Ang Mensahe bahin sa Babilonia
1Mao kini ang gisulti sa Ginoo kang Jeremias bahin sa Babilonia ug sa katawhan niini:
2“Ipahibalo ngadto sa mga nasod ang balita! Ipataas ang bandera ug ipahibalo sa tanan. Malaglag ang Babilonia! Mangadugmok ug maulawan ang iyang mga dios-dios apil na si Bel ug si Marduk. 3Kay sulongon ang Babilonia sa usa ka nasod nga gikan sa amihan, ug maawaaw kini. Wala nay magpuyo niini kay mangikyas ang mga tawo ug mga kahayopan.
4“Ako, ang Ginoo, nagaingon nga nianang higayona, ang katawhan sa Israel ug Juda maghilak nga modangop kanako, ang Ginoo nga ilang Dios. 5Mangutana sila kon asa ang dalan paingon sa Jerusalem50:5 Jerusalem: sa Hebreo, Zion. Mao usab sa bersikulo 28. ug mangadto sila didto. Unya maghimo silag kasabotan nga walay kataposan uban kanako, ug dili gayod nila kini makalimtan.
6“Ang akong katawhan nahisama sa mga karnero nga nawala. Gipasagdan sila sa ilang mga tigbantay nga mahisalaag didto sa bukid ug bungtod ug nalimot na sila sa pagpauli. 7Atakihon sila sa makakita kanila. Moingon ang ilang mga kaaway, ‘Nakasala sila sa Ginoo nga maoy ilang tinuod nga tig-atiman ug ang paglaom sa ilang mga katigulangan, busa wala kitay tulubagon sa atong pag-ataki kanila.’
8“Kagiw kamo gikan sa Babilonia! Biyai ninyo kana nga nasod! Pag-una kamo sa pagbiya sama sa laking kanding nga nangulo sa panon! 9Kay ipasulong ko ang Babilonia sa grupo sa gamhanang mga nasod gikan sa amihan. Sulongon nila ang Babilonia ug mailog nila kini. Hanas sila nga mga mamamana ug dili gayod mosipyat. 10Ilogon nila ang mga kabtangan sa Babilonia, ug magpatuyang silag kuha sa ilang gusto. Ako, ang Ginoo, ang nagaingon niini.
11“Katawhan sa Babilonia, giilogan ninyo sa mga kabtangan ang katawhan nga akong gipanag-iyahan. Naglipay kamo ug nagsadya nga daw mga dumalagang baka sa sabsabanan o sa laking kabayo nga nagbahihi. 12Apan pakaulawan ko gayod ang inyong nasod.50:12 nasod: sa literal, inahan. Mahimo kining labing ubos sa tanang nasod, ug mahimong usa ka awaaw ug disyerto. 13Tungod sa akong kasuko, wala gayoy mopuyo sa Babilonia ug maawaaw gayod kini nga dapit. Ang tanang moagi bation ug kahadlok ug mopadayag sa ilang pagtamay tungod sa tanang mahitabo niini nga nasod.
14“Kamo nga mga mamamana, pwesto na kamo libot sa Babilonia. Ihurot pagpana ngadto kaniya ang inyong mga udyong kay nakasala siya sa Ginoo. 15Paninggit kamo batok kaniya sa tanang direksyon. Tan-awa! Misurender na ang Babilonia! Nangalumpag na ang iyang mga tore ug nangaguba na ang iyang mga paril. Panimalos kini sa Ginoo kaniya, busa panimasli ninyo siya ug buhata kaniya ang gibuhat niya ngadto sa uban. 16Puoha sa Babilonia ang mga mananomay ug mga mangangani. Luwasa ang mga binihag gikan sa espada sa mga kaaway ug papaulia sila sa ilang kaugalingong mga dapit.
17“Ang mga Israelinhon sama sa nahisalaag nga mga karnero nga gigukod sa mga liyon. Una, gitukob sila sa hari sa Asiria, ug unya gikitkit ni Nebucadnezar nga hari sa Babilonia ang ilang mga bukog.
