Walay Kapuslanan ang Tanan
1Mao kini ang gipamulong sa usa ka magwawali1:1 magwawali: o, magtutudlo, o, maalamon nga tawo. nga anak ni David ug hari sa Jerusalem:
2Walay kapuslanan! Wala gayoy kapuslanan ang tanan! 3Unsay makuha sa tawo sa iyang paghago dinhi sa kalibotan? 4Mahanaw ang usa ka henerasyon ug mopuli usab ang lain, apan ang kalibotan mao lang gihapon. 5Mosidlak ang adlaw ug unya mosalop, unya magdali kini pagbalik sa dapit nga iyang gigikanan aron mosidlak pag-usab. 6Mohuyop ang hangin ngadto sa habagatan ug unya ngadto sa amihan; magtuyok-tuyok lang kini ug magbalik-balik. 7Ang tanang suba nagadagayday padulong sa dagat, apan wala kini nagakapuno bisan walay hunong ang pagdagayday sa mga suba.1:7 bisan walay hunong ang pagdagayday sa mga suba: o, unya nagabalik ang tubig sa iyang gigikanan ug nagadagayday pabalik sa dagat. 8Kining tanang mga butanga makalaay—kalaay nga dili ikasaysay. Dili matagbaw ang atong mga mata ug mga dalunggan sa atong makita ug madungog. 9Ang nahitabo kaniadto mahitabo pag-usab. Ang gihimo kaniadto himuon pag-usab. Wala gayoy bag-o nga nagakahitabo sa kalibotan. 10May butang pa ba nga imong maingon nga bag-o? Nahitabo na kana kaniadto sa wala pa kita matawo. 11Wala nay nahinumdom sa nanglabay nga mga panghitabo; mao man usab ang mosunod nga mga panghitabo, dili usab kini mahinumdoman sa mga tawo sa umaabot nga henerasyon.
Ang Kaalam sa Tawo Walay Kapuslanan
12Ako nga usa ka magwawali naghari sa Israel, ug nagpuyo ako sa Jerusalem. 13Sa akong kaalam, gitun-an ko gayod pag-ayo ang tanang nagakahitabo dinhi sa kalibotan. Usa kini ka pait nga kapalaran nga gihatag sa Dios ngadto sa mga tawo. 14Nakita ko ang tanang ginahimo dinhi sa kalibotan, ug kining tanan walay kapuslanan; sama kini ka walay pulos sa paggukod ug hangin. 15Ang baliko dili matul-id, ug dili maihap ang wala diha.
16Miingon ako sa akong kaugalingon, “Mas maalamon gayod ako kay sa tanang naghari sa Jerusalem una kanako. Daghan gayod akog nahibaloan.” 17Gitun-an ko pag-ayo ang kalainan sa kaalam ug binuang, apan nasuta ko nga kini walay kapuslanan; sama lang kini sa nagagukod ka sa hangin. 18Kay sa magkadugang ang kahibalo ug kaalam, magdugang usab ang kasakit ug pag-antos.
1The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem. 2Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity. 3What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun?

9The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. 10Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us. 11There is no remembrance of former things; neither shall there be any remembrance of things that are to come with those that shall come after.
12¶ I the Preacher was king over Israel in Jerusalem. 13And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all things that are done under heaven: this sore travail hath God given to the sons of man to be exercised therewith.1.13 to be…: or, to afflict them 14I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit. 15That which is crooked cannot be made straight: and that which is wanting cannot be numbered.1.15 that which is wanting: Heb. defect 16I communed with mine own heart, saying, Lo, I am come to great estate, and have gotten more wisdom than all they that have been before me in Jerusalem: yea, my heart had great experience of wisdom and knowledge.1.16 had…: Heb. had seen much 17And I gave my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also is vexation of spirit. 18For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.
