Ang Buak nga Banga
1Miingon ang Ginoo kanako, “Pagpalit ug banga gikan sa tighimog kolon. Unya, uban sa mga tigdumala sa katawhan ug mga tigdumala sa mga pari, 2pangadto kamo sa Kapatagan sa Ben Hinnom, duol sa Pultahan sa Buak nga Kolon. Ug didto ipahayag ang akong isulti kanimo. 3Mao kini ang imong isulti, ‘Kamong mga hari sa Juda ug katawhan sa Jerusalem, paminawa ang mensahe sa Ginoo nga Makagagahom, ang Dios sa Israel. Mao kini ang iyang giingon: Magpadala akog kalaglagan niini nga dapit nga makapakurat19:3 makapakurat: sa literal, makapagilok sa dalunggan. gayod ni bisan kinsa nga makadungog niini. 4Buhaton ko kini, kay gisalikway ako sa akong katawhan, ug kini nga kapatagan gihimo nilang halaran sa mga halad nga sinunog alang sa ubang dios—mga dios nga wala gani sila o ang ilang mga katigulangan, ni ang mga hari sa Juda makaila. Gipabaha19:4 Gipabaha: sa literal, Gipuno. nila niining lugara ang dugo sa mga inosenteng kabataan. 5Nagpatukod silag mga halaran alang kang Baal, nga sunogan nila sa ilang mga kabataan ingon nga mga halad nga sinunog ngadto kaniya. Wala gayod ako maghisgot ni magsugo niini kanila; wala gani kini mosantop sa akong hunahuna. 6Busa, pangandam kamo, kay ako, ang Ginoo, nagaingon nga moabot ang panahon nga ang mga tawo dili na motawag niini nga dapit nga Tofet o Kapatagan sa Ben Hinnom, kondili Kapatagan nga Ihawanan. 7Dinhi mismo niining dapita gub-on ko ang plano sa Jerusalem ug sa ubang bahin sa Juda. Ipapatay ko sila sa ilang mga kaaway pinaagi sa gira, ug ipakaon ko ang ilang mga patayng lawas ngadto sa mga langgam ug sa mga ihalas nga mga hayop. 8Laglagon ko kini nga siyudad ug mahimo kining talamayon. Mahikurat gayod ang tanang mangagi ug magpanakla tungod sa gidangatan niini. 9Palibotan ko kining siyudara sa ilang mga kaaway nga molisod-lisod kanila hangtod nga mahutdan silag pagkaon. Busa kan-on na nila ang ilang isigka-tawo ug bisan ang ilang kaugalingong mga anak.’ ”
10Unya miingon ang Ginoo kanako, “Buk-a ang banga atubangan sa mga tawong kauban nimo. 11Ingna sila nga ako, ang Ginoo nga Makagagahom, nagaingon, ‘Dugmokon ko ang nasod sa Juda ug ang siyudad sa Jerusalem sama nga gidugmok ang banga ug dili na maayo pa. Ipanglubong ang daghan kaayong mga patay sa Tofet hangtod nga wala nay luna nga kalubngan pa. 12Mao kini ang buhaton ko sa Jerusalem ug sa mga lumulupyo niini. Himuon ko kining siyudara nga hugaw sama sa Tofet. 13Oo, ang tanang pinuy-anan sa Jerusalem, lakip ang mga palasyo sa mga hari sa Juda, isipong hugaw sama sa Tofet. Sa atop niini nga mga pinuy-anan nagsunog ang mga tawo ug mga insenso alang sa ilang dios nga mga bitoon, ug naghalad ug mga halad nga ilimnon alang sa ubang mga dios.’ ”
14Unya mibiya si Jeremias sa Tofet, diin gipadala siya sa Ginoo aron pagsulti sa iyang mensahe. Miadto siya sa hawanan sa templo sa Ginoo ug miingon sa mga tawo, 15“Paminaw kamo, kay mao kini ang giingon sa Ginoo nga Makagagahom, ang Dios sa Israel: Ipadala ko niini nga siyudad ug sa mga lungsod sa palibot niini ang mga kalaglagan, nga akong giingon batok kanila, tungod kay gahi silag ulo ug dili maminaw sa akong mga pulong.”
1This is what the Lord says: ‘Go and buy a clay jar from a potter. Take along some of the elders of the people and of the priests 2and go out to the Valley of Ben Hinnom, near the entrance of the Potsherd Gate. There proclaim the words I tell you, 3and say, “Hear the word of the Lord, you kings of Judah and people of Jerusalem. This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: listen! I am going to bring a disaster on this place that will make the ears of everyone who hears of it tingle. 4For they have forsaken me and made this a place of foreign gods; they have burned incense in it to gods that neither they nor their ancestors nor the kings of Judah ever knew, and they have filled this place with the blood of the innocent. 5They have built the high places of Baal to burn their children in the fire as offerings to Baal – something I did not command or mention, nor did it enter my mind. 6So beware, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when people will no longer call this place Topheth or the Valley of Ben Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter.
7‘ “In this place I will ruin19:7 The Hebrew for ruin sounds like the Hebrew for jar (see verses 1 and 10). the plans of Judah and Jerusalem. I will make them fall by the sword before their enemies, at the hands of those who want to kill them, and I will give their carcasses as food to the birds and the wild animals. 8I will devastate this city and make it an object of horror and scorn; all who pass by will be appalled and will scoff because of all its wounds. 9I will make them eat the flesh of their sons and daughters, and they will eat one another’s flesh because their enemies will press the siege so hard against them to destroy them.”
10‘Then break the jar while those who go with you are watching, 11and say to them, “This is what the Lord Almighty says: I will smash this nation and this city just as this potter’s jar is smashed and cannot be repaired. They will bury the dead in Topheth until there is no more room. 12This is what I will do to this place and to those who live here, declares the Lord. I will make this city like Topheth. 13The houses in Jerusalem and those of the kings of Judah will be defiled like this place, Topheth – all the houses where they burned incense on the roofs to all the starry hosts and poured out drink offerings to other gods.” ’
14Jeremiah then returned from Topheth, where the Lord had sent him to prophesy, and stood in the court of the Lord’s temple and said to all the people, 15‘This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: “Listen! I am going to bring on this city and all the villages around it every disaster I pronounced against them, because they were stiff-necked and would not listen to my words.” ’