18“Busa ako, ang Ginoo nga Makagagahom, ang Dios sa Israel nagaingon, ‘Silotan ko ang hari sa Babilonia, maingon nga gisilotan ko ang hari sa Asiria. 19Apan pabalikon ko ang mga Israelinhon sa ilang nasod. Mahisama sila sa mga karnero nga mangaon sa Carmel, sa Basan, ug sa mga kabungtoran sa Efraim ug Gilead, ug matagbaw gayod sila. 20Nianang higayona, mahanaw na ang mga sala ug kalapasan sa nahibiling mga katawhan sa Israel ug Juda, kay pasayloon ko sila. Ako, ang Ginoo, ang nagaingon niini.’ ”
Ang Silot sa Ginoo ngadto sa Babilonia
21Miingon pa gayod ang Ginoo, “Sulonga ninyo ang Merataim ug ang Pekod. Pamatya sila ug laglaga sa hingpit. Buhata ang tanang gisugo ko kaninyo. 22Madungog ang singgit sa gira ug ang kasaba sa labihan nga pagkagun-ob sa tibuok yuta. 23Ang Babilonia sama sa martilyo nga midugmok sa mga nasod, apan karon nadugmok na kini. Nahadlok ang tanang nasod sa nahitabo niini!
24“Babilonia, nagbutang akog lit-ag alang kanimo ug wala ka makamatikod nga nalit-agan ka na. Nadakpan ka kay nakigbatok ka kanako. 25Giablihan ko ang tipiganan sa akong mga armas ug gipagawas ko ang mga armas nga akong gamiton sa pagpahamtang sa akong kasuko. Kay ako, ang Ginoong Dios nga Makagagahom, may buluhaton diha kanimo, Babilonia!
26“Mga kaaway sa Babilonia nga naggikan sa layong dapit, sulonga ninyo ang Babilonia. Ablihi ninyo ang iyang mga bodega. Tapoka ninyo ang mga kabtangan nga inyong nailog nga daw nagtapok kamo ug trigo. Laglaga ninyo sa hingpit ang mga taga-Babilonia. Kinahanglan walay mahibiling buhi. 27Pamatya ninyo ang tanan nilang mga sundalo nga pareho sa toriyong baka. Alaot sila kay miabot na ang panahon nga silotan sila.
28“Paminawa ang mga tawo nga nakaikyas gikan sa Babilonia. Nagasugilon sila didto sa Jerusalem kon giunsa pagpanimalos sa Ginoo nga atong Dios ang Babilonia tungod sa ilang gihimo sa iyang templo.
29“Ipasulong ninyo sa mga mamamana ang Babilonia. Paliboti ninyo kini aron walay makaikyas. Balosi ninyo siya sumala sa iyang gibuhat. Buhata ngadto kaniya ang iyang gibuhat ngadto sa uban, kay misukol siya sa Ginoo, ang Balaan nga Dios sa Israel. 30Busa mangamatay ang iyang mga batan-ong lalaki diha sa kadalanan, apil ang tanan niyang mga sundalo.
31“Ako, ang Ginoong Dios nga Makagagahom, nagaingon nga kaaway ko ikaw, Babilonia nga mapahitas-on! Miabot na ang panahon nga silotan ko ikaw. 32Malaglag ka gayod, mapahitas-on nga nasod, ug walay mopabangon kanimo. Sunogon ko ang imong mga lungsod ug ang tanang lungsod libot niini.”
33Nagaingon pa gayod ang Ginoo nga Makagagahom, “Gidaog-daog ang katawhan sa Israel ug Juda. Gibihag sila ug gibantayan pag-ayo ug dili gayod hatagag kagawasan. 34Apan gamhanan ako nga ilang Manluluwas; Ginoo nga Makagagahom ang akong ngalan. Labanan ko sila aron mahatagag kalinaw ug kapahulayan ang kalibotan. Apan guboton ko ang mga lumulupyo sa Babilonia.
35“Ako, ang Ginoo, nagaingon nga ipahamtang ang espada sa kalaglagan ngadto sa katawhan sa Babilonia, sa iyang mga opisyal, ug sa mga maalamon. 36Ipahamtang usab kini ngadto sa iyang mga bakakong propeta ug ngadto sa iyang mga sundalo. Ug mahimo silang mga buang-buang ug mangalisang gayod sila. 37Ipahamtang pa gayod kini ngadto sa iyang mga kabayo ug mga karwahe, ug sa tanang dumuduong nga kaabin niya. Ug mahimo silang sama sa babaye! Ipahamtang usab kini ngadto sa iyang mga bahandi, ug ilogon kini. 38Mahiagom sa hulaw ang tanan niyang katubigan. Tungod kay ang Babilonia dapit nga daghag mga dios-dios ug nalingla ang mga tawo niining makalilisang nga mga dios-dios.
