1May gisulti ang Ginoo kang Jeremias mahitungod sa tanang mga Judio sa Ehipto nga nagpuyo sa mga lungsod sa Migdol, sa Tahpanhes, sa Memphis, ug sa habagatang bahin sa Ehipto.44:1 habagatang bahin sa Ehipto: o, sa yuta sa Patros. 2Mao kini ang gisulti sa Ginoo nga Makagagahom, ang Dios sa Israel: “Nakita ninyo ang grabe nga katalagman nga gipadala ko sa Jerusalem ug sa tanang lungsod sa Juda. Guba na kini ug wala nay namuyo 3tungod sa kadaotang gihimo sa ilang mga lumulupyo. Gipalagot nila ako pinaagi sa pagsunog ug insenso ug pagsimba sa ubang mga dios nga wala gani nila o sa ilang mga katigulangan mailhi. 4Kanunay akong nagpadala sa akong mga alagad nga mga propeta sa pagpahimangno kanila nga dili nila buhaton kining mangil-ad nga butang nga akong gikalagotan. 5Apan wala gayod sila mamati o motuman sa mga propeta. Wala sila mobiya sa ilang pagkadaotan ni moundang sa pagsunog ug insenso ngadto sa ubang mga dios. 6Busa gipatagamtam ko kanila ang akong labihan nga kasuko. Daw sa kalayo kini nga milamoy sa mga lungsod sa Juda apil na ang Jerusalem, ug nahimo kining awaaw hangtod karon.
7“Busa ako, ang Ginoong Dios nga Makagagahom, ang Dios sa Israel mangutana, ‘Nganong sakiton man gayod ninyo ang inyong kaugalingon? Gusto ba kamo nga mahurot ang mga tawo sa Juda—ang mga kalalakin-an, kababayen-an, kabataan, ug ang mga masuso? 8Nganong gipalagot man ninyo ako sa inyong gihimo nga mga dios? Ginasunogan pa ninyo kinig insenso dinhi sa Ehipto, diin kamo nagapuyo karon. Niining inyong gibuhat, malaglag kamo. Ginalaglag lang ninyo ang inyong kaugalingon ug ginahimo nga kangil-aran ug kaulawan sa tanang nasod sa kalibotan. 9Nalimot na ba kamo sa mga daotang binuhatan sa inyong mga katigulangan ug sa mga hari ug rayna sa Juda, ug ang inyo mismong kadaotan apil ang kadaotan sa inyong mga asawa didto sa Jerusalem ug sa ubang bahin sa Juda? 10Hangtod karon wala pa gihapon kamo magpaubos sa inyong kaugalingon ug wala motahod kanako. Wala usab kamo motuman sa akong balaod ug sa mga kasugoan nga akong gihatag kaninyo ug sa inyong mga katigulangan.’
11“Busa ako, ang Ginoo nga Makagagahom, ang Dios sa Israel, andam na sa paglaglag sa tibuok Juda ug kaninyo. 12Kamong nahibiling buhi sa Juda nga gusto gayong moadto ug mopuyo sa Ehipto, mamatay kamong tanan, gikan sa labing ubos hangtod sa labing dungganon. Oo, mangamatay kamo sa gira ug kagutom didto sa Ehipto. Panghimaraoton kamo ug malisang ang mga tawo tungod kaninyo. Biay-biayon nila kamo ug tunglohon. 13Himuon ko diha kaninyo sa Ehipto ang sama sa akong gihimo ngadto sa Jerusalem. Silotan ko usab kamo pinaagi sa gira, kagutom, ug balatian. 14Mamatay gayod kamong tanang nahibiling mga taga-Juda nga namuyo sa Ehipto. Dili na kamo makabalik pa sa Juda, diin gusto kamong mobalik pagpuyo. Walay makabalik kaninyo nga luwas, gawas sa pipila nga makaikyas.”
