8:1-14 – 1Cr 18:1-13
1Pasado algún tiempo, David derrotó a los filisteos y los subyugó, quitándoles el control de Méteg Amá.
2También derrotó a los moabitas, a quienes obligó a tenderse en el suelo y midió con un cordel; a los que cabían a lo largo de dos medidas los condenó a muerte, pero dejó con vida a los que quedaban dentro de la medida siguiente. Fue así como los moabitas pasaron a ser vasallos tributarios de David.
3Además, David derrotó a Hadad Ezer, hijo del rey Rejob de Sobá, cuando Hadad Ezer trató de restablecer su dominio sobre la región del río Éufrates. 4David capturó mil carros, siete mil jinetes8:4 mil carros, siete mil jinetes (LXX; véanse Qumrán y 1Cr 18:4); mil setecientos jinetes (TM). y veinte mil soldados de infantería; también rompió las patas de los caballos de tiro, aunque dejó los caballos suficientes para cien carros.
5Luego, cuando los arameos de Damasco acudieron en auxilio de Hadad Ezer, rey de Sobá, David aniquiló a veintidós mil de ellos. 6También puso guarniciones en Damasco, de modo que los arameos pasaron a ser vasallos tributarios de David. En todas las campañas de David, el Señor le daba la victoria.
7En cuanto a los escudos de oro que llevaban los oficiales de Hadad Ezer, David se apropió de ellos y los trasladó a Jerusalén. 8Así mismo se apoderó de una gran cantidad de bronce que había en las ciudades de Tébaj8:8 Tébaj (Siríaca; véanse mss. de LXX y 1Cr 18:8); Beta (TM). y Berotay, poblaciones de Hadad Ezer.
9Tou,8:9 Tou (véanse mss. de LXX, Vulgata, Siríaca, 1Cr 18:9-10); Toy (TM); también en v. 10. rey de Jamat, se enteró de que David había derrotado por completo al ejército de Hadad Ezer. 10Como Tou también era enemigo de Hadad Ezer, envió a su hijo Jorán8:10 Jorán. También llamado Adorán (véase 1Cr 18:10). a desearle bienestar al rey David y a felicitarlo por haber derrotado a Hadad Ezer en batalla. Jorán llevó consigo objetos de plata, de oro y de bronce, 11los cuales el rey David consagró al Señor, tal como lo había hecho con la plata y el oro de todas las naciones que él había subyugado: 12Edom,8:12 Edom (mss. hebreos, LXX y Siríaca; véase 1Cr 18:11); Aram (TM); también en v. 13 (edomitas). Moab, Amón, Filistea y Amalec. También consagró el botín que había quitado a Hadad Ezer, hijo del rey Rejob de Sobá.
13La fama de David creció aún más cuando regresó victorioso del valle de la Sal, donde aniquiló a dieciocho mil edomitas.
14También puso guarniciones en Edom; las estableció por todo el país, de modo que los edomitas pasaron a ser vasallos tributarios de David. En todas sus campañas el Señor le daba la victoria.

15David reinó sobre todo Israel, gobernando al pueblo entero con justicia y rectitud. 16Joab, hijo de Sarvia, era general del ejército; Josafat, hijo de Ajilud, era el secretario; 17Sadoc, hijo de Ajitob, y Ajimélec, hijo de Abiatar, eran sacerdotes; Seraías era el cronista; 18Benaías, hijo de Joyadá, estaba al mando de los soldados quereteos y peleteos, y los hijos de David eran sacerdotes.
1And after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them: and David took Metheg-ammah out of the hand of the Philistines.8.1 Metheg-ammah: or, the bridle of Ammah 2And he smote Moab, and measured them with a line, casting them down to the ground; even with two lines measured he to put to death, and with one full line to keep alive. And so the Moabites became David’s servants, and brought gifts.
3¶ David smote also Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his border at the river Euphrates.8.3 Hadadezer: or, Hadarezer 4And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for an hundred chariots.8.4 from…: or, of his chariots 5And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succour Hadadezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men. 6Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought gifts. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went. 7And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem. 8And from Betah, and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took exceeding much brass.
9¶ When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadadezer, 10Then Toi sent Joram his son unto king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer, and smitten him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And Joram brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass:8.10 Joram: also called, Hadoram8.10 salute…: Heb. ask him of peace8.10 had wars…: Heb. was a man of wars with8.10 brought…: Heb. in his hand were 11Which also king David did dedicate unto the LORD, with the silver and gold that he had dedicated of all nations which he subdued; 12Of Syria, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah. 13And David gat him a name when he returned from smiting of the Syrians in the valley of salt, being eighteen thousand men.8.13 smiting: Heb. his smiting
14¶ And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all they of Edom became David’s servants. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.
15And David reigned over all Israel; and David executed judgment and justice unto all his people. 16And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;8.16 recorder: or, remembrancer, or, writer of chronicles 17And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Seraiah was the scribe;8.17 scribe: or, secretary 18And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over both the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David’s sons were chief rulers.8.18 chief rulers: or, princes