39“Mga ihalas nga mga mananap, ihalas nga mga iro,50:39 ihalas nga mga iro: sa English, hyenas. ug langgam na lang ang magpuyo sa Babilonia. Dili na gayod kini puy-an pag-usab sa mga tawo hangtod sa hangtod. 40Maingon nga gilaglag ko ang Sodoma ug Gomora, ug ang mga lungsod sa palibot niini, laglagon ko usab ang Babilonia. Wala na gayoy magpuyo didto. Ako, ang Ginoo, ang nagaingon niini.
41“Tan-awa! May moabot nga mga sundalo gikan sa amihan. Usa ka gamhanang nasod ug daghang mga hari nga gikan sa layong dapit ang nangandam sa pagpakiggira sa Babilonia. 42Armado sila sa mga pana ug mga bangkaw. Bangis sila ug walay kalooy. Ang ilang kasaba sama sa dahunog sa makusog nga balod samtang nagasakay sila sa ilang mga kabayo. Moabot sila nga andam na sa pagsulong kaninyo nga mga lumulupyo sa Babilonia. 43Madunggan kini sa hari sa Babilonia, ug manghuyhoy ang iyang mga abaga. Bation niya ang kaguol ug kasakit nga sama sa bation sa babayeng nagbati.
44“Pakalitan kog sulong ang Babilonia, sama sa liyon nga gikan sa kalasangan duol sa Suba sa Jordan nga migukod sa mga karnero sa sabsabanan. Patibulaagon ko sila ug padumalahan ko ang Babilonia sa tawo nga akong pilion. Kinsay ikatandi kanako? Kinsay mangahas pagsukol kanako? Kinsa nga pangulo ang makigbatok kanako? 45Busa paminawa ang giplano ko nga buhaton batok sa Babilonia. Ang ilang mga kabataan bihagon, ug ang ilang yuta laglagon tungod sa ilang gibuhat. 46Matay-og ang yuta sa linagubo sa pagkalaglag sa Babilonia, ug ang ilang pagtiyabaw madungog sa ubang mga nasod.”
1The word that the LORD spake against Babylon and against the land of the Chaldeans by Jeremiah the prophet.50.1 by…: Heb. by the hand of Jeremiah 2Declare ye among the nations, and publish, and set up a standard; publish, and conceal not: say, Babylon is taken, Bel is confounded, Merodach is broken in pieces; her idols are confounded, her images are broken in pieces.50.2 set up: Heb. lift up 3For out of the north there cometh up a nation against her, which shall make her land desolate, and none shall dwell therein: they shall remove, they shall depart, both man and beast.
4¶ In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together, going and weeping: they shall go, and seek the LORD their God. 5They shall ask the way to Zion with their faces thitherward, saying, Come, and let us join ourselves to the LORD in a perpetual covenant that shall not be forgotten. 6My people hath been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their restingplace.50.6 restingplace: Heb. place to lie down in 7All that found them have devoured them: and their adversaries said, We offend not, because they have sinned against the LORD, the habitation of justice, even the LORD, the hope of their fathers. 8Remove out of the midst of Babylon, and go forth out of the land of the Chaldeans, and be as the he goats before the flocks.
9¶ For, lo, I will raise and cause to come up against Babylon an assembly of great nations from the north country: and they shall set themselves in array against her; from thence she shall be taken: their arrows shall be as of a mighty expert man; none shall return in vain.50.9 expert…: or, destroyer 10And Chaldea shall be a spoil: all that spoil her shall be satisfied, saith the LORD. 11Because ye were glad, because ye rejoiced, O ye destroyers of mine heritage, because ye are grown fat as the heifer at grass, and bellow as bulls;50.11 fat: Heb. big, or, corpulent50.11 bellow…: or, neigh as steeds 12Your mother shall be sore confounded; she that bare you shall be ashamed: behold, the hindermost of the nations shall be a wilderness, a dry land, and a desert. 13Because of the wrath of the LORD it shall not be inhabited, but it shall be wholly desolate: every one that goeth by Babylon shall be astonished, and hiss at all her plagues. 14Put yourselves in array against Babylon round about: all ye that bend the bow, shoot at her, spare no arrows: for she hath sinned against the LORD. 15Shout against her round about: she hath given her hand: her foundations are fallen, her walls are thrown down: for it is the vengeance of the LORD: take vengeance upon her; as she hath done, do unto her. 16Cut off the sower from Babylon, and him that handleth the sickle in the time of harvest: for fear of the oppressing sword they shall turn every one to his people, and they shall flee every one to his own land.50.16 sickle: or, scythe
17¶ Israel is a scattered sheep; the lions have driven him away: first the king of Assyria hath devoured him; and last this Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath broken his bones. 18Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, as I have punished the king of Assyria. 19And I will bring Israel again to his habitation, and he shall feed on Carmel and Bashan, and his soul shall be satisfied upon mount Ephraim and Gilead. 20In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found: for I will pardon them whom I reserve.