15Daghan kaayong mga Judio ang nagtigom sa pagpatalinghog kang Jeremias. Kini sila mga lumulupyo sa amihan ug habagatang bahin sa Ehipto. Unya, ang tanang mga lalaki nga nasayod nga ang ilang mga asawa nagasunog ug insenso sa ubang mga dios, ug ang tanang mga babaye nga atua didto, miingon kang Jeremias, 16“Dili kami motuo sa gisulti mo sa ngalan sa Ginoo! 17Buhaton gayod namo ang tanang gusto namong buhaton: magsunog kami ug insenso sa Rayna sa Langit ug maghalad kaniya ug halad nga ilimnon sama sa gihimo namo sa mga lungsod sa Juda ug sa kadalanan sa Jerusalem. Mao usab kini ang gihimo sa among mga katigulangan ug sa among mga hari ug mga opisyal. Niadtong mga panahona maayo ang among kahimtang; daghan kamig pagkaon ug walay daotang nahitabo kanamo. 18Apan sa dihang miundang kami sa pagsunog ug insenso ngadto sa Rayna sa Langit ug wala na maghalad ug halad nga ilimnon kaniya, nawad-an na hinuon kami sa tanan. Ug daghan kanamo ang nangamatay sa gira ug kagutom.”
19“Sa matag higayon nga magsunog kamig insenso ngadto sa Rayna sa Langit, maghalad ug halad nga ilimnon kaniya, ug magluto ug pan nga giporma sa iyang dagway, nasayod niini ang among mga bana.”
20Unya miingon si Jeremias kanilang tanan—sa mga kalalakin-an ug mga kababayen-an nga mihatag kaniya sa maong tubag, 21“Naghunahuna ba kamo nga wala masayod ang Ginoo nga kamo ug ang inyong mga katigulangan, ang inyong mga hari ug mga opisyal, ug ang tanan nga lumulupyo nagasunog ug insenso sa mga lungsod sa Juda ug sa mga kadalanan sa Jerusalem? 22Sa dihang wala na makaagwanta ang Ginoo sa inyong kadaotan ug sa inyong mangil-ad nga mga buhat, gilaglag niya ang inyong yuta, gigamit ang ngalan niini sa pagpanghimaraot, ug nahimo kining awaaw ug wala nay nagpuyo, sama sa nahitabo karon. 23Nahitabo kini nga katalagman kaninyo tungod kay nagsunog kamog insenso ug nagpakasala sa Ginoo. Wala kamo motuman sa iyang balaod ni mosunod sa iyang mga sugo ug mga pahimangno.”
24Midugang pa si Jeremias sa pag-ingon sa tanang mga tawo, apil ang mga kababayen-an didto, “Paminawa ninyo ang pulong sa Ginoo, kamong katawhan sa Juda nga nagpuyo sa Ehipto. 25Mao kini ang gisulti sa Ginoo nga Makagagahom, ang Dios sa Israel: ‘Gituman gayod ninyo ug sa inyong mga asawa ang inyong gisaad nga magsunog ug insenso ug maghalad ug halad nga ilimnon ngadto sa Rayna sa Langit. Sige! Padayona ninyo ang inyong gihimo. Tumana gayod ninyo ang inyong gipanaad. 26Apan patalinghogi ninyo ang akong isulti, kamong katawhan sa Juda nga namuyo sa Ehipto. Gipanumpa ko sa akong kaugalingon nga wala na kaninyoy makagamit sa akong gamhanang ngalan. Dili ako motugot nga gamiton ninyo ang akong ngalan sa pagpanumpa ug sama niini, “Ipanumpa ko sa ngalan sa buhi nga Ginoong Dios.” 27Kay imbis nga bantayan ko kamo alang sa inyong kaayohan, silotan ko kamo. Mangamatay kamo sa Ehipto pinaagi sa gira o kagutom hangtod nga wala nay mahibilin kaninyo. 28Kon may mahibilin man sa gira ug makabalik sa Juda, gamay lang kaayo. Unya masayod ang nahibiling mga katawhan sa Juda nga namuyo sa Ehipto kon kang kinsang pulong ang matuman, ako ba o ila. 29Mao kini ang ilhanan nga silotan ko gayod kamo niining dapita, aron masayod kamo nga matuman gayod ang katalagman nga gisulti ko batok kaninyo: 30Itugyan ko si Faraon Hofra nga hari sa Ehipto sa kamot sa iyang mga kaaway nga gustong mopatay kaniya, maingon nga gitugyan ko si Zedekia nga hari sa Juda ngadto sa iyang kaaway nga si Nebucadnezar nga hari sa Babilonia nga gusto usab nga mopatay kaniya.’ ”
1The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews which dwell in the land of Egypt, which dwell at Migdol, and at Tahpanhes, and at Noph, and in the country of Pathros, saying, 2Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Ye have seen all the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, and upon all the cities of Judah; and, behold, this day they are a desolation, and no man dwelleth therein, 3Because of their wickedness which they have committed to provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense, and to serve other gods, whom they knew not, neither they, ye, nor your fathers. 