3 Moseboken 19:1-37

Regler för det dagliga livet

1Herren talade till Mose: 2”Säg till israeliterna: ’Ni ska vara heliga, för jag, Herren, er Gud, är helig.

3Var och en ska vörda sin mor och far och hålla mina sabbater, för jag är Herren, er Gud.

4Vänd er inte till avgudar och tillverka inga gjutna sådana åt er, för jag är Herren, er Gud.

5När ni bär fram ett gemenskapsoffer till Herren, ska ni offra det så att det behagar honom. 6Ät det samma dag ni offrar det och aldrig senare än dagen därpå. Det som blir kvar till tredje dagen måste brännas upp. 7Det som äts på den tredje dagen är nämligen vedervärdigt och Herren kan inte acceptera det. 8Den som äter det på den tredje dagen drar över sig skuld, för då vanhelgar han det som var helgat åt Herren och ska därför utrotas ur sitt folk.

9När ni bärgar skörden, ska du inte skörda i hörnen och längs kanterna av fältet och inte heller plocka upp ax som ligger kvar på marken. 10Du ska inte heller göra någon efterskörd i din vingård och inte plocka av de nerfallna druvorna. Lämna detta åt de fattiga och åt främlingar, för jag är Herren, er Gud.

11Ni ska inte stjäla eller ljuga eller bedra varandra.

12Inte heller ska ni svära falskt och därigenom vanhelga er Guds namn, för jag är Herren.

13Du ska inte bedra eller röva från någon och du ska inte hålla inne en arbetares lön över en natt. 14Du ska inte förbanna den döve eller lägga något hinder för den blinde där han går fram. Frukta din Gud! Jag är Herren.

15Förvräng inte rättvisan. Ta inte parti för vare sig fattig eller rik. Döm din nästa rättvist.

16Sprid inget skvaller bland ditt folk. Gör inget som riskerar din nästas liv, för jag är Herren.

17Bär inget hat mot din bror inom dig. Tillrättavisa honom för att du inte ska göra dig medskyldig. 18Du ska inte hämnas eller hysa agg mot någon bland ditt folk utan älska din medmänniska som dig själv, för jag är Herren.

19Lyd mina stadgar. Låt inte djur av olika slag para sig med varandra och så inte två olika sädesslag på din åker. Bär inte kläder som är vävda av två olika material.

20Om en man ligger med en slavinna som ska gifta sig med en annan man men ännu inte är friköpt eller frigiven, ska båda två straffas19:20 Betydelsen är osäker. Möjligen kan det vara fråga om skadestånd. men inte dömas till döden eftersom hon inte är fri. 21Mannen ska bära fram sitt skuldoffer inför Herren vid ingången till uppenbarelsetältet. Offret ska bestå av en bagge. 22Prästen ska med skuldofferbaggen skaffa försoning inför Herren åt mannen för den synd han har begått och han ska få förlåtelse.

23När ni har kommit in i landet och har planterat alla slags fruktträd, ska ni inte röra vid den första skörden för frukten ska under tre år betraktas som förbjuden och får inte ätas. 24Det fjärde året ska hela skörden helgas åt Herren under tacksägelse. 25Först det femte året ska ni äta av skörden och då kommer skörden att vara desto större. Jag är Herren, er Gud.

26Ni får inte äta blodigt kött. Inte heller får ni befatta er med spådomar och trollkonster.

27Ni får inte klippa håret vid tinningarna eller kanten av skägget.

28Ni ska inte rista in några märken i er hud för någon död eller tatuera er. Jag är Herren.

29Du ska inte vanhelga din dotter genom att göra henne till en prostituerad, för då kommer landet snart att bli fyllt av otukt och ondska.

30Håll mina sabbater och respektera min helgedom. Jag är Herren.

31Orena er inte genom att rådfråga de dödas andar och spådomsandar. Jag är Herren, er Gud.

32Du ska resa dig och visa de äldre vördnad och respekt i fruktan för Gud. Jag är Herren.