21¶ Go up against the land of Merathaim, even against it, and against the inhabitants of Pekod: waste and utterly destroy after them, saith the LORD, and do according to all that I have commanded thee.50.21 of Merathaim: or, of the rebels50.21 Pekod: or, Visitation 22A sound of battle is in the land, and of great destruction. 23How is the hammer of the whole earth cut asunder and broken! how is Babylon become a desolation among the nations! 24I have laid a snare for thee, and thou art also taken, O Babylon, and thou wast not aware: thou art found, and also caught, because thou hast striven against the LORD. 25The LORD hath opened his armoury, and hath brought forth the weapons of his indignation: for this is the work of the Lord GOD of hosts in the land of the Chaldeans. 26Come against her from the utmost border, open her storehouses: cast her up as heaps, and destroy her utterly: let nothing of her be left.50.26 from…: Heb. from the end50.26 cast…: or, tread her 27Slay all her bullocks; let them go down to the slaughter: woe unto them! for their day is come, the time of their visitation. 28The voice of them that flee and escape out of the land of Babylon, to declare in Zion the vengeance of the LORD our God, the vengeance of his temple. 29Call together the archers against Babylon: all ye that bend the bow, camp against it round about; let none thereof escape: recompense her according to her work; according to all that she hath done, do unto her: for she hath been proud against the LORD, against the Holy One of Israel. 30Therefore shall her young men fall in the streets, and all her men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the LORD. 31Behold, I am against thee, O thou most proud, saith the Lord GOD of hosts: for thy day is come, the time that I will visit thee.50.31 most…: Heb. pride 32And the most proud shall stumble and fall, and none shall raise him up: and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall devour all round about him.50.32 the…: Heb. pride
33¶ Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The children of Israel and the children of Judah were oppressed together: and all that took them captives held them fast; they refused to let them go. 34Their Redeemer is strong; the LORD of hosts is his name: he shall throughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the land, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.
35¶ A sword is upon the Chaldeans, saith the LORD, and upon the inhabitants of Babylon, and upon her princes, and upon her wise men. 36A sword is upon the liars; and they shall dote: a sword is upon her mighty men; and they shall be dismayed.50.36 liars: or, chief stays: Heb. bars 37A sword is upon their horses, and upon their chariots, and upon all the mingled people that are in the midst of her; and they shall become as women: a sword is upon her treasures; and they shall be robbed. 38A drought is upon her waters; and they shall be dried up: for it is the land of graven images, and they are mad upon their idols. 39Therefore the wild beasts of the desert with the wild beasts of the islands shall dwell there, and the owls shall dwell therein: and it shall be no more inhabited for ever; neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation. 40As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the LORD; so shall no man abide there, neither shall any son of man dwell therein. 41Behold, a people shall come from the north, and a great nation, and many kings shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth. 42They shall hold the bow and the lance: they are cruel, and will not shew mercy: their voice shall roar like the sea, and they shall ride upon horses, every one put in array, like a man to the battle, against thee, O daughter of Babylon. 43The king of Babylon hath heard the report of them, and his hands waxed feeble: anguish took hold of him, and pangs as of a woman in travail. 44Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan unto the habitation of the strong: but I will make them suddenly run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before me?50.44 appoint me…: or, convent me to plead? 45Therefore hear ye the counsel of the LORD, that he hath taken against Babylon; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the land of the Chaldeans: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their habitation desolate with them. 46At the noise of the taking of Babylon the earth is moved, and the cry is heard among the nations.