4Howbeit I sent unto you all my servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, saying, Oh, do not this abominable thing that I hate. 5But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear to turn from their wickedness, to burn no incense unto other gods. 6Wherefore my fury and mine anger was poured forth, and was kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are wasted and desolate, as at this day. 7Therefore now thus saith the LORD, the God of hosts, the God of Israel; Wherefore commit ye this great evil against your souls, to cut off from you man and woman, child and suckling, out of Judah, to leave you none to remain;44.7 out…: Heb. out of the midst of Judah 8In that ye provoke me unto wrath with the works of your hands, burning incense unto other gods in the land of Egypt, whither ye be gone to dwell, that ye might cut yourselves off, and that ye might be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth? 9Have ye forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, and the wickedness of the kings of Judah, and the wickedness of their wives, and your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives, which they have committed in the land of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem?44.9 wickedness…: Heb. wickednesses, or, punishments, etc 10They are not humbled even unto this day, neither have they feared, nor walked in my law, nor in my statutes, that I set before you and before your fathers.44.10 humbled: Heb. contrite
11¶ Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will set my face against you for evil, and to cut off all Judah. 12And I will take the remnant of Judah, that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, and they shall all be consumed, and fall in the land of Egypt; they shall even be consumed by the sword and by the famine: they shall die, from the least even unto the greatest, by the sword and by the famine: and they shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach. 13For I will punish them that dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence: 14So that none of the remnant of Judah, which are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall escape or remain, that they should return into the land of Judah, to the which they have a desire to return to dwell there: for none shall return but such as shall escape.44.14 have…: Heb. lift up their soul
15¶ Then all the men which knew that their wives had burned incense unto other gods, and all the women that stood by, a great multitude, even all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying, 16As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the LORD, we will not hearken unto thee. 17But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil.44.17 queen…: or, frame of heaven44.17 victuals: Heb. bread 18But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine. 19And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men?44.19 men: or, husbands?
20¶ Then Jeremiah said unto all the people, to the men, and to the women, and to all the people which had given him that answer, saying, 21The incense that ye burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, ye, and your fathers, your kings, and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the LORD remember them, and came it not into his mind? 22So that the LORD could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which ye have committed; therefore is your land a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day. 23Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day. 24Moreover Jeremiah said unto all the people, and to all the women, Hear the word of the LORD, all Judah that are in the land of Egypt: 25Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying; Ye and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with your hand, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her: ye will surely accomplish your vows, and surely perform your vows. 26Therefore hear ye the word of the LORD, all Judah that dwell in the land of Egypt; Behold, I have sworn by my great name, saith the LORD, that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, The Lord GOD liveth. 27Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them. 28Yet a small number that escape the sword shall return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah, and all the remnant of Judah, that are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall know whose words shall stand, mine, or theirs.44.28 mine…: Heb. from me, or, from them
29¶ And this shall be a sign unto you, saith the LORD, that I will punish you in this place, that ye may know that my words shall surely stand against you for evil: 30Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give Pharaoh-hophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies, and into the hand of them that seek his life; as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, his enemy, and that sought his life.