33Ni ska inte behandla en invandrare illa som lever i ert land. 34De ska behandlas som israeliter. Älska dem som dig själv och kom ihåg att ni också var främlingar i Egypten. Jag är Herren, er Gud.

35Var inte oärliga och använd aldrig falska mått på längd, vikt och rymd. 36Ni ska ha riktig våg och riktiga vikter, likaså riktiga mått av vilka slag de än är. Jag är Herren, er Gud, som ledde er ut ur Egypten. 37Ni ska hålla alla mina befallningar och stadgar och lyda dem. Jag är Herren.’ ”

Leviticus 19:1-37

Various laws

1The Lord said to Moses, 2‘Speak to the entire assembly of Israel and say to them: “Be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy.

3‘ “Each of you must respect your mother and father, and you must observe my Sabbaths. I am the Lord your God.

4‘ “Do not turn to idols or make metal gods for yourselves. I am the Lord your God.

5‘ “When you sacrifice a fellowship offering to the Lord, sacrifice it in such a way that it will be accepted on your behalf. 6It shall be eaten on the day you sacrifice it or on the next day; anything left over until the third day must be burned. 7If any of it is eaten on the third day, it is impure and will not be accepted. 8Whoever eats it will be held responsible because they have desecrated what is holy to the Lord; they must be cut off from their people.

9‘ “When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. 10Do not go over your vineyard a second time or pick up the grapes that have fallen. Leave them for the poor and the foreigner. I am the Lord your God.

11‘ “Do not steal.

‘ “Do not lie.

‘ “Do not deceive one another.

12‘ “Do not swear falsely by my name and so profane the name of your God. I am the Lord.

13‘ “Do not defraud or rob your neighbour.

‘ “Do not hold back the wages of a hired worker overnight.

14‘ “Do not curse the deaf or put a stumbling-block in front of the blind, but fear your God. I am the Lord.

15‘ “Do not pervert justice; do not show partiality to the poor or favouritism to the great, but judge your neighbour fairly.

16‘ “Do not go about spreading slander among your people.

‘ “Do not do anything that endangers your neighbour’s life. I am the Lord.

17‘ “Do not hate a fellow Israelite in your heart. Rebuke your neighbour frankly so that you will not share in their guilt.

18‘ “Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbour as yourself. I am the Lord.

19‘ “Keep my decrees.

‘ “Do not mate different kinds of animals.

‘ “Do not plant your field with two kinds of seed.

‘ “Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material.

20‘ “If a man sleeps with a female slave who is promised to another man but who has not been ransomed or given her freedom, there must be due punishment.19:20 Or be an enquiry Yet they are not to be put to death, because she had not been freed. 21The man, however, must bring a ram to the entrance to the tent of meeting for a guilt offering to the Lord. 22With the ram of the guilt offering the priest is to make atonement for him before the Lord for the sin he has committed, and his sin will be forgiven.

23‘ “When you enter the land and plant any kind of fruit tree, regard its fruit as forbidden.19:23 Hebrew uncircumcised For three years you are to consider it forbidden19:23 Hebrew uncircumcised; it must not be eaten. 24In the fourth year all its fruit will be holy, an offering of praise to the Lord. 25But in the fifth year you may eat its fruit. In this way your harvest will be increased. I am the Lord your God.

26‘ “Do not eat any meat with the blood still in it.

‘ “Do not practise divination or seek omens.

27‘ “Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard.

28‘ “Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord.

29‘ “Do not degrade your daughter by making her a prostitute, or the land will turn to prostitution and be filled with wickedness.

30‘ “Observe my Sabbaths and have reverence for my sanctuary. I am the Lord.

31‘ “Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the Lord your God.

32‘ “Stand up in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere your God. I am the Lord.

33‘ “When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not ill-treat them. 34The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God.

35‘ “Do not use dishonest standards when measuring length, weight or quantity. 36Use honest scales and honest weights, an honest ephah19:36 An ephah was a dry measure having the capacity of about 22 litres. and an honest hin.19:36 A hin was a liquid measure having the capacity of about 3.8 litres. I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt.

37‘ “Keep all my decrees and all my laws and follow them. I am the Lord.” ’
