mitalikod sila kanimo, ug nagdumili sa pagpamati kanimo. 30Sulod sa daghang mga katuigan gipasensyahan mo sila ug gipahimangnoan sa imong Espiritu pinaagi sa mga propeta. Apan wala sila manumbaling. Busa gitugyan mo sila sa mga katawhan sa ilang palibot. 31Apan bisan pa niini, tungod sa dako mong kalooy, wala mo sila pasagdi o laglaga sa hingpit, kay maloloy-on ka nga Dios ug puno sa grasya.
32“Ikaw nga among Dios makagagahom, katingalahan, ug talahuron. Ginatuman mo ang imong kasabotan, ug ginapakita mo ang imong gugma. Karon, ayaw ipakawalay-bili ang among mga pag-antos. Nagaantos kami ug ang among mga hari, mga pangulo, mga pari, mga propeta, ug mga katigulangan, gikan pa sa panahon nga gidaog-daog kami sa mga hari sa Asiria hangtod karon. 33Matarong ang gihimo mong pagsilot kanamo. Nagmatinud-anon gayod ikaw kanamo, apan kami nagpakasala. 34Ang among mga hari, mga pangulo, mga pari, ug mga katigulangan wala motuman sa imong Kasugoan. Wala sila magtagad sa imong mga sugo ug mga pahimangno. 35Bisan aduna silay kaugalingong gingharian ug nakasinati sa imong dakong kaayo, ug bisan gihatagan mo sila sa halapad ug mabungahong yuta, wala gihapon sila moalagad kanimo o mobiya sa ilang daotang mga binuhatan. 36Mao nga karon nangaulipon kami dinhi niining yuta nga imong gihatag sa among mga katigulangan, diin makakaon unta sila sa mga abot niini ug makapahimulos sa uban pang mga kaayohan niini. 37Ang abunda nga mga abot sa yuta atua paingon sa mga hari nga gipadumala mo kanamo tungod sa among mga sala. Gihimo nila ang ilang gustong himuon kanamo ug sa among mga kahayopan. Ug labihan ang among pag-antos.”
Naghimo ug Kasabotan ang mga Tawo
38“Tungod niining tanan, kaming mga Judio naghimo ug usa ka lig-ong kasabotan. Gisulat kini ug giselyohan sa among mga pangulo, mga pari, ug mga Levita.”
1Now in the twenty and fourth day of this month the children of Israel were assembled with fasting, and with sackclothes, and earth upon them. 2And the seed of Israel separated themselves from all strangers, and stood and confessed their sins, and the iniquities of their fathers.9.2 strangers: Heb. strange children 3And they stood up in their place, and read in the book of the law of the LORD their God one fourth part of the day; and another fourth part they confessed, and worshipped the LORD their God.
4¶ Then stood up upon the stairs, of the Levites, Jeshua, and Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, and Chenani, and cried with a loud voice unto the LORD their God.9.4 stairs: or, scaffold 5Then the Levites, Jeshua, and Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabniah, Sherebiah, Hodijah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah, said, Stand up and bless the LORD your God for ever and ever: and blessed be thy glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise. 6Thou, even thou, art LORD alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee. 7Thou art the LORD the God, who didst choose Abram, and broughtest him forth out of Ur of the Chaldees, and gavest him the name of Abraham; 8And foundest his heart faithful before thee, and madest a covenant with him to give the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Jebusites, and the Girgashites, to give it, I say, to his seed, and hast performed thy words; for thou art righteous: 9And didst see the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and heardest their cry by the Red sea; 10And shewedst signs and wonders upon Pharaoh, and on all his servants, and on all the people of his land: for thou knewest that they dealt proudly against them. So didst thou get thee a name, as it is this day. 11And thou didst divide the sea before them, so that they went through the midst of the sea on the dry land; and their persecutors thou threwest into the deeps, as a stone into the mighty waters. 12Moreover thou leddest them in the day by a cloudy pillar; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage: but thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsookest them not.9.17 a God…: Heb. a God of pardons 18Yea, when they had made them a molten calf, and said, This is thy God that brought thee up out of Egypt, and had wrought great provocations; 19Yet thou in thy manifold mercies forsookest them not in the wilderness: the pillar of the cloud departed not from them by day, to lead them in the way; neither the pillar of fire by night, to shew them light, and the way wherein they should go. 20Thou gavest also thy good spirit to instruct them, and withheldest not thy manna from their mouth, and gavest them water for their thirst. 21Yea, forty years didst thou sustain them in the wilderness, so that they lacked nothing; their clothes waxed not old, and their feet swelled not. 22Moreover thou gavest them kingdoms and nations, and didst divide them into corners: so they possessed the land of Sihon, and the land of the king of Heshbon, and the land of Og king of Bashan. 23Their children also multipliedst thou as the stars of heaven, and broughtest them into the land, concerning which thou hadst promised to their fathers, that they should go in to possess it. 24So the children went in and possessed the land, and thou subduedst before them the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, and gavest them into their hands, with their kings, and the people of the land, that they might do with them as they would.9.24 as they…: Heb. according to their will 25And they took strong cities, and a fat land, and possessed houses full of all goods, wells digged, vineyards, and oliveyards, and fruit trees in abundance: so they did eat, and were filled, and became fat, and delighted themselves in thy great goodness.9.25 wells: or, cisterns9.25 fruit…: Heb. tree of food 26Nevertheless they were disobedient, and rebelled against thee, and cast thy law behind their backs, and slew thy prophets which testified against them to turn them to thee, and they wrought great provocations. 27Therefore thou deliveredst them into the hand of their enemies, who vexed them: and in the time of their trouble, when they cried unto thee, thou heardest them from heaven; and according to thy manifold mercies thou gavest them saviours, who saved them out of the hand of their enemies. 28But after they had rest, they did evil again before thee: therefore leftest thou them in the hand of their enemies, so that they had the dominion over them: yet when they returned, and cried unto thee, thou heardest them from heaven; for thou hast done right, but we have done wickedly: 34Neither have our kings, our princes, our priests, nor our fathers, kept thy law, nor hearkened unto thy commandments and thy testimonies, wherewith thou didst testify against them. 35For they have not served thee in their kingdom, and in thy great goodness that thou gavest them, and in the large and fat land which thou gavest before them, neither turned they from their wicked works. 36Behold, we are servants this day, and for the land that thou gavest unto our fathers to eat the fruit thereof and the good thereof, behold, we are servants in it: 37And it yieldeth much increase unto the kings whom thou hast set over us because of our sins: also they have dominion over our bodies, and over our cattle, at their pleasure, and we are in great distress. 38And because of all this we make a sure covenant, and write it; and our princes, Levites, and priests, seal unto it.9.38 seal: Heb. are at the sealing, or, sealed
